Season 3 of Venture Bros. Appears to be a GO!!!!!!

From Jackson Publick’s blog:

Does happy dance while deleting draft Pit Thread about how the folks at AS are the biggest wankers to ever walk the planet.

Sweet! Thanks for the info.

No! I had hopes that they had produced 26 episodes and split the season in half! If they’re just now starting writing it then we’ll have until 2008 before we get more!

Blame AS for that. The reason we had to wait so freakin’ long for season two was because the pinheads at AS couldn’t make up their mind to renew it or not. Mind you, Venture Bros. beats Tom Goes to the Mayor and damned near everything else AS shows like a seal hunter beats a harp seal in a PETA video, so why they should even have to hesitate to renew the series is beyond me. And season 2 comes out on DVD in April!!!

*Sticks up the V sign

Go TEAM VENTURE

And the Season 2 DVDs are due in April!

Is it true that the season 2 DVDs will be out in April?

Does anyone know when the season 2 DVDs will be out?

I’m not entirely sure, but I think that season 2 DVDs will be out in April, and not in April as you seem to think.

Excellent news. This is one of the best writing on television, so I’m looking forward to more goodness.

err some of the best… :smack:

No, you were the right in first time.

Sure. In 1960. For 20 minutes.

It occurs to me that a hand-drawn, half-hour show with relatively well-known voice actors probably costs them more to produce than, say, rotoscoped actors on stock backgrounds or grown men dicking around with action figures.

Venture Bros. isn’t hand drawn, but it is a more labor intensive process than some of the other cartoons, but by being so highly rated, AS can charge more for the commercial time.

True, but in the end, shows like TGttM and 12 Oz. Mouse are so cheap to make, that even though they in theory could be getting less overall money from the commercials, the profit margin can still be higher.

And for some reason I bet commercial time for [as] probably costs the same regardless of the show, and is only based on the time it airs, since when they put up those ratings numbers, they usually aren’t that different for the separate shows. Most people just plunk it on and keep it there.

At last, a situation where Brock wouldn’t say, “They just do that. I don’t know why.”

I haven’t paid attention to AS since Robotchicken and Venture Bros. went into repeats, but as I recall, VB had more than double the numbers of TGTTM. IIRC, the season 2 premiere of VB had the highest ratings of any AS program, ever.

Network folks are rapidly learning that ratings aren’t everything. They’re making boatloads of money off of DVD sales on top of the merchandizing tie-ins. I doubt that TTGTM DVDs and related merchandise have sold as well as VB stuff.

Sean Factotum, didja miss the episode where Brock said that to Molotov Cocktease? (“Go Team Venture” that is.)

I saw it, but thought he was being sarcastic.

I am so happy to hear this. But really, could they have ended the series without disclosing the big secret Dr. Girlfriend was about to spring on The Monarch? There’s a lot of speculation within my group of friends, but who knows? I don’t think she turns out to be a man, though.
