Season Long NFC North Discussion Thread

Ditto. I’m living in the moment.

Well, I was pretty drunk for pretty much all of 2003, but yes, I remember. Alas, I knew it couldn’t last.

I remember it like it was two years ago when the Packers went into OT in the NFC Championship game against the eventual Super Bowl champs. I also remember how that game ended.

The Vikings completely dominated those eventual super bowl champs at the champ-to-bes’ own stadium that season. Good times.

NFC Championship game? You mean they actually have multiple games in the playoffs? I wouldn’t know. I’ve only seen one.

Didn’t AD run for almost three bucks in that game? I think that was about the time that opposing teams started scheming 10 in the box against him.

Well, the Packers also beat the Giants earlier that season as well. And I thought AD’s 300 yard game was against the Chargers?

Maybe it was. He went well over 200 against both teams, but I forget which was the record breaker.

It was against the Chargers, though he didn’t quite crack 300 yards, for the record.

Or the overtime pick in the 2004 Divisional playoff against the Eagles. Or the 6 picks in the 2002 NFC Divisional playoff against the Rams. Or you could ask the JETS fans about late last season.

Favre’s impressed me so far this year, he’s playing like he’s always been capable of. Good for him.

Yeah, I remember because there was a second record set in that same game when Antonio Cromartie returned a missed Field Goal officially 109 yards (if you look at the video it is more like 110 yards…great catch.). I rmember watching the game at a bar, it wasn’t my primary focus, I was probably focused on a Packer game. But I kept looking over at that game and it was just crazy, especially AP seeming to run for 30 yards every time he touched the ball.

Can’t go 110 yards because gains (or losses) on plays are rounded down by convention. IOW, to go 110 yards he’d have to catch the ball on or beyond the back of the the endzone, so he’d be out of bounds.

Yes, I know, it is officially 109,but if you look at the video, he catches the ball past the end line, and stays in bounds, in a very athletic play. IMO, it is closer to actually being 110.

Right. I’m just saying that it can’t officially be 110.

Only 3 picks through 9 games this year. I think th least INT’s he’s ever thrown in a season is like 17, and he’s on pace for 5 or 6 this year. I think he’s fundamentally changed a part of his mentality this year. Vikings fans were holding their breaths waiting for the multi-pick meltdown game early in the season, but I don’t think it’s coming. It’s like the switch finally flipped with him and he’s not taking the chances anymore. Maybe because he feels like this could well be his last real shot at another ring, and he’s being more careful than he ever has.

Favre himself says it’s partly because of AP, and the defense and he doesn’t feel the pressure to do everything all by himself anymore. There could be some truth in that too. I know there were some years in GB where he got respectable records on teams that would have been absolute crap without him.

Have the Vikings been involved in any shootouts yet?

That first game with the Packers kind of ended up that way.

I would classify the Ravens game with the Vikings as a shootout.

I’d classify the second as well. 6 touchdowns and a field goal in the second half.

That’s the Bengals’ job.
