Never gets old. Except possibly for Bengals’ fans, but they’re not real people anyway.
Nope. It’s old. Just like “Beli-cheat”.
You’re damn skippy.
Hey! I resemble that remark!
I think we can now update that to Belichump.
Article about the Vikings possibly moving to LA.
And the extortion to get a new stadium built with public aid begins in earnest. Reason #143 to love the Packers.
Reason #1: absolutely nothing else of value in Wisconsin except cheese curds.
There is zero chance that the Vikings will be moved. The Jaguars or another California team are much better candidates.
I don’t think it’s a totally empty threat, but the odds are fairly low. The league likes the Vikings where they are (a top 15 market, and no blackouts since 1997), and Jacksonvilel and San Diego are much more likely prospects to move to LA. The Chargers, in particular, would be convenient in that it could retain some of its own market, and no divisional shuffling would have to be done.
In adition, the Wilfs themselves have always said they won’t move the Vikings.
I think a stadium will eventually get built, but politicians are afraid to say they want to fund it during a recession. I think they’re underestimating the importance of the Vikings, and the willingness of the voters to keep them here. Something like a 2 cent gas tax is all it would take. I think it will get done once the fear of losing them really sets in.
But have the Wilfs said that they won’t sell the Vikings? It appears that the LA group wants a majority share of the team. Can a stadium be built before the Viking’s deadline or is that just a bluff?
I hope Minneapolis stands up for itself and tells the team to build their own damn stadium. You bought the team, Mr. Billionaire Developer. Why the hell should the taxpayers help you out?
I imagine billionaire owners don’t like to go to billionaire owner meetings and have all the other billionaire owners make fun of them for not getting as good a deal as the other billionaire owners for their new stadium.
Worked out okay for Bob Kraft.
There is already a plan to build an NFL stadium with private funds in Los Angeles, contingent on getting a team.
But I agree I think the threatened move of the Vikes is just that, a threat, to try and get some conscessions and a stadium.
Don’t be so glum. Detroit built Ford 2 stadiums. See what they did for the fans? Ford bought the Lions for 35 mill. They are worth about 800 mill now. The fans have taken care of Ford very well. He has stuck it to the fans like any arrogant rich prick would. Winning a title or a Superbowl would be nice, but he obviously could care less. It is a business for profit. For fans it is a competition and they ant a winning team. He is playing Detroiters for suckers, year after year.
The Vikings moved to 9-1 this week in a yawner with the Seahawks. As an Atlanta resident, I was glad to stick it to the Falcons’ previous head coach, who is a tool.
Packers and Lions also won. Yep, the Lions won. No, seriously. Well, you see, they were playing the Browns, so… Yeah. Bears can make it 4-0 for the North if they beat the Eagles.
Jim Mora is a previous Falcons head coach. Bobby Petrino is the previous head coach, and is an even bigger tool.
Well the Packers won, yet why am I still upset that yet another long kickoff return made it far more interesting than it needed to be?

I’m heartened that the Packers played a good game (excepting that special teams and the late defensive laxitude). They did a lot of quick passes and ran the ball extremely well, just as I’ve been crying for for the last 3 weeks. And the defense was very good, at least until it quit being aggressive and played on it’s heels. Altogether, a good game, which has me in good spirits. Bring on the Lions!!!
