My routing ap indicates 4 1/2 hours from Seattle to Eugene so I won’t cover that ground before noon. Will be going Saturday and need to keep moving south on Sunday.
Happy to caffeinate at Theo’s then move for lunch.

Having driven that route many times I can confidently assert that the Seattle → Eugene leg will be much closer to 5 ½ hours as the traffic between Seattle and Olympia can be absolutely brutal. Even on a good day expect 5+ hours to make that drive. For reference, the real-world drive time between Roseburg and Spanaway (10 miles south of Tacoma) is 6 hours on an average day without any traffic jams. If you leave the freeway at any time the drive time will increase significantly.
Theo’s on a summer Saturday puts you in the middle of Saturday Market traffic (car, foot, bike, recumbent bike, unicycle, scooter…). Pastini’s might be a better choice.
In 2007, Horizon Air had a very funny campaign called ‘The Slog’. Sadly, the video seems no longer to exist.
I’ll also say that when the weather’s really nice, in the Summer, if you are doing that just before the weekend it might be especially brutal. (At least it’s not a holiday weekend though.)
Ooofff, that’s a good point. I never go to Saturday Market and didn’t even think of that.
I mean, it’s not Seattle, but still.
FWIW, my commute to Burien (near SEATAC airport) takes about 2½ hours. Sometimes three. Sometimes more than that. The commute home is usually about three hours. It’s a good thing I only do it once a week. Anyway, I plan on a six-hour drive to get to Portland.
Count me in for Eugene if it’s going to happen! Johnny_LA is right that it takes more time to get from Seattle to Eugene than your maps app claims.
I might be able to get down to Eugene on Saturday, if y’all don’t mind.
Never mind.
I just got word that an old and dear friend died of heart failure this morning. I will attending a small get-together in his honor on Saturday.
Sorry, just saw this.
I’m on the eastside across Lake Washington from Seattle in Bellevue. I could possibly be up for a beer or two on Friday (tomorrow).
whereabouts are you?
My favorite local brewery, serving English ales out of traditional casks, moved and just reopened. Used to be called Machine House, but now I think it is Hillman City. Regardless it’s at this address: 5718 RAINIER AVE S IN SEATTLE, WA
Let me know if that seems like a decent idea?

So how does meeting tomorrow in Eugene at Pastini’s in the Oakway Center sound? Given @penultima_thule’s driving time I figure meeting around 2pm should work assuming p_t leaves Seattle by 8am. That gives him some extra wiggle room if needed. If that time doesn’t work I’m open to whatever works for p_t.
It looks like right now it’s @Lancia, @susan, and @penultima_thule for sure with maybe @Jack_Batty crashing the party by and by.
I think that’s a given If your plans change and you can make it after all, we’d love to have you join us.
Thanks! Sounds good.
I’m booked in.
I so wish I could! It’s just rotten timing. The pup is only 10 weeks old, I’ve had him just since Tuesday and I’m struggling to get away long enough to even take a shower. Very needy at this age, and lonely for his Momma and littermates, too. He deserves all my attention at this critical time.
Next time for sure!
Any reason you can’t bring him along?
Many, I’m afraid.
He’s too young, not yet fully vaccinated and therefore vulnerable to almost every kind of disease.
He can’t meet other dogs yet.
He’s not yet crate trained.
He’s not yet potty trained.
He’s very needy at this time in his little life. Routine is everything, and I’ve only had him 3 days.
Bob is adorable, but Pastini’s won’t welcome him. Theo’s… they let me bring my last little dachshund into their establishment. In a crate. No idea about the policy for Sunriver Brewing.
Have fun and make many excellent memories, whatever you all decide to do!!
Todays the day!
I sent a PM to susan, jack_batty, and p_t with my contact info. I plan on being at Pastini’s around 1:30 or so to settle in. I’ll be wearing a bright red and orange Jurassic Park shirt.
