Now that I’m here in Seattle, and can actually access the SDMB again, I can see that this is going to be a blast.
Very much looking forward to meeting all of you, and trying some of that food at the Bite (never really heard of anything like that, before, and it sounds pretty cool).
Growl, snarl, my wife and I will be out of town from that morning to Sunday. Prearranged vacation time, y’know.
Maybe I’ll buy a life-size cardboard standup of Commander Riker and modify it a bit (reduce the height, expand the belly, recede the hairline, and draw on glasses) and you can pretend I’m there with you.
Don’t have an idea for my wife, tho.
Would the Space Needle be a good place to meet? For those who have never been to the Seattle Center, it is the easiest landmark to find.

I guess we will park in the parking garage mentioned on the website, and take the Monorail to the Seattle Center. I have no idea what time that will put us at the Center, any ideas?
And are we going to spend the whole afternoon there? Is this Pacific Place you mentioned anywhere near the Center? If we wanted to go to dinner somewhere near the Center, there is that Bucca di Beppo within walking distance, although after eating at the bite in the afternoon I am not sure we will even be hungry for dinner. Should we just meet at the Space Needle and do the bite and then decide what we want to do later at that time? Oh, and where is the Public Market in terms of the easiest way to get there from the Center? That is always a fun and fascinating place to hang out.
I’m pretty clueless about Seattle, and so are Audrey and KK since they just moved here, so we need some help from the rest of you.
And may I say BOOOO HISSSS that herownself and Cervaise can’t make it? Amarinth, Danalan? are you coming, I hope?
One more random thought…I don’t believe I have ever seen a DopeFest thread that contained a banned poster. Feels kind of funny.
The Public Market just a few blocks from the other end of the Monorail. I have no idea where Pacific Place is.
On another note, if we have this thing run late enough, there’s a midnight showing of “Flesh Gordon” at the Egyptian that night. AudreyK, silent_rob, and myself are planning to go, and those more perverted individuals among our number might also be interested.
I still have to work and will still not likely be able to be in Seattle before 8. If the plan is still to be at Gameworks that evening, I can meet people there. BTW, I can’t imagine you’ll want to go out for more food after leaving the Bite. Drink maybe, but not eat. If I’m wrong, Bucca di Beppo really isn’t a comfortable walk - a short drive, but not the best walk.
Anyway, it’s a very nearly straight line from pacific place (between 6th and 7th) and the monorail stop (between 3rd and 4th) and the Market (below 1st). The monorail goes from downtown to Seattle Center (where the Bite and Space Needle are.).
As far as picking Czarcasm up, I’ve always found parking near the train station hellish and expensive - however, it is right near the bus tunnel, and that will take you from there to the monorail stop (for free during the day). Depending on how much stuff there is to carry, that might be a better idea.
The monorail is the key to the whole day - makes it a walking trip for me (from he Bremerton ferry) instead of a bus (or taxi) trip.
The only problem with the ‘Czarcasm takes the bus tunnel’ route is that he’s going to have luggage of some kind - needs somewhere to put it. The $5 parking at the Bon is a real good bargain for Downtown - I think that’s the best option.
I still need to know how long it is going to take to get from the train station to parking garage and then to the Seattle Center before we decide on a time to meet at the Needle. Is 1:30 good for everyone? Or do we need to make it 2PM?
Amarinth, do you still have my cell phone number so you can call when you get downtown and I can let you know where to meet us?

I may be able to make it, I will have to see about a sitter but it soundds good to me. the only question I have is why a movie and gameworks? pioneer square is close and has a one cover 9 clubs kinda deal going on, with live music at all of them. of course I supose this could be a 21 and over question.

Whatever you all want to do is fine with me, although I do think the Bite of Seattle would be a good place to start. I have never been, and I hear it is lots of fun.

The drive is very short, and even if you have to wait for a monorail, it won’t take that long. 1:30 should be plenty of time.

I’d like to come but I have to join you in the evening. I get off work at about 5. It sounds like by 5 things will be wrapping at the Bite and moving to other venues. I don’t have a cell phone so facitilitate meeting up with people so I’m going to need a predetermined rendevous. Is there a consensus yet on what’s happening after the Bite?
How long will it take you to get downtown, pendgwen?

So, we’ll meet at the base of the Space Needle at 1:30PM on Friday and go from there. Once we get more confirmations of who is doing what, except for amarinth who is going to call me when she gets downtown, we can decide on a rendevous point at whatever time we need to make it so latecomers can find us for the evening portion of our day.
But right now, for sure the confirmed attendees will meet at the Needle at 1:30PM. Agreed?

Um…heh…I hate to bring this up, but yours truly is under 21 (for only a month and a half more, mind you). I have a beard, and pass for much older, but…I don’t want it to be a problem for everyone if I do get ID’d.
