I’m here.
I suggested a movie and GameWorks because it was all I could think of. As Scotti said, we’re new to this 'hood and are hoping to get suggestions from the locals. I am TOTALLY open to ideas. Anything.

Sounds like Pioneer Square is out, but there is still the Public Market. And I think after we find out who will be joining us later, we can set up a rendevouz point at 5 or 6PM and decide THEN where to go after that.
What say?
I work up above downtown on Pill Hill. It’s about a 20 minute walk from work to Pacific Place, 25 minutes to the Market. Actually I may have the use of a car that day so I can get there faster but I’ll have to find parking. (Recommendations for relatively cheap parking anyone?) I guess the upshot is I should be able to meet you by 5:30.
Okay, someone who knows Seattle better than AudreyK and I is going to have to make some decisions. The 7 of us who are meeting at 1:30 are all set to meet at the Needle. What would be a good place to meet pendgwen and possibly Critical1 around 5:30 or 6PM? My car will be in the Bon Marche Parking Garage on Third and Stewart. Which is apparently near the Monorail stop on the third floor of the Westlake Center. If we are going to either Pacific Place OR The Public Market, would we go from the Monorail stop there? Because if so, maybe we should meet pendgwen by that monorail stop. That way if we were late or pen got hung up, we could browse around the shops (or pen could…I hope you don’t mind, but pendgwen is getting a bit unwieldy for this post )
And I didn’t get a sense of whether Critical1 was planning on the bite or just the evening, but I guess he/she’ll let us know if she/he can make it.
Saltire and pendgwen…it sounds like you two are the most knowledgable about downtown Seattle…does this sound like a workable plan, or is there a better one?
As mentioned before, amarinth will call me whenever she gets downtown and I will tell her where we are. So that’s taken care of.
Isn’t there a McMinnamins near the Seattle Center?
Oh, and BTW…Czarcasm, have you reached your SIL yet? If not, we need to figure out some place for you to stay.
What’s a McMinnamins?
Sorry about the spelling-McMenamins is a northwest chain of brewpubs with decent food and damngoodhomebrew.
The three in Seattle are:
Dad Watson’s Resturant and Brewery, 3601 Fremont Ave. N.
McMenamins On Queen Anne, 200 Roy Street, Suite 105
Six Arm Brewpub, 300 East Pike Street
Would any of these be convenient?
Do they let in under 21 year olds?
The ones in Portland do. Any info from you Seattlites?
Ya’ know, sweetie, we’re going to have to stop meeting like this. People will talk!
Vewy vewy funny:D
The McMenamins on Queen Anne is just a few blocks from the Seattle Center, and according to the menu they do indeed serve the under 21 set.
So, what do you think? Should we say we’ll gather at this McMenamins at 6PM for dinner (for whoever hasn’t eaten…pen and Critical1 maybe…) and drinks? Then we can decided where we want to go next?
This sounds good to me.
Ohh…and I LOVE the Griffyn logo.
The menu looks varied enough for both people who aren’t really hungry AND people who want to eat a meal to be happy. Plus the extensive beer and wine menu…I think this looks good.
You know, if this continues, I am going to hit 3000 in either the Vancouver DF thread or this one. Just saying.
McMenamins at 6PM works for me. I was wondering how I was going to work dinner into my evening since you guys will be stuffed from the Bite. The next question is how will I recognize you? We could go for the mystery novel approach where someone wears a pink carnation in their lapel or some such thing. Anyone got a webpage with their picture on it they can point me to?
K, no offense to anyone who lives there, but South Dakota is a real drag. I’m never driving through there again.
Anyhoo, check my location, I made it, we’ve moved in and there’s boxes all over the frickin’ place. Unfortunately, this is on a borrowed 'puter, so it’ll have to be quick. We get our phone line tomorrow, then I’ll be able to play more.
I have to pick up my wife after work, so it looks like we’ll be part of the “joining late” crowd. My cell still has a MD number, so if anyone wants to e/mail me, I can give you that and my wife’s, which is local. I’ll be checking this thread and my e/mail tomorrow, so we can figure out exactly where to go at the right time. Yay!
Recognition?
Look for the Official Moderator Coffee Cup!
Aguecheek and pendgwen, I am emailing you a picture of me along with my cell phone number. We will expect you at McMenamin’s at 6PM or so. Critical1, your email isn’t listed, so if you can make it, and we hope you can, just show up. We will meet you either at the Space Needle at 1:30PM or at McMenamin’s at 6PM.
lawoot and Saltire, I’ll email you my CP# and a pic too. Am I correct in assuming that we will be meeting you at 1:30PM? Everyone else already knows me, except for Czarcasm who will [sub]hopefully[/sub] already be with me and not wandering around the Train station looking for a stray and confused looking woman.
Scotticher:
You may want to monitor the Amtrak web site to make sure that the train is running on time. I THINK (based on what you’ve said in this thread) that The Czar’s train is due in at 12:15 - so it’s probably train # 750. To check the status, put in the date, the approximate time it departs Portland [PDX] (09:00) and the destination of Seattle [SEA] and it should give you what you need to know.
Oh, and I got the e-mail info.
Well, I had tried to go to the last Seattle fest but couldn’t make it, and I won’t be able to do this one either- I’ll be white-water rafting.
So you’ll have to wait a little longer to experience my presence; more’s the pity.
Have fun anyway!!
