Seattle Doper Trivia -- the 2005 thread

I can come to the G&D tomorrow (Tuesday) but can’t make it Monday. Are enough people interested in both nights to keep Tuesday going?

What time is trivia tonight? I have an eye appointment at 6:45, and if he doesn’t dilate my eyes, I’d like to try to make it. I can’t tomorrow, got a meeting.

(thanks, Aguecheek! I haven’t heard back from them yet, the jerks. )

Irish Emigrant trivia starts at 8:00, same as the G&D.

I’ll be there tonight. Can’t do G&D tomorrow; have a theater thing.

My brother is a strong possibility for tonight if it’s at the Emigrant – he wants to see the Packers on Monday Night Football, and the Emigrant has that big-screen TV up before the quiz.

I’m out this week, but perhaps next week or the week after at the G&D will work.

Great, I should be able to make it (barring funny eye stuff). Any tips about parking near the Emigrant?

Try to fit the car between two other cars. Manouever appropriately. Exit car. Lock door.

Easy!

Seriously. It’s not too bad. It’s back-in angle parking, but there’s a lot of spaces.

They even leave the TV running with the sound off during the quiz, for those that need to keep looking at the score.

I think I’ll be there at the Emigrant tonight, but I’ll have to check in at home first. I could do the G&D tomorrow as well, even if it’s just me and E. Thorp. Though I prefer larger groups–the last time it was just he and I we were massacred, if I recall correctly.

While I’m a bus rider, I can say that parking at the Emigrant is like all parking in the U-district–inconsistant. There’s tons of angle parking on the street (weird as that is) but it’s often full. But there’s always a space somewhere. If you can make it to the pub from wherever you end up, I’d be glad to walk you back to your car after the quiz.

Massacred doesn’t even begin to describe the experience. While I quite enjoy your company, Saltire, let’s leave it at “only if we can get a bigger crowd.”

Good luck at the Emigrant, everyone.

Turns out Lady Cheek has an appointment this afternoon, which means we won’t be getting there at our usual early time tonight. We’ll be there, I’m just not sure when.

So, I’ll check the thread a few times today, but I’m assuming no George & Dragon trivia tonight.

On a happy note: We won last night! We got killed on the first round, we bingo’d simultaneously with another team, we tied them again on the first playoff question, we lost the bingo bonus on the second playoff question, we played conservatively on the last round, and we walked off with the pot.

Is anyone in for tonight a the Irish Emigrant? I have to work tomorrow night, but I think I could manage tonight.

I guess I could do both nights actually. Whatever the group decides. But I won’t be early if it’s tonight. More like around 7:00 or 7:30ish.

Can’t make it tonight.

Unfortunately, thanks to a new project landing on my desk last Friday, I can’t make tomorrow or next Tuesday either. Hope to see you all later in the month.

Reading this late; I won’t be at trivia tonight. Planning on G&D tomorrow.

So, stargazer, this looks like a small group (if group it be). It may be better to forego it for today.

But if you still want to do it, or if anyone else comes forward, I’m still willing to head down to the Emigrant to pitch in on the 3 questions I may have some answer for.

If I don’t see a reply in the next half hour or so, I’m assuming it’s a no.

Today we get an early bump. Looks like Cervaise and I are in, stargazer and E. Thorp are out. We need more for the ‘in’ crowd. Who’s up for it?

On a side note, when I loaded the thread, all 4 ads at the bottom were for trivia sites, and 2 of them mentioned pub trivia specifically. Apparently, we are a target audience.

I am not in. My brother may also be not in, as our mother is in town and requests visitation time.

Perhaps next week. And even if not, I may try to do a baby meet ‘n’ greet at trivia one of these days while it’s still warm and dry enough for people to be on the deck.

Turns out I might be able to come tonight – depends on how work goes.

Well, and how hubby reacts – Bravo is showing season 6 of The West Wing, which we haven’t seen, and our TiVo is an old model and can only hold so much. And big stuff happened last season!

So, I’d say don’t count on me, but don’t be shocked if I show up.

Oh, and Interrobang!? – there’s been some non-specific talk of getting together either at a family-friendly place that has trivia (if we can find one), or at someone’s home, so you can bring the bairne (“bairn” looks so male to me, so I’ve feminized it – improperly, I’m sure). At this point it’s all talk, though, unless someone wants to run with it.

I’m now running payroll tonight. So we’ll see when I can get out of here. :frowning:

Look forward to seeing you there!

We’re in.

Tonight’s participants, might want to consider, however, our recent trend in naming the teams: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/10/10/smurf_village_razed/ That can’t bode well at all. No sir.
