Finally, finally, finally. I was really leaning towards Lily, and even had my husband leaning toward Coco for a short time. But no.
“So, come on, sweetie, what are we going to name our little bugaboo?” I ask. My husband meets my gaze and stares.
“That’s it,” he says.
“What’s it?” I ask.
“…Bug…a…boo… we can call her Boo!”
“Boo Radley?” I say. “I like Boo Radley.”
“Bugaboo. We’ll call her Boo for short, either way.” He is satisfied.
“Come here, Boo!” he says to her… and she playfully nudges his fingers.
Boo she be. Be she Boo. Be dee bop a doo bop a wop bop boo.
Good to see you, too, LOUNE! I’ve been away, training and learning more than I ever knew there was to know about paint and colour, interiors and exteriors, stains, finishes, glazes, pastes, spackles, oils, resins, xylene… Mmmmmm… xylene.
BOO!

Purrrfect! Glad you’re back. Do you have a new job?
We had originally named our Emily Cinnamon, which I didn’t think was quite right but couldn’t find her real name – until a cat-person friend came to visit. She took one look at the cat and said to her, “Your real name is Emily, isn’t it?” Emily, of course, immediately responded in the affirmative, and thus Emily she became.
Cats know their own real names. I just wish they could tell us what they are a little more easily!

When I was a young lad, my parents and sisters went of to a family wedding in New Brunswick (I had a summer job and stayed home). They came back with a kitten they’d adopted from the motel they stayed in. There was some discussion over what he should be named. When he died some 16 years later, he was still called TC - short for The Cat. Never did tell us his real name.

I grew up in New Brunswick. Maybe you knew that. I mention it a lot. It’s my “back in St. Olaf” gene.
As a wee lass, I once had a kitten my father had found stray at the sardine factory in Blacks Harbour (where else would stray kitties go?) and we named him KC. Kitty cat.
Slowly the cats are becoming accustomed to each other. Kero has dropped her protest, and is regularly sniffing Boo, though she’s still somewhat wary of this teensy, bouncing critter invading her space. Bastian hasn’t quite come around just yet, and still creeps around the house looking like this.
Boo is taking it all in stride, and every day is a new adventure. She struggles so hard to keep her eyes open when she is so obviously sleepy - so much more to see and do! She never walks into a room, she bounces and skips. This makes me and my husband coo and laugh, and scares the bejaysus out of Bastian.
And while the kitties are still feeling things out, Ralph the mouse is not bothered by her in the least. Check it out! How do you like his cool new “living room set”, complete with lamp, chair, and TV? Ralphie is living in style, baby!
Her new favourite spot is up on my husband’s desk, behind or in front of the computer - seems to be the most popular spot in the house, I suppose, so why not hang out there? So I had to submit a shot of her for meme cats - how could I resist?
ETA: Oh, yes, picunurse! I got a new job at the beginning of May. Paint is my new game, and I love it.

How old was Boo when that picture was taken?
Our Marie, (here either cleaning or gnawing Chloe’s ear some six years ago at age ten weeks) grew into her (purportedly Burmese) ancestry with these colors and this personality.
If i had not seen her as a kitten, I would generally figure she was an odd cross between a racoon and a panda.

Holy cow, Marie is a beautiful cat! Boo is getting the same comments right now - tail like a raccoon, eyes like a panda. Maybe that’s why my two older girls are so grumbly - they see the potential beauty they have to put up with in the future. I’ve been giving them both lots of extra cuddles and attention, and they’re getting better.
Oh, yes, and to answer your question, Boo was ~10 weeks when that picture was taken, according to the vet. She’s been with us a week today, so she’s all of 11 weeks old. The vet and staff at the clinic went gaga over her, and I’ve been getting a phone call a day since I took her in from various staff members asking how she’s doing and to remember to bring her back in at the end of the month!
FTR, the vet called her a snowshoe. I don’t know what she is. She’s just Boo to us.
