*kai, I love sausage of all kinds as long as I don’t know exactly what’s in it. Feel free to send me some anytime. Yum.
You’ve all been busy. Me? Not so much. Tomorrow there’s an Indian place opening in the town south of here. $5 for all-you-can-eat buffet. I am so there. Yum.
No worries about any pain as long as my script for percoset lasts!
Oh, and Lucy has been saying her full name, she is able to stand up but not walk yet, and she has been cussing people out in Alutiq, so it looks like that, while she has a long road of rehabilitation in front of her, she will make a fairly complete recovery.
Then I’m gonna kick her butt. Okay, not really, but I am fervently hoping that this will help her address her alcoholism.
snowbunny the sausage we make doesn’t have any ghastly components, just seasoned meat ground up with some beef suet. I need to check the freezer, but I think I still have some to share. Email or pm me your address!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. It’s a workday later today. Oh well, such is life.
MOOOOOOM Miller Lite is what I usually drink. Get over it beer snobs. I like it! Occasionally I’ll get sump’n like Yuengling cause it’s good too. I don’t get all snooty with beer.
Time for more caffiene and some brekkies. Also need to bake the chicken casserole for brunch today but that does not take but 45 mins.
I slept in!!! Granted, it was just till 6:30, but for me, that’s sleeping in. I was having a stupid dream about running a yard sale at work in a vacated cubicle but I pretty much slept all the way thru. Huzzah!
I think my sweetie and I are going to breakfast this morning. And his W2 from his last job came in the mail, so I can do our taxes <insert nervous smiley here> … I also got a couple of bills that I’m not too sure about, so I need to make some calls on Monday. But the day will start with breakfast out. Plus it’s supposed to get up over 50°F today, which is almost but not quite warm enough to open some windows…
I just figured out as I was trying to put my slippers on this morning that I don’t stretch nearly enough. My flexibility is about gone, and that’s not good. So I think I need to look up some simple stretches that I can do at my desk or while watching TV just to keep myself from seizing up. Getting old sucks.
I think I’ll shower and get ready for a morning on the town. Laterz!
Good morning all, caffeinated here too. I’m getting ready to head out to the local Safeway to pick up the rest of the ingredients needed for my pulled pork bbq and lasagna, both of which I’m somewhat ambitiously going to make today. We’ll see about that, I guess.
Thanks, GT for the get well wishes - I am feeling some better this morning, although still stuffy/sneezy and my throat is still a bit sore. Thanks especially for the link to ravelry.com; I had been meaning to sign up there and that was the prod that I needed to do so!
Guess I’d better hit the grocery store before the Super Bowl party folks do. I definitely don’t want to get caught up in that crowd. LOL
I slept in, too! It was after 8:30 before I woke up. I think I woke up earlier for a bit, but next thing I knew it was 8:37 (or something like that). Yay!!!
I’m so glad to read that about Lucy, kai. Hope she’s able to understand what alcohol has done to her.
Now, I’m off to clear snow off my car and get ready for church. When last seen it was supposed to be warmish (above freezing) today. But there’s still a bunch of snow on my car.
pphhshh y’all don’t know what "sleeping in’ is all about! I consider this early for a weekend. I have been known to sleep till 2pm on a Saturday, and that’s even without having stayed out or up late on a Friday.
Peapod is coming today, or I’d still be in bed.
I tried standing on the risers yesterday, but the fear of falling was overwelming. I may try again next rehearsal, but they’re looking in to renting a riser chair which I will try. If it works, they may buy one.
I liked Brokeback Mountain. I sobbed at the end with the shirt.
Mr Rebo’s chili is awesome! Not too hot, but has a little kick. Yum! I have to go grocery shopping, then I’m off to the bar with him. I’ll come home later and make some wings and stuff.
We had fun at the DopeFest, even though there was only 5 of us. Little Nemo is a hoot!
Better get to coupon clipping. (Yes, I’m one of those).
This wasn’t the greatest morning. It started with the usual morning mess from my poor little dog, followed by a mysterious lack of power to my computer (the cats had hit the power strip), then my intermittently messed up monitor wouldn’t come on even after 5 or 6 reboots. I think I bruised my hand from smacking it so many times. Then I gave up, sniveled for a while and drank some coffee. I went out to the car to get my laptop but for some reason the wireless hub wasn’t on. Finally my partner woke up and replaced the monitor with another one he had. I’ve had better starts to my day.
Gardentraveller and anyrose, sleeping in for me is staying in bed until 6:30. Even as a kid I couldn’t sleep past sunrise. I love early mornings when it’s quiet and I can have my coffee on the porch with the animals in nice weather. We’re having such a warm winter that I’v been doing that all month.
I have had coffee. I had my Cheerios this morning, which I couldn’t do yesterday.
Every morning I have cereal, Marty got to finish the milk, and yesterday I just couldn’t bring myself to.
Today, being a National Holiday, I will allow myself to skip the gym, and be relatively sloth-like. Of course, there’s a bit of preparation for food, but not too much. The Usual Suspects will be by about an hour before kick-off, and right before halftime will be Eatin’ Time.
Today’s menu is simple. Steak Sammiches ala MBG. There not really being any real recipe where most of my cooking is concerned, here’s the basics:
Slather some French Rolls with garlic butter. Set aside.
Take some thin cut, boneless rib-eyes, marinate in a mixture generally consisting of:
Italian dressing; something citrus-y (usually limes), garlic, tabasco, and whatever else seems ok. Marinate about 3-4 hours.
Put bread under the broiler to lightly brown, grill steaks on VFH (Very Freaking Hot) grill, either stove top cast iron, or the outdoor grill. Insert cooked meat into bread. Enjoy.
criminey, I’ve been on Ravelry for several months now. It’s quite addictive… you start poking around, lose track of time, and next thing you know it’s 2am and you’ve spent 5 hours adding patterns to your queue. Wonderful, innit? (I’m registered there as MahnaMahna, if you happen to want to add random strangers to your contacts list)
swampus, free isn’t enough to get me to eat at Dead Lobster. Bletch. In fact, you couldn’t pay me to eat there… a good visit there is one that doesn’t end in food poisoning (OK, fine, their biscuits ain’t bad, but I can make those at home)
We’re having a grey weekend here in Tronna, so I’m brewing up a pot of sunshine to make up for it… or rather, a batch of blood orange marmalade, which is close enough. It’s also my first activity for Thing-A-Day Month. Nom nom nom. Other than that, not much planned except lots and lots of lounging about the house in PJs. It’s a tough life, but someone’s gotta live it, no?
OK, we’re gonna make fried rice. Daughter scored an electric wok from my mom, so we’ll take it on a spin. I’ve got rice cooking right now. Once it’s done, we’ll run to the grocery to get some applicable ingredients (veggies, sesame oil, oyster sauce) and see how it goes.
Next Sat, we’re going to see Oliver! at a local community theater. I’m hoping I can stop on Tues evening to get the tickets, since I pass the place on my way to class.
Speaking of which, daughter will be going with me. She wants to take belly-dancing, and it’s offered at the same campus and part of the same time when I’m in class. So she’ll have to hang around for an hour or so while I finish up - she can read or something. That means one day a week, I’ll have company. Yay.
More hugs for MBG. I was so sad to read your thread about him.
I’m not a big sleeper-inner, Karyn. I’m usually awake between 6 and 7 regardless of the day and regardless of how late I stayed up. So I’m chronically sleep-deprived (since I’m also bad at napping). Sleeping in today was a miracle.
Had lasagna, peas and an orange for lunch. I’m not sure that I ever actually had breakfast. Need to go out to get groceries and do some other shopping, but I guess I should wait on the groceries until the festivities have started. I have an invitation to a party, but I really don’t feel like going, so I’ma stay home and continue with the big clean-up and knit-in.
Scarf #2 is just about done. Need to get some double-pointed needles and maybe some circular ones for the hat and gloves/mittens. I know exactly what you mean about spending hours on Ravelry, Muppet. I spent an inordinate amount of time yesterday adding items to my queue and to my favorites. I’m gardentraveler over there as well (I’m some variation of that pretty much everywhere I go).
Guess I should get back to cleaning up and generally getting stuff done.
We’re surviving. There was a fair amount of snow on the way to and from Other Quasi-Daughter’s yesterday (baby is still damn cute, we ate Vietnamese, and my parents need to replace the windshield wipers on their car) but yesterday morning Nat was sick all over himself and his crib. That’s how he chose to greet the day. We wait a couple of hours, he seems fine, so we pack up and go.
He throws up all over himself and Mr. Lissar while we’re visiting.
Get home, put him to bed, he pukes again.
Spent a lot of last night cleaning. Sick toddler who wants to nurse and then barfs, doesn’t understand, “Let me know if you feel sick”= not a lot of fun. He got better (stopped puking) about two. We’re spending today doing laundry and sitting around. I feel a little burnt.
He’s okay now, but a little cranky. I have trouble focusing my eyes. We are eating takeout and chilling today. (Nat gets an exciting diet of breastmilk, arrowroot cookies, and Cheerios)
