Self-Quarantined In The MMP

So much for JoAnn’s… But I did order elastic from Da Jungle, and I’m going to Michael’s to look at fabric bundles. It’s too hard to buy that on line.

I LOOOOVE mine. I got it so I could play classical music for my cats while I was out of the house. I’ve always enjoyed classical music, but like… didn’t know enough about it to really know what I liked, really. We don’t have a classical radio station in my area, so having classical radio- where they not only play the music, but tell you about it- was kind of a revelation. I listen to KUSC, which is from Los Angeles. It’s a great station… except when they do the weather and they’re all “it’s 81 and sunny!” as I look out the window at the wet snow. Yep… it’s snowing today.

Kid is in the other room playing with her dolls and she’s got them doing a pretend Youtube video, which I think is kind of hilarious- “Hey, what’s up guys, it’s Elsa and Zoe here and we just found this unicorn… so don’t forget to like and subscribe and we’ll see you next week!”

I’m bored and grouchy. I want to go OUT. There’s a park around here that has elk and bison (and deer and racoons and turkeys) roaming around freely within the park. You’re allowed to get out and hike and picnic in certain places (but there are big signs everywhere saying “ABSOLUTELY DO NOT APPROACH THE ELK”), but most people just drive through. I think I might ask the person who is taking me to my appointment tomorrow if we can drive through there on the way back. I want it to be warm and dry enough to open my window. I need air and birds.

Kid just raced down the hallway- “MOM!!! What has a face and hands, but no eyes?” “Uh… A face and hands but no eyes? I don’t know.” “A CLOCK!! Dorothy taught me that one!” and then she ran back to the living room. I’m so proud.

Howdy Y’all! WE attempted to listen to the streamlined Eucharist this mornin’. It kept pausin’ and breakin’ up so about half way in we gave up. Then we made the feast and et it. That was followed by nappage. I could make some phone calls but don’t wanna. 'Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin out and looks like rain is on the way.

I just got some test results back. My CSF shows an immune response that could indicate something like meningitis, or MS. None of the possibilities make a lot of sense, but I am now even more firmly in the group of those who cannot go out. I am sad and scared.

Fred Meyer had one package of toilet paper. Four rolls, and the plastic was torn open. I bought it. We don’t buy toilet paper until we need it. I also bought two boxes of firestarters for the wood stove, antiperspirant, and some Eggwiches.

Just popped a Broc/cauliflower/carrot gratin casserole in the oven. Guess what’s for supper??

The dishwasher installation has turned into an all day project. I suppose he will finish it today. I have been hiding with the pup in the bedroom in order to stay out of the way.

Sleepy. Ready for nighttime so I can go to sleep.

Happy Sunday evening everyone!

Howdy all. Ran the dishwasher this morning and finally put up the shelf I bought a couple weeks ago. Having no talent in home stuff, I made (to borrow from our English friends) a dog’s breakfast out of it, but it’s staying up and repairing the screwholes if I move it ain’t worth the effort, so it’ll stay put. Ordered a sammich and chips from the new Which Wich (sub sammich shop) that opened close to me and it was ready when I picked it up, so dinner has been consumed.

Not watching all that much TV, have a couple of books I’m working through and subscribed to Virtual Railfan so I can watch trains in multiple locations (I’ve loved watching trains since I was 4 years old). Between that and planefinder.com, I’m keeping up with the transportation in the USA…

Butters, hope the dishwasher makes up for the hassle of installation.

{{Sunny}}, hang in there, hope they can narrow it down and it’s treatable.

Dot, I get out once a day (we’re not as restricted yet as other places), either to shop or eat or just a quick drive around. I hope you get your ride-through.

FCM, you are doing a good thing. May your masks be ever useful.

Sari, sounds like the professors aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed. And a 3.9 instead of a 4.0 isn’t too shabby if it comes to that.

Need to give little brother a call and then some general internettin’. Catch you all on the next MMP.

Mooooooom, who are your favorite big bands? (I lean toward Benny Goodman and Woody Herman)

Dot, while our city parks are closed, the state parks remain open, although the visitor centers are shuttered. They are reserving the right to close restrooms when warranted.

Speaking of which, Nelson and I went to Long Hunter State Park about 8 miles away and hiked a bit today. Not off leash, but exercise for both of us and different smells for him.

There were salmon patties, fried cabbage, colomorbus and oatmeal cranberry muffins. Twas yum!

I don’t know that I have a favorite band. I like brass. I tend to prefer instrumentals to vocalists by a slim margin. And Take the A Train is close to my favorite piece.

I like that I hear a lot of Ella Fitzgerald. My mom played her records all the time when I was growing up, and I think she was an amazing talent.

The casserole was really good - hardly any leftovers. It’s definitely going into the rotation.

I refilled my pill caddy, so I’m good for meds for another 4 weeks. Time to assume the position till bedtime.

My son heard back from the professor and he can redo the assignment, so once again we made salad dressing and mayonnaise.
Lots of cussing involved with making mayonnaise. Especially when my son was using the inversion blender, lifted it out of the bowl and forgot to let go of the power button.
Much mess with that one.
It is done, pictures are taken. He needs to download them to his computer and turn everything in.
Now I feel like I can breathe again.

Finally, the dishwasher is washing dishes. Supper is sketties and hubs is cooking so I get to unload and reload the dishwasher. Our house is a bit of a mess. We don’t have enough space for all the food we have acquired so some of it will get boxed up and put somewhere. If nothing else we are already stocked up for Hurricane Season.

I never did get a yea or nay on my request for a week off so I shall go to irk and hope we get released. We are not essential. In fact, all our vendors are closed. I am terrified of bringing the virus home to him. They say there is only one confirmed case in the Upper Keys but now that all visitors have been ordered to leave maybe it will be less likely. Once Miami and Fort Lauderdale closed their beaches the spring breakers from up there poured into the Keys so community spread is a possibility. Finally our governor said “ party is over” and shut down all beaches and state parks in the state. Funny thing is the Mayor of KW put out a list of essential business and liquor stores was number three on that list. I am glad they recognized that there is a lot of drinking in this county.

Sad my short weekend is over. See you all in the next MMP.

Greetings from Chateau Nellie! Sundays are phone call day in my family, so I’ve started this several times due to interruption. My Zumba teacher had class live online today, so that was a nice change of pace. And I got to learn how to use Zoom.

Hats off to you good seamstresses who are helping out in a pinch. I wish I could sew. Here’s a site that discusses best materials to use, all scientific-like. I notice some of the youtube videos show people using an extra layer of fabric or a piece of vacuum cleaner bag. Maybe not such a good idea, according to this site. Y’all know much better than I, though.

Sari, glad things are getting straightened out for your son’s project. Too bad we can’t make face masks out of cabbage. Then you wouldn’t have so much to eat.
**
Sunny**, I’m sorry you have those test results to worry about. I hope you get answers soon, and that they’re a relief.

Cupcake, it’s interesting about the liquor stores. I understand they’re usually considered an essential business. I guess for a lot of people, if you’re going to be cooped up with your spouse and kids for months, there’d better be alcohol.

butters, considering your situation, could you request FMLA as a caregiver?

Chilling for a bit before walking the dog and hitting the hay. I’m trying to keep to a similar sleep schedule during the week, even though I don’t have to get up early for three days. Technically, I’m on call, so I’ll get up, shower, dress putter around the house and play in the studio all day. I’m hoping it’s warm enough to garden next weekend.

Made a beer run. Teeter is slowing getting back in stock(except meat and potatoes). Made poke chops with Pig Salt, roasted red potatoes with a rosemary garlic salt, and green beans for dinner.

I like the Dorsey Brothers. My one LP has Sinatra singing on it.

Mooommm one of my most cherished memories is seeing Ella Fitzgerald perform. I really like her.
ETA: how could I forget? Dinner tonight shall be California Pizza Kitchen BBQ chicken pizza, and shrimp scampi, with a hamburger for 'Beamer.
Also my neighbors are having a party. It’s loud and annoying, and stupid, considering that we’re on lock-down. I don’t think the police are enforcing that, unfortunately.
