Self-Quarantined In The MMP

Well, Instacart STILL hasn’t arrived, with ONE item out of NINE. I started getting a blizzard of “refunding this item, out of stock” messages an hour after the last update on ETA, hours AFTER the order was reported as completely shopped. The driver also claimed to have delivered my one item at 8:45pm. She made that claim at 8:30pm.

Instacart is getting a very heated complaint about this screwup.

Ugh, I would be so frustrated. Instacart isn’t good about telling you what’s in stock on a good day and I imagine they’re a total mess right now. I know the struggle- where if you just had the ability, you’d go to a different store or a couple different ones or pick something else entirely in place of the thing that wasn’t in stock, but you have to depend on this service, so everything is once removed and you end up with nothing.

I’ve been up since 3, when my cat decided it was absolutely imperative that I pet him immediately . Haven’t been able to get back to sleep yet, but it’s my day off, so there’s time.

T-minus one day til I see the doctor. I realize I’m not going to walk out of there cured. It’s still sweet to dream that he’ll be able to do SOMETHING, at least. I’m ridiculously nervous.

I am losing my sense of smell. I’ve known this for a while - apparently I’m the only one in the household who can’t tell when Roxy has filled her britches. This morning, I did a sniff test on the milk before pouring it on my cereal. No sour smell, but *UGH *nasty taste. Raisin bran in the trash, hard boiled egg on a tortilla for breakfast instead.

Quite a bit colder this morning and still overcast. But the long range forecast stays above freezing. I think it’s safe enough to get my spider plants out of the garage and put them on the front porch. They’ll be happier there in the sun and rain.

No plans beyond that. Roxy will spend the day with her other grandparents and if I get bored enough, I’ll dust or something. Don’t think I’ll work outside, tho, unless the sun comes out.

Happy Sunday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slug abed until seven-thirty! ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 72 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon/evenin’. We shall see. No plans to leave da cave today. At ten our Bishop will livestream Eucharist and at six my church shall livestream Evenin’ Prayer. We shall watch both. Sup shall be fried chikin, smashed N.O.T. ‘n gravy, green beans, squishes, cornbread and maybe peach cobbler. Both of us have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for some down home cookin’. 'Twill be nummy!

Dot appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for a good outcome at the doc’s tomorrow.

flyboy I have two of those Craftsman’s pliers. One for outside stuff and one for inside stuff. One of the best tools ever!

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

There was a local FB lost asking for people to make masks for the medical community. I’m waiting for a reply to my email to them so I know what to buy. I can sew!

Are you my mother? :stuck_out_tongue: This is one of her famous Sunday dinners.

I hope that you get some answers when you go to the doctor dot.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasting and will do KP after. I will likely nip into Staples to get a project component and that will be my “out of the house” time other than a walk along the greenway.

Y’all take care of yourselves!

Morning all. 45F in N. Ali-bama today, but it is supposed to get to 80F later this week, so there is that. Usually Sunday is when I go out to eat at some nice ‘sit-down’ place, but they’re all closed for now, so I’ll either eat in or get carry-out. Don’t think I mentioned it, but the McDonald’s folks yesterday were all wearing gloves, including the lady who took my money, so at least one local place is trying.

Dot, hope the appointment goes well.

Nettie, I’ve never used a grocery service, hope you finally have some success.

FCM, it’s my hearing that’s going, really need to see an ear specialist, but I’m one of those “it isn’t that bad yet” folks, so it may be awhile.

Happy B-day Buddy!! (+1)

I will now prepare a Big bowl O’Cereal in celebration of solving all three Sudokus this morning without getting frustrated or ‘peeking’ at the answers. All y’all take care.

Happy Sunday!

It was a cold and windy 34, feels like 25, degrees at the park this morning.
At least the sun is shining.
Normally we stay until about 9, we were out of there before 8:30 today. To cold for us, the dogs love it.

I was the last one there this morning. I got all the way out to the gate, opened it and called the dogs to get in the truck, and they both stood there looking at me like I was crazy. I went to put Echo’s leash on her and realized I had forgotten to put their harnesses on them. They know they are not allowed to go out naked. So I had to come back in the house and get them dressed, which wasn’t easy because they were all excited and didn’t want to stand still.

Going to be irking most of today.

Dishwasher loaded. Strawberries cleaned. I’m thinking I’ll clean some cabinets today. I started a month or so ago and kinda forgot. It’s an easy enough job, so why not? Plus it beats dusting.

I find I’m enjoying my Echo Dot - I can get Big Band music on command. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong era.

What are they made from?

Morning. I ventured to the grocery store. No chicken to be had. Still no PT and TP even though I am good. The place was a madhouse with only three registers open. I have done about all I’m gonna do today. That wore me out.

Hubs is installing the new dishwasher. I do need to do some laundry. And cook something for later but I don’t know what yet.

Tahred. Happy Sunday everyone.

Some happy news
The big ugly wart on the end of Echo’s snout fell off today.
We noticed some blood on it at the park and thought maybe she bumped it on something, but it is gone.

Four cabinets cleaned, plus the top of the fridge - boy, was it furry! I had to get SIL to reach the back 6" or so - neither daughter nor I could do it and I didn’t want to pull the fridge out.

I’ve got a bunch of glasses to go to the thrift store. They haven’t been used in years, so no sense in keeping them. Plus I unpacked some glasses I bought a few years back to restock our daily use drinking vessels. We have more breakage than I like.

Roxy is on her way to her grandma’s. Just 3 more upper cabinets to go - I’ll leave the base cabinets for another day when I feel up to crawling on the floor.

It is chilly and overcast. Gordie and I have been on several anti Invisible Mole People patrols. We shunned the people we saw, of course. I must do a beer run(and see if there is meat to be had)

Good luck at the doc’s, Dots!

bMoooooooommmm!**, I got some Big Band LPs. And Sirius has a channel, too.

In the next-to-the-last cabinet for today, I found a spaghetti bowl I bought in Sicily 37 years ago. It had a recipe glazed into it, and I just translated it. It’s sausage, onion, garlic, and mushrooms sautéed and served over buttered pasta, topped with sauce and parsley. Not quite as exotic as I’d hoped…

OK, back to reloading that cabinet and on to the last one… for today.

**doggio **- You have excellent musical taste!

My son is having a rough time right now.

Yesterday he took a test and got 15 out of 20 right. There were only 15 questions on the test, but one question had 6 parts to it. Because the test is graded automatically he sent an email to the professor and asked about it. She sent back that he got 5 of the 6 parts wrong. He knows he didn’t. It isn’t due until April 3, so he figures when more students question the grade the professor is going to have to go look at it.

Now today he got an assignment back, big fat 0. He had to send in pictures as proof he did the assignment, but because his face isn’t in any of them, they don’t count. He is in the pictures, just not his face.
Well, he has another assignment due today, it’s been done for weeks, but none of the pictures include his face. So we had to run out to the store (an adventure) and get another head of red cabbage. I just cooked and ate the last of it last night. He’s not going to redo the entire cabbage experiment, just enough to get his face in a picture. He is going to ask if he can redo the other one just to get the pictures, his hands and arms in in the pics just not his face.
I am so glad he got the first one graded before he submitted the second one.
It is likely he won’t get an A in this class now, ruining his 4.0 gpa. There is another assignment the professor didn’t give him full credit for, I think her fault for the way she worded it, and he let it go, because it wasn’t a big assignment. Now he really needs those points. The only way he can get an A now is to get a perfect score on all future assignments.

So in a panic, I had to log out of irk, which means missed about an hour and a half of irk. We went to the store. I have not been inside a grocery store in years. OMG!!! It is HUGE! I didn’t even know where to start, couldn’t find anything. It didn’t help that half the shelves were empty. There were out of butter, which I need, unless I wanted to pay an outrageous price for KerryGold. No eggs. No TP, not that I need any. The only thing in the paper aisle was paper plates, and there weren’t many of those. The only ground beef was 80%, too greasy for my son’s tacos. A lot of the things were marked no more than 2 per customer. They did have a lot of ice cream and baked goods. I had to make two trips across the store to find what all I needed, and some stuff I never found. I got him some tortillas, they are $1.74 from da jungle, $2.19 at the store.
Now I wish I had bought some ice cream and a rotisserie chicken.
We’re good to go for another two weeks at least though.
I hope by then we can go back to the sanity of online ordering.

UGH This board is plucking my nerves.

I just cooked and ate last night, the rest of the cabbage he had used for the eperiment.
It was starting to look a little wilted.

I also am living dangerously. I forgot to take sanitizing wipes with me.
I pumped gas and touched a shopping cart.
I felt bad that I picked up a pack of ground beef and put it back down. After that, if I picked something up I put it in my cart, so I paid way too much for pork chops and chicken breasts.

Which reminds me that somebody left a sanitizing wipe stuffed in the gate at the park. Why they couldn’t put it in the trash?

Wall cabinets are done! I’ve got a pile of stuff to go to the thrift store. And now I can be a slug without guilt.

I also got the pattern to make surgical masks. I’m going to order the fabric and elastic from JoAnn’s and have it delivered. I don’t want to drive all the way down there, plus the email indicated elastic is hard to find around here. I can be charitable and lazy.

Moommm my mom and her quilt guild are making masks too.

Not sure what today will bring. Maybe a run out to Trader Joes. Maybe nothing.
