I use these. (Yes, I do.)
OMG - Aldi was picked bare and the checkout line stretched up one aisle and down another! I walked in, then walked out.
FL wasn’t as crowded, but there was no ground beef to be had - not even frozen burger patties. The beef they had was the high end stuff - $10/lb and up - nope! So I got some fresh produce and the last pack of turkey bacon. I’ll try next week for some more dead cow.
Got dressed and went out for a bit. Traffic is WAY down from the usual Sattiday morning confusion, and I had to bring the Mickey D’s stuff home as the sit-down areas are closed. The people handling the food (and even the money) were wearing gloves, which I never noticed before. I think except for checking the mail it’ll be another cooped-up day for yours truly.
FCM, didn’t even try the stores today…not brave enough, I guess…
Sari, I think that’s a great idea to get Sah-son some real-life job experience, and sounds like he won’t have a better opportunity or boss to do it with.
Nut, so help me, you go and create the Triffids…
swampy, yeah on the cap removal and trust you chatted at a safe distance…
All y’all take care.
Trader Joe’s had a line to get in today so they could control how many people were inside. Aside from enabling that good ol’ social distancing, it enabled them to have pretty much everything that wasn’t TP or paper towels in stock. Helping with that was a new policy of only two items of undefined staples. Lots of bread to choose from, plenty of meat and bananas. They even had eggs and milk.
Hmmmm, it appears I killed the MMP (or everyone has become a zombie due to an unforseen side effect of the COVID-19 virus…)
Anyway, paid the Gas bill (so all my utilities are good until next month) and stopped at Kroger for a few items (bread is picked over but some remains, ditto for milk, deli is stocked, TP and paper towels are gone, and dishwashing liquid is available, but one per customer. Got distracted and started to leave without paying (they nabbed me), then played with the neighbors puppy (A labradoodle) who jumped up in excitement and got me right in the formal dances. Guess he had been cooped up too long to…
Think I’ll be in the rest of the day. I’ll let the rest of you do the posting.

Just ordered pizza for delivery. I couldn’t face a foraged meal.
I was tired and took a nap, a long 3 hour nap.
So basically nothing much is getting done today except irk.
The landlords next door were cleaning out the upstairs apartment today. The dogs were barking and I looked up just in time to see the room sized rug go by. I guess it is easier to dump it out the window than drag it through the apartment and down the stairs.
I need a few things from the store, but I am dreading the trip. Well, the only thing I really need is tortillas, my son uses them to make soft tacos. I usually get them from da jungle as they are cheaper there than at the grocery store.
I did order a six pack of enchilada kits, they came today which is earlier than expected. He can make do with those until I feel like braving the store. I guess you can substitute ground beef for the chicken. If not, then I’ll need to buy some chicken.
I’m looking at this situation as an opportunity to clean out the pantry, fridge, and freezer. See how creative I can get to use up all the stuff around here.
It takes me several tries and dedication to watching the page to see if it loads in order to actually get to the MMP. I made it! woo-hoo!
I suppose we might try delivery pizza tonight. Otherwise, it will be foraging.
I’m making fish Florentine and asparagus tonight. I’m thawing the fish now.
Howdy!
Tis been a bizzy day. I cleaned the upper cabinets in the kitchen, did 3 loads of laundry, scrubbed the tub and switched the planned salmon patties for supper out for avgolemano. It was good, but the lemons that I used were big and I should have only used one instead of 2.
We have 5 Covid-19 cases in my county, one of whom works at my irkplace. The two counties bordering the west have 140 and 47 each (they are Nashville and a snooty suburb to the south of them). Tonight, I’ll finish the housekeeping in the studio, make a household task list for my time off, surf the net and begin a new project.
Food Lion had cheese, but nothing in the meat case but gizzards, Beyond Meat, and $20 steaks.
I. am fine. We. are all. fine.braiinnnnssssssswhere are. you?
It is at this time not possible to schedule a Walmart delivery order. If I were to schedule Instacart from my usual store for it, earliest would be Tuesday. Today’s Instacart was scheduled between 2-4pm, but ETA is now as late as 5:45. I’ve received several apologetic messages about delays. I’m not mad at them, I know they’re having a huge surge of activity.
Didn’t really feel up to hunting medical offices today, need to do so tomorrow. Temperature is oscillating around 98F, which is not clinically a fever, but is about a degree higher than my normal.
I shall venture out to the grocery store early before the vultures take everything. Not really needing a whole lot but feel like I need to get some more chicken.
Today is Buddy Boy’s First birthday. Still no word on closing my business but I had an email today asking if any of our employees have any medical appointments scheduled out of the Lower Keys to Miami or Fort Lauderdale. No one does. We have canceled all hubs appointments until further notice. The email also wanted to know if we are prepared to shelter in place. Well Duh, of course for about two weeks already. I sent in a request to just use a week of vacay time while they drag their heels. No response on that yet.

Happy Birthday Buddy!
Just got an email that the MVA is shutting their doors, so depending on how long they stayed closed, I may not be able to renew my license. Fortunately the expiration dates are being extended until 30 days after they reopen.
Having a bunch of stuff getting cancelled is kind of nice in that I don’t want to do it anyway, but not so nice in that all of a sudden I am going to have a half dozen things to do in a short period of time.
My son is making me crazy reading his homeirk assignments to me, for about the 10th time each.
I’m glad that he takes his school irk seriously and strives to do his best, but I hate hearing this same stuff over and over as he polishes it up.
Now I know why mama birds kick the babies out of the nest.
Hello, Mumpers. I thought I’d never get on here today!
I’ve been reading your accounts of bare grocery shelves and packed stores. Why is this still happening? Are there that many people who, having bought 96 rolls of TP and scored 10 lbs. of ground beef and more chicken than Colonel Sanders, are out for more? God help us all. The greed and stupidity are really disheartening.
Love and hugs to you all, especially Nettie and DH and WetOne.
Instacart ETA is now as late as 7:30. I’m starting to worry if the chocolate milk is going to be too warm by the time it arrives.
Temp is fluctuating, last check was 98.3. Not clinically a fever but warmer than my norm, and I’m uncomfortable. Advice nurse said no NSAIDs, and acetaminophen has a tendency to put me to sleep.
Happy birthday Buddy! :skritches:
Happy Birthday Buddy!!!
nellie, it’s a combo of hoarding, trying to price gouge, and a system not set up for a system wide 600% increase in demand.
