The governor has issued a stay at home order until April 7. There was panic in the street as people rushed to buy more toilet paper. I bought chips and cookies. Unfortunately the barn is banning boarders until the order is over. After tomorrow I won’t be seeing Ariel for 3 weeks. This sucks.
GMTA swampy. While the salmon patties won’t be tonight (I schlepped down the street for a rebellious Moe burger), they are on the menu for tomorrow night.
sari, around here, most of the municipal parks have playgrounds and ball fields, so that’s why the ones in our town are closed. Our state parks are staying open, with the option to close visitor centers and restrooms as needed. Nelson and I may head over to Long Hunter one day next week.
Mooooooom, my former stepson’s daughter made it until 2 and a half before requiring ER attention. We were at my niece’s for Easter dinner and after, the kids went to the back yard with the niece’s 16 year old SIL to ride herd. She was with Katie in the glider swing when Katie decided to bail. One dislocated shoulder later… To top it off, they were visiting from 500 miles away and she was going to have to ride home in her car seat hurt.
{{{wet one}}} I know you’ll miss Ariel.
I had my irk meeting via telephone this afternoon. The weekend shift coordinator blustered in a couple of blatant, checkable lies. He pretty much admitted to fudging numbers and not following process. Oh, well. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel at this point.
I hit the grocery stores this morning. I thought Aldi opened at 8, but it wasn’t until 9. I got there about 8:40. I got one of the last carts available. They had limits on things like canned beans and tomatoes, eggs and a few other things. I found that it was a lot like it was last week there: the regular stuff was decimated but the organics were in good supply. While waiting for the store to open, I thought that one 70 something woman was going to try to whoop on a young woman with two small, well behaved children. The older woman was getting pushy to try to get to the front of the line and the younger one wouldn’t give up her spot.
Kroger also had limits, but then again, it tended to be things that I didn’t need. Tomorrow, I’ll treat the day as a usual weekend one. I’m going to try to keep to an early schedule when I’m off through the week, since technically, I’ll be on call.
Sucketh mightily. WetOne
Got notice tonight that the doggie daycare is closed. I just bought another package, I should have waited. My money sucks right now.
The local Rite-Aid is out of toilet paper. As in, they have none. Their next delivery is Tuesday.
Making chicken(while it lasts) with orzo with a lemon butter wine sauce, and sauteed asparagus and mushrooms. No shelter in place order yet. I will hit the likker sto tomorrow, just in case.
We have a rather rotund possum that lives at the complex pool.

Glad that I bought and quickly filled a freezer in the garage about a month ago. Also glad I bought an 18-pack of mega roll TP before anyone even thought of hoarding the stuff. That’s something like 104 rolls in Charmin Bear Math.
The entire state went on lockdown last night. Good news for me is that I’m already a full-time telecommuter in a globally critical position, so I’ll keep on with keeping the bad guys out of the mainframes. Bad news for PWAISDN as going to the barber or hair stylist was specifically called out as forbidden in San Francisco’s lockdown back on Monday, and is also considered non-essential per the state. He’s now utterly and completely unable to work.
At least my employer is fairly generous with my time and is letting, if not actually encouraging us to volunteer while getting our regular pay. I did a couple hours yesterday at the local food bank sorting and packaging apples and onions, and will be doing more of the same next week.
I’m sorry to hear about the barn, Wet One. It doesn’t make sense to me, but maybe things will settle out a little bit and you can go ride.
Nettie I’m sorry to hear about your situation. I hope things go smoothly.
Take care everyone.
I am so sorry to hear about this. Take care, we will be thinking of you, and I will keep you and DH in my prayers.
**Nettie **- hope it’s a false alarm! Healthy thoughts coming your way~~~
I went to our state’s site about the virus, and so far, there are no cases in my county and only a couple in adjacent counties. The majority are around DC. MD had its second death from the virus - an older man as I recall.
Didn’t realize till this week how often we’d been eating out. I’m straining my meal-planning muscles! :eek: On the plus side, it’s cheaper and we’re slowly emptying the freezer. On the minus side, I feel like I’m always washing dishes!!! I need to do a freezer and fridge inventory today. When I next go to the store, I don’t want to get anything I don’t need right now.
It rained overnight and it’s still raining. No yard work today. Which is probably good - it’ll give my aches a chance to subside. After being mostly idle, all my raking muscles are displeased. Luckily, tylenol helps.
Meanwhile, the household is asleep. I’ve got Big Band music on Alexa while I surf. Not a bad way to start the day. Happy Saturday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (partly moony?) with a predicted high of 82 and mostly N.O.S. for the day although there could be a chance of rain later in the day. Or not. Once again TWPTB are bein’ all willy-nilly. Not much happenin’ today. I will betake myself over to the church house to take a crack at openin’ a biiiiiiiiiiig container of liquid paraffin that is apparently bein’ difficult. Our Verger texted me yestiddy to say she has given up on tryin’ to get the thing open and asked me if I would take a crack at it, so I am. The Sanctuary Lamp needs to be filled. This is a must do! Other than that, who knows what the day may hold. Any need to feed will be via eat up leftovers in da fridge.
{{{Nettie and DH}}} hope everything goes smoothly and that this is, a worst, a mild case.
{{{WetOne}}}
{{{gotti and PWAISDN sucks mightily that PWAISDN is out of irk for the duration. Hope things settle down soonest. Good to know your employer is bein’ generous with the allowin’ to volunteer. I am sure what you are doin’ is both needed and worthy.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Alas!
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
{{{nettie and DH}}}
Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, a load of towels in the wash and the puppy crate cleaned. Soon, I’ll start KP and a crock of a pot of avgolemono for lunches this week. After the usual Saturday chores, if it’s not raining, I’ll take Nelson for a walk on the air base trail. The poor little guy misses dog park time and hanging with his puppy peeps.
nettie and husband That is hugs but I’ll be darned if I can figure out how to do it on this iPad.
{{{{Nettie and DH}}}} Hope it’s not severe; are they going to swab/test you to see if you’re actually carrying?
{{Wet one}}. Hopefully the staff will take good care of Ariel until this mess is over.
gotti, glad you can work, I don’t think PWAISDN is alone in being without work.
Sari, Just be glad the kid is graduating. One more checkmark.
swampy, good luck with the lamp.
FCM, we have 5 confirmed COVID-19 cases in my county, but there are limited tests so the actual numbers are not known. At least I’m feeling much better, I think the cold/bronchitis has finally departed my system.
Got up early and, in a burst of activity, vacuumed the whole house and cleaned the fireplace area (since I never use it, it’s been redacted since it’s been cleaned. All that activity has worn me down so I’m internettin’ for awhile…
57F for the high, at least the rain is gone, but the heater is back to work. May have to get out and do a few things today.
Everybody take care now.
Red, I think I waited to the age of seven to break anything (right arm falling off a slide). Going to be a long trip. And hope the idiot at work gets what is coming to him (knowing bureaucrazy as I do, that’ll probably be a bonus).
I just did an inventory of the 2 freezers. Both small, so not a huge task. Lots of veggies, enough chicken and pork for maybe half a dozen meals, one meatloaf, 2 burgers, some shrimp and fish and fake crab, and 2 loaves of bread. I thought I’d had a London broil in there, but apparently we ate it. I think I’ll try to get some more burger patties or ground beef, and maybe a couple of hunks of dead cow. Food Lion has had some good strawberries - I may go there. But Aldi has better deals on meat. What to do…?
As soon as I swap out the loads in the dryer, I think I’ll head to Aldi.
Happy Saturday!
It was a cloudy and cold 42 degrees at the park this morning. Only cold because of the wind. I’m glad I took my hat and gloves.
We left earlier than usual, which is a shame because the dogs were having a great time.
I got there early and was there for almost 2 hours, my friends got there later than I did but weren’t dressed for it. All of us were ready to go before 9.
Lots of places hiring up here, I’m debating pushing my son to take advantage of it or let him still concentrate on school. One of my friends works at a store that is hiring and she would probably be the one who trains him. She has a daughter who has social anxiety so she is used to dealing with it and could probably work wonders with my son. It would be a good starter job.
I think I am going to push him a little.
As far as I know there are no cases of covid in my county either. No plans at this time to close the park, although all the buildings are closed and all events have been cancelled.
{{{Nettie and DH}}} and {{{Gotti and partner}}}
Poor Nelson, it’s hard on the pups when they can’t see their friends. Hard on us because they have so much more energy.
I already told a few of the people at the park that if the park closes they can come here every morning, as I am the only one with a fenced in yard.
The sun is coming out, supposed to get up to 50. That will be nice if the wind dies down.
I don’t know what I’m doing today. I have enough to do, it’s just deciding what I will do.
**sari **- since I don’t know which county you’re in, it’s either 0 or 1, per this map. Obviously, the majority are in the DC/Baltimore areas. No surprise there, I’d say.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It’s starting to drizzle. The neighbors took Fluffy for a drive earlier. Gordie lost his Skittles, since The Invisible Mole People were threatening them.
Washington County, zero.
Thanks for that link
I should call my mother and see how she is handling this. With all four of my niece’s boys staying home from school, I’ll bet she is going crazy.
{{Sickies, Sickos and the worried}}
Afternoon. I’m not feeling dodgy at all today, so that’s good.
I’ve been playing with other less popular virii; plant ones, for my skool project. My living room and bedroom have been turned into impromptu microbiology labs.
Currently, the testing is making no sense, but it is proving kind of entertaining.
Howdy Y’all! The jar opener I took with me did the trick. Got the cap off the biiiiiiiiig jug of stuff with almost no effort. YAY! EYP was there so we chatted for a few minutes which I enjoyed very much. This was to be a CDI weekend, but, needless to say, that got cancelled. I et a sammich a little bit ago and am now contemplatin’ nappage. What? I’m old and retired. Nappage is now part of my job description.
