Self-Quarantined In The MMP

Metal Mouse - a greengrocers is basically a fruit and veg shop, though my local one branches out a little, and has some extra fresh produce and some dried spices and beans an stuff like that at the back.

Feeling utterly washed out and headachey today, which means I’m obviously getting paranoid and considering getting a little bell to ring and shout ‘Unclean!’, but I think it’s just the panic of the last few days, which has felt a little like grabbing stuff from a sinking ship.

I should probably venture out to get tyres sorted for the car, as it has two which need replacing, and it’d be a lot cheaper to get them before sending my car in to be tested, which has now been delayed til next week. The rules are currently that you don’t have to have a spare, but if you have one when it gets tested, it has to be legal- therefore if I put my shiny new spare on and simply don’t have a spare, I only have to buy one new tyre, but if I send it in as is, I have to get 2

I may leave it til Monday, hopefully I’ll feel more like going out by then, and the car’s currently booked in for Tuesday. With luck it’ll be still open by then.

Morning, mumpers! We got an email today saying that all non-essential services on campus will be closing down until at least 1st June so we will all be working from home as best we can during that time. My team will have a lot to do as our exams will be done online now, although some will require a bit of work around them as we have oral/aural exams and our music students have recitals and performance as part of their assessment.

Everyone is working out what to take home with them, our IT dept are issuing the necessary cables and chargers so people can take monitors to use alongside the laptops because so many of us use at least two screens, and we have some massive spreadsheets that are really uncomfortable to work with on a laptop screen.

Having seen the reports of absolute lunacy in the supermarkets, I am not venturing near one of those for a while. We have a few corner shops that I can get to, I think they are likely to be better stocked than the big stores. I don’t need much at the moment, so I am not stocking up on anything at all, apart from possibly vodka and wine!

Nuts, my car is booked in for a service and MoT at Halford on Monday morning so I am hoping they can still do that. I don’t carry a spare tyre so no need to worry about that, the only ones I’ve got are round my middle  I did read something from the AA saying that cars which cannot get an MoT will get a kind of cover note for insurance purposes due to the exceptional circumstances so I am not going to worry about that too much.

Good morning!

Daughter is on her way to Lowe’s to buy the lumber for Roxy’s swing set and deck. I downloaded the instructions, so we can cut all the wood to size, then when the hardware arrives, we can assemble it. Meanwhile, I need to make a cover for the sandbox, and daughter and I will clear the area where the swingset will go - it’s pretty leafy at the moment. We’ll also move some pavers that we need in that area.

Meanwhile, Roxy is having a bowl of corn chex - she lurves that cereal! **FCD **and SIL are still abed (different beds, different rooms - keep it clean, folks!! :stuck_out_tongue: ) I’m caffeinating before having to get dressed. It’s supposed to hit 80 here today - I think I’ll actually wear shorts!!

Happy Firday!!

Put the spare on for the inspection, put an old tire in for the spare afterwards.

I was planning on getting a part-worn one from a local place- so, legal, and safe to drive on for a while, but cheaper’n a proper new one. I’ve never actually changed a tyre, every time I’ve gone to, some random guy has appeared out of nowhere and done it for me, which was nice of them, but means I’m not sure what to do… I don’t think I’m up to doing that today.

It’s all a bit complicated, my MOT is being arranged via my neighbour, whose son is the mechanic, and for some reason all communication is going via him, so I can’t check what’s going on. We’re fairly rural out here, so I’m guessing the mechanics will be staying open, as there’s still going to be a lot of people driving.

Wow, we’ve made it all the way to Friday.

I’m spent. One more day of “homeschool” this week and two more of work. I’m not sure I have it in me. I’m considering making this her honorary Saturday and letting her watch TV and eat cheese all day while I work. Then we can get back to it tomorrow.

I probably won’t. I’ll figure it out. But we’re definitely not building anything today and I’ll probably assign her an episode of SciGirls at some point. Lord, I feel like crap.

Oh, damn. There’s her door. Guess it’s time for school.

My mom just canceled our family Easter dinner. My sister’s cruise in April has been canceled, and Mom’s trip to Germany in May is also canceled.

Disturbing world we’re living in…

Happy Firday all. It’s 67F this morning, but that’s as warm as it’s going to get, rain is due for the majority of the day and it’ll take the temperatures down with it. So I have brought the paper in and that may be my only sojourn outside today.

Hang in there, Dot. Sounds like you have two jobs to do these days.

Nut, I’ve lived in states that required an inspection, but nothing as detailed as the MOT seems to do. The state I’m living in now (Alabama) requires no inspection at all. Hope the tyre situation works out ok.

FCM, swampy, I think we all have restaurants like that, someone builds one in what seems to be a good location, for whatever reasons they can’t make a go of it, and somebody else comes along sure that they have a formula that will work. One place near me is on change 4, it’s Mexican now and seems to be doing ok.

flytrap, Italy hasn’t worked quite right for centuries now; I just hope this virus doesn’t get as bad here in the US.

OK, all y’all take care now.

The grocery store is still blown out. But the Pool Possum is back, so I"m set just in case.

Take it easy, Dots.

Our meals continue to be good. No sodium, of course, but still good.

The weather has been, and will continue to be, rain. That just adds to the misery.

Tempers continue to shorten and we’re all snappish. We’re all going to try real hard not to kill each other.

There is a confirmed travel related case of the Virus here in the Upper Keys. I am taking my computer home today and I am staying there for the duration. Don’t even care if I have to use leave. I can’t take any chances. Our vendors are all closed so we are just here. That is it. Just here.

I will work some from home.

Happy weekend all!

My tax preparer just called. They’re asking clients to either drop off their documents during business hours, or to mail them in. So I don’t have to sit in an office next Tuesday, while the tax guy goes through everything.

What does it mean, “Pool Possum”?
We took our tax info to the accountant. I picked up the return yesterday, and I’m just sitting around waiting for the refund.

Restaurants are forbidden to serve inside in Arkansas. Our schools will remain closed until April 17.

Happy Firday!

Beautiful day outside, 73 degrees, looked like it was going to rain for a while, but now the sun is shining brightly.
The windows are open and the curtains are fluttering in the breeze.

Now that spring is here, I went through my winter clothes yesterday and threw out the stuff I don’t want anymore.
Today I’m going to pack away the really heavy stuff and start pulling out some of the lighter stuff.
Although it is supposed to get cooler later this week, but not cold enough for the heavy sweat pants and shirts.

I’m going to make a pork roast for dinner along with the half a cabbage head that’s in the fridge. I don’t know how I’m going to make it as in which seasonings to use.
I was going to irk outside for a bit, but it looked like it would rain, now the sun is shining, but I already made plans to do other stuff around here.

Yes, MetalMouse, I was referring to Monk https://monk.fandom.com/wiki/Mr._Monk_and_the_Candidate

I don’t understand the closings of parks. I can understand cancelling events so people aren’t crowded together. No parks closed here and all the normal walkers, joggers, and dog people are out doing their thing. Keeping their distance, but still doing their thing.

Looks like my son will not be going back to class at all this semester.
Also, there will be no graduation ceremony.

Just got a happy text from a park friend, she found some toilet paper. I was going to take some to her tomorrow.
Whoever knew that the day would come when finding tp would make for a happy text?

I’ve been trying to set up a company with a certain large, multinational credit reporting agency. Said agency is pissing me off.

It’s starting to sprinkle here. I managed to rake the area where the swing set will go, and I clipped back some small saplings that needed to be gone. I also cleared away some garbage that Roxy didn’t need to get into. Then daughter and I unloaded the swingset lumber into the shop. We can work on cutting them to size over the next few days. I wish **FCD **hadn’t given away his chop saw. Oh well…

I made a cover for the sandbox, and while it’s not a great job, it’ll keep cats and water out of the sand. Roxy loves her new slide, and she scares the crap outta me because she stands at the top. The child is fearless. We’re starting a pool for when we make our first ER trip for a broken bone.

Supper will be chickie-n-dumplins.

Supper was yum! The dishwasher is washing, and in a little while, I think I’ll have some strawberries.

Today’s high was 85°. Tomorrow’s will be 53°. Yeah, screwy weather…

Well, (expletive). I’d been feeling minorly ill, but thinking most of it was my allergies acting up (happens this time of year). Symptoms got worse today. Advice nurse informs me symptoms are consistent with coronavirus, DH and I are now required to quarantine for 14 days. At Hades Annex, we’re within 3-4 feet of our neighbors, and two who sit near me are over 60 with chronic health problems. Lovely.
