I thought about this after watching the Truman Show. It may be (as a matter of opinion) a very well made single-unit film (i.e. in no way requiring a sequel) but you are left wondering what happens after… Truman walks through the door out of seahaven
My idea was that a possible sequel might be quite dark…
Truman suffers endless bombardment from press/fans. Is given no peace whatsoever (afterall everyone knows him from childhood)… Eventually starts to wonder if he has not simply walked out of one fake life into another, bigger one… This idea becomes obsession. Truman gets increasingly paranoid and by the end of the film has gone quite insane.
He may even commit suicide… the overall message being that the damage to Truman was already done in the first film… He would have been better off never finding out
I think that’s a sequel I am glad was never made.
I’ve always want to know what sort of woman Scout Finch grew up to be. Don’t you wonder, too? And a dumber note, what about the day after The Day After Tomorrow? What would life be like during that ice age?
And if we include sequels we’re surprised never happened, I fully expected Mindy L. Klasky to write a book called The Glasswrights’ Queen. The series stopped just where it could have explored a different sort of struggle.
I’ve often wondered how Jules is making out, just walking the earth. And if he went to Vincent’s funeral or not.
“2001”. I wonder what the Starchild would do?
I’ve always wondered about how Crash Davis of Bull Durham did as a minor league manager. Did he ever make the majors? Are he and Annie Savoy still together? And what ever happened to Nuke LaRoosh?
You know, Darth Vader is one of the most imposing villains we’ve ever gotten on screen. I kind of wonder what he was like growing up. Maybe they could do something like the original movies, only like a flashback…?
(I want to know if Anton Chigurh ever gets caught for good.)
I’d love to see a sequel to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. He’s now a stockbroker in a large company, making a good living… but realizes that he needs another Day Off. Bring back as much of the original cast as is possible.
Now that might be interesting. Someone should pitch it to Broderick.
So what was Charlie Croker’s great idea?
