Serendipitous Synchronicity on an MP3 Player

This afternoon while walking around our office park, I was (as usual) listening to my MP3 player. I have it set to shuffle everything on it, so a track from the soundtrack of “The Last of the Mohicans” may be followed by Dwight Yoakam’s “Back of My Hand,” which could be followed by The Cult’s “She Sells Sanctuary.”

Anyway, this afternoon a song from The Shadows was followed by “Calling Elvis” by Dire Straits. I didn’t recognize the particular Shadows song (I’d downloaded their “Shadows Are Go!” album a couple weeks ago, but hadn’t listened to the whole thing), but I thought it was kind of neat to hear “Calling Elvis” right after The Shadows song.

Can anyone guess why?
The Shadows recorded songs for, and appeared (as marionettes) in the movie Thunderbirds Are GO, which featured the Thunderbirds created by Gerry Anderson, who directed the music video for Calling Elvis, in which the members of Dire Straits appeared (as marionettes).

Turns out, after checking, that The Shadows song I didn’t recognize was indeed the theme from Thunderbirds. Pretty cool!
Anyone ever else ever have a neat-o connection on their MP3 player while walking around their office park (or not)?

Not long ago I noticed two instances, a day or so apart, of getting two songs in a row with the same title. The first time it was “America” by Robyn Hitchcock followed by Yes’s cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “America”; the next day it was “I’ve Had Enough” by Wings followed by “I’ve Had Enough” by the Who.
