Serendipity

At least they know their stash won’t get raided, Bob. It’s like getting a vegetarian to watch your steak for you.

I was in my hometown when Challenger blew up.

Methodists drink. They just won’t do it in the Parish Hall like we Whiskypalians will.

Know the big difference between Baptists and Whiskypalians?

Whiskypalians speak to each other in the liquor store.

Cider Donut Update:

I got two dozen - six for Bumba, six for scout, six for Lissla, and six for me. That ought to be enough, right? Right?

Wrong. They’ve been on my desk for about an hour, and quite a few have mysteriously disappeared. I need to go buy some more.

Good afternoon. I’m going to play hooky from housework for a couple of hours and go downtown and hang around and stare at people. Then I’ll come home and get everything finished. I promise.

Prayers headed out.

Taters, I have always wondered if OTC cold medications really work, or if they just make you so dopey and weird-feeling that you can’t tell HOW you feel. Hope you get better soon.

Those doughnuts sound yummy-we’ll need critiques from all recipients.

Swampy moving a church’s contents and its congregation sounds like a pretty big job. You’re a brave bear to be involved in the confusion.

I was on my honeymoon in Newport, Oregon when the Challenger blew up. The owners of our hotel came to our door and told us to turn on the TV. It was something.

Cranky, I’m thinking the OTC stuff isn’t working so hot for me. I’m supposed to be working on some spreadsheet and database analyses, but I’m so fuzzy-minded that I can’t concentrate on them.

Do you know how to perform a proper Lutheran baptism?

  1. Fill the font with beer

  2. Take the baby and hold it under.

If it drinks the beer, it’ll grow up to be a good Lutheran. If it drowns, well, it would have been a Baptist anyway.

Lots of prayers for Mr. Tupug & hopes that he will feel all better soon.

I’m cranky now. I feel like eating everything in sight. I just had a bag of Sun Chips & now I want chocolate. And I’m supposed to go out to dinner tonight. And I have stupid code that I’m working on that is taking forever to run. And my cousins’ airplane is showing as delayed, so that’s crankiness. And I’ve developing a sore throat. And I feel bad because I’m being cranky and there are so many more people in the world with bigger problems than me.

And I still want chocolate.

Susan

I bought a pair of goth chick type pants, to replace my beloved worn out last pair of goth chick type pants. They were $35, which is much, much better than the other ones I liked which cost $150. I got them at a store that was mostly pink and had dreadful teen pop music playing. Go figure.

Were there ads on the bottom of the screen before, or are they new? I don’t remember them.

Good thoughts and prayers headed out to the entire Anachi family.

I want a cider doughnut.

Ads are new. There’s a link to the thread announcing them at the top of each forum…

I’ve been cranky all day too, susan. I still have a couple hours’ worth of work to do, but came home so that I could do laundry as well, since my brother is coming to visit tomorrow. Maybe chocolate will help - that’s a good idea. I have some of those waffle sandwich cookies, in chocolate. They’re Italian and yummy.

Gotta go do more laundry. Oh, and put some away. Oh, and plug in the work laptop and stuff. And vacuum. And, well, you get the picture. Why isn’t QuasiDaughter here to help me?

Back later.

GT

You’re not helping! Luckily, I’m at home, and no real chocolate available. Maybe some nice raisins.

I’m extra cranky because I can’t find the spreadsheet that I’ve been using to keep track of my monthly cooking. Darn it all!

Susan

I’ll just pass you some chocolate waffle cookies through the cd tray… All better now?

GT

Would be all better, but I’m cookieless.

You could pack more if you’d send them in a DVD drive… does your computer have one? Whatever you do, don’t send floppy! I don’t have a floppy drive on either of my computers.

Why yes, even though I call it a CD drive, it’s actually a DVD drive… Here, have a whole bag of them!. Or two, even.

GT

Talk about serendipity - I got pulled out of my crankiness when my cousins finally got here tonight. And the serendipitous part of it was that part of the happiness was a good meal together - which was topped off by a chocolate waffle! It was good.

Not cranky anymore,
Susan

Indeed. So why does everyone wear clothes that belong in North Dakota in the winter? The average winter temperature is, what, 8°s cooler than summer? I admit, I did it too when I lived there. It seemed so strange to see people (tourists) sunbathing in December while the locals were wrapped up like Eskimos.
As winter approaches here, I kinda miss San Deigo, but I could never live there again.
Growing up in Seattle, when the sun shines, you’re obligated to go outside and “be” somebody. Living in San Deigo just wore me out.

It’s finally really cool! We slept with the window wide open and a 13C wind on our heads last night. It was beautiful. My preferred sleeping temperature is slightly below freezing. Mr. Lissar likes to be warm. We are in continuous negotiation in winter about whether to open the window or not.

Breakfast. Chocolate for breakfast? Do I have any chocolate? Hmm.

Well, it’s official. I am part of selling a church. The vestry formally voted this morning to accept the Baptist’s offer. As it stands, the closing date is Nov. 4th and we have to be out Nov. 19th.

The Methodists have a lot of space in their place and have offered us the unused second floor of a building on their complex as office and education space. This will be a big help. Of course they are asking that we share utilities and such which is only fair. We will hold our Sunday service at 9:30 AM. Their service is at 11:00 AM. Suits me fine cause I like an earlier service. There will be space for our office stuff plus for the biiiiig conference table so that’s a good thing. The biggest problem we are facing is where to store the organ, piano, and synthesizer thing. Those things will have to be in a climate controlled atmosphere. We will be talking with a local piano and organ company about storing them for us. The Baptists appear willing for us to leave our columbarium until we have a site ready on the new property. We will of course assist them in restoring the land where the columbarium is when they (there’s two of em) are moved.

Thus has gone swampy’s Saturday. I’m waitin’ for ACBG to finish work then we’re going out to dinner. I hope it’s sometime soon cause I be a hungry bear!

Busy day here. We bought some Amish wood - look for my thread on the topic. Then we took apart our gazebo for the couple who bought it, so it’s gone. Then we went to the county fair. We petted sheep and goats and looked at pigs and bunnies and poultry, and we watched the judging of the bulls. We looked at arts and crafts and 4-H projects and all kinds of miscellaneous stuff. We didn’t go to the midway.

Now we’re home vegging. The critters are fed, I’ve got a load of jeans in the wash, and life is good.

Yep, life is good!

What’s a columbarium? It sounds like things are just rolling along for y’all in regards to the church sale, temporary digs, etc.

I’m getting ready to head to the store so I can buy a new set of drinking glasses. I’ve had the last set three years, and we’re down to very few glasses between breakage, chipping, and cracking. I need to pick up some sweat pants and stuff for the daughter too.

I lead such an exciting life. Don’t you all just envy the excitement I have?
