I thought the first few seasons of Billions but just before this last break I thought it went downhill. I watched the first episode after the break but realized I’d lost interest.
I hope 1883 & Yellowstone come back. I’ve really enjoyed those.

Billions was awesome when Damien Lewis was still in it, playing against Paul Giamatti. Lewis was not in the last season (for personal reasons) but is returning for the upcoming (and last) season. So it might be good once again?
Maybe can’t remember them all, so just trying a few.
The Nest. The 2020 British TV mini-series, not the 2020 British movie. Attracted to it due to the main leads. An infertile couple makes a series of ridiculously bad choices. And guess what? Bad stuff happens.
It was okay but a bit of a slog.
WandaVision Liked some of the cast. Liked a bit the early TV sitcom stuff. Then it went completely off the rails. I don’t need to see people flying around throwing fireballs at each other. Complete waste of time.
Speaking of Elizabeth Olsen. Also watched Love & Death. A “true story”. The third time this was done and the 2nd in two years. (Fun fact: Joe Bob Briggs was the co-author of the book these are based on). It had a lot of nice, goofy, strange things. Well paced for the first 4 episodes or so. Each episode had a “phase of events” of sorts. But that was hard to maintain. Also starred two lesser characters from Breaking Bad, so that was cool.
Reasonably worthwhile to watch.
(I also suspect that I might be two degrees of separation from a person portrayed in this.)
Mrs. Davis. Hey, give me something featuring a motorcycle riding nun and I’m in. The first episode was interesting, lots of quirky twists, etc. The 2nd episode had problems. E.g., the nun is supposed to be an expert on foiling rogue magicians (of the Las Vegas kind). But she comes off incredibly gullible. The 3rd episode stunk. (And I started watching part of an episode at a time. The opposite of binging.) The 4th was even worse. The worst example of bad exposition writing I have ever seen. The 5th was better but the 6th broke me. I gave up midway thru it and will probably never resume.
I like Betty Gilpin but she is rarely in anything I’d watch.
Now started watching the 5th season of Unforgotten. Cassie (Nicola Walker) is gone and Sunny is moping. Okay so far. But Time Is An Illusion. Season 4 was well before Covid. Season 5 is well after. But virtually no time elapsed in-show.
Where are you watching the new season of Unforgotten?
Perfectly reasonable as a matter of taste. But, and this is not meant as an attack at all, you probably really shouldn’t bother to watch superhero-themed material if that is the case.
I mean…this is explicitly a Marvel superhero show about a character that has powers that include throwing fireballs (more or less). It was going to get there eventually in some way or fashion. Marvel might occasionally be a tad more subtle and deep than a Transformers movie, but it still inherently built on at least some degree of superhero action.
I heard good things about Wandavision early on, but didn’t hear anyone say explicitly that it was a superhero show. I thought I’d try it out, but then I heard it was a superhero show, and I immediately lost interest. Not my bag.
I just finished this and really enjoyed it. It takes a little getting used to, and I did need to turn on subtitles because some of the accents are hard to follow. The first couple episodes, though funnier, are a little tougher as you need to get used to how crude the show is. But from mid-way on, it is really good as it turns into much more of a detective case, and you’re more used to the various characters.
There are also these “town hall” shorts that recap/discuss each episode with the creators and some of the actors. These are really fun as well.
I’m finally getting around to watching Narcos. About 5 episodes into the first season and I’m hooked. Pedro Pascal is really good in this; much better than more recent stuff I’ve seen him in.
You’re in for a treat, the whole run is really good (don’t forget to watch Narcos Mexico when you’ve finished, which is another good series and more or less runs paralell to the first).
If memory serves, though it was filmed after Narcos, Narcos: Mexico actually takes place before Narcos. There is an event at the end of Narcos: Mexico that kind of explains how the US involvement changes for Narcos.
I just saw that What We Do In the Shadows is back this Thursday. Yay!
And Miracle Workers is back tonight.
Yeah! I’m all set.
We watched season one and two of The White Lotus, very enjoyable. Looking forward to season 3
We just started season 3 of ‘The Great’ , mindless and amusing , and no resemblance to history as far as I know, but fun all the same.
I think you’re right, what threw me was there is a crossover scene with people from the original series and I was thinking that means they overlap.
Just started binging a new season of Lincoln Layer. Liked the previous season, although the two ex-wives thing is unnecessary.
The Lincoln Layer sounds like a different show entirely.
Ha! Not quite what I was thinking. I obviously have a dirty mind.
“Why, Mary Todd - all your clothes seem to have fallen off!”
“Hello, Abe…I sure could use a big strong man to…chop my wood for me…”
