Agreed. I think the problem here specifically is that there’s just a lot of treble in the mix. I’ve taken to turning on subtitles and turning down the volume so it isn’t so jarring.
Count me in as another person you’ve convinced into giving Perry Mason a watch. For me, though, it’s more like a re-watch, since I was able to catch reruns in a UHF station back in the 1970s when I was a teenager. It was hard to tune into that station (it was actually a rebroadcast of a Twin Cities station to “subscribers” in rural Minnesota who otherwise had limited viewing options). Anyway, they were shown late at night, starting at 11:00 PM, and I still had to get up to go to school in the morning. But I genuinely enjoyed every episode that I saw.
Of the few that I’ve seen so far, I consider myself hooked. Now, how many episodes are there? Wow, 271! I know that I can do it, since last year I watched every episode of an another favorite, Mission Impossible, but that was only 171 episodes.
I’m currently watching series 22 of Taskmaster on Hulu. I watched many of the previous series on YouTube as they were released but the commercial interruptions were annoying. This is commercial free and easier to watch.
It’s a fun show. Nothing will ever beat the second season of the NZ version of the show. It’s either that or the Dara O’brain season from UK.
I always forget youtube has ads, I never get them when I watch it. In any case, I noticed the entirety of Taskmaster (And Taskmaster Australia) is now on Hulu.
I posted that mostly to let everyone know that it’s now available on Hulu.
It’s a remarkable show; it’s funny but it’s also fun to watch the creative solutions the contestants come up with. And actually it’s amazing that Alan and his team have created so many challenges over the years.
And I would’ve known that if I had read the entire thing and wasn’t posting half asleep (and still at work).
They need to get New Zealand. My favorite after the UK one.

I gave up trying to understand Netflix’s “Dark” after two episodes but I’m one episode away from the series finale.
Ah, Dark. Creepiest opening sequence ever made.
I literally had to sit down with a pen and paper and take notes to follow that show.
I bailed near the end of it, as it got stupid.

I made liberal use of wikipedia at the start of every season or after I had paused after a several episode binge. It takes convoluted to a whole new level of insanity.
I actually thought it had a decent ending that tied everything up. No small task, that. It did get increasingly crazy until suddenly slowing for the final denouement, but overall I think I like it quite a bit. I think. At least you certainly can’t charge the creators with a lack of ambition 
.
I just watched the first episode of Stewart Fails to Save the Universe and really enjoyed it. I never got into TBBT, watched the first couple of seasons then lost interest. I don’t normally binge watch shows, but this one, I may have no choice.
My Aunt kinda spoiled that for me and I think I would have liked the ending. I think I stopped watching when someone got pregnant. It was just a bit much. I’m glad it found its way home.

At my previous board we had a thread dedicated to Dark discussion and I would have been lost without it. As it was I found myself frequently pausing the show to review in my mind who was who and how they related to each other. I’ll have to find the brilliant post from the old thread which identified the fairly obscure character who was actually, in a raging sea of confusing connections, the most connected character of them all. Still, brilliant mind-fucking television.
Also, thanks for earlier mentions of Deadloch season 2, which is fun stuff.
I’m watching It’s Alan Partridge…How Are You?.
It’s been a bit since I’ve seen Alan Partridge. I think the last I saw of “him”* was his film “Alpha Papa”.
Oh, I hate him…I really do. It’s honestly just part of his character and man, Steve Coogan has nailed this character down so much, it’s clear that hating him is part of it. Always has been.
I enjoy Patridge in small doses. Very small doses. This series is 6 episodes. I will make it through, gripping my hands tightly at times.

I do love the line “after a frank exchange of views and a muttered apology” when he manages to annoy his assistant woman…
I’d recommend This time with Alan Partridge which has had two series, the greatness of Partridge (apart from Peter Baynan’s sick sense of humour in previous series) is about how the straight characters react to him and it works well on a daytime show with a female host alongside him.
Binged all of season 3 of Colin from Accounts yesterday. This was probably the funniest season yet mostly thanks to all of the over-the-top side characters. The relationship arc between the two leads is still as frustrating as ever but what’s comedy without a little heartbreak and tragedy?
