We just finished It’s OK To Not Be OK, which was awesome and had me bawling at the final episode. Need to find my next Korean series to watch now (Not Squid Game, I have negative interest in it)
You make it sound like Mystery Flesh Pit National Park:The Series. Which expectation it just can’t live up to
I had actually never heard of this and had to google “Mystery Flesh Pit National Park”, leading to my discovery of the awesome Snopes write-up on it, below. Thanks for the new knowledge of the day!
That does sound like a great concept for a series! When I saw the big-ass hole in the ground in the trailer though, I was actually fearing echoes of ‘La Brea’
Season 4 is airing now. I waited for season 3 to finish so I could binge-watch it, then never got around to it. I haven’t decided if I care enough to watch 3 and 4.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge was responsible for Season 1, but then left. Season 2 and beyond was less about the tracking-down-the-killer story, and more on the mutual obsession between the 2 protagonists; which, IMHO, totally tanked. We could start a whole thread on series that went down the dumper when their creator left (Killing Eve, West Wing, Community…)
I thought I might revisit Longmire and find I’m liking it somewhat better than the first time around. The guy playing Henry Standing Bear is still all wrong for the part, and Vic is not nearly in everyone’s face enough, but it’s not bad.
If you enjoy Longmire, try the books written by Craig Johnson.
The TV series and the books only barely resemble one another but the books have lots more of what is to like in the Longmire series. Vic virtually carries the books, in the series she is basically only cleavage.
I read all of the Longmire books, hence my comments about Vic and Henry. In the books, Henry is about 6’4" with long black hair and a muscular physique. In the series, he’s. . .well. . . Lou Diamond Phillips, who, while a decent actor, is the opposite of Henry. And I agree about Vic.
Just watched the first two episodes (they are coming out on a weekly basis) of Slow Horses, an espionage thriller/workplace drama. Slow Horses (Slough House) is where disgraced MI5 agents get sent in order to live out their lives or rehabilitate their reputation.
Great casting with Gary Oldman and Kirstin Scott-Thomas and other fantastic actors. Very atmospheric and so far, a joy to watch.
I just started Harry Wild starring Jane Seymour and don’t know if I will go back. She’s just abrasive but perhaps she softens during the season. The young fellow they have as her sidekick is pretty good and charismatic.
My husband and I loved Longmire. I hated the ending. I just couldn’t see Walt and Vic together. To me, he seemed more like a father figure to her. Blech
Over the past couple of months I’ve watched all six seasons of Longmire. While it was generally entertaining, by the end I had had enough of the Vic character.
I guess it was balanced out somewhat by making Matthias more sympathetic along the way.
The scenery was awesome but those three cops covered sixty miles from one place to another in record time.
Vic in the books is not the simpering creature portrayed in the series. She’s tough, opinionated, and not to be trifled with. The relationship works much better with the written word.
I just watched this. If I’ve learned one lesson over and over again from true crime shows, books, and podcasts, it’s that Yorkshire police are the worst.
Just finished the last episode of The Dropout on Hulu. Very well done and apparently stuck very close to the actual story. Makes you wonder how many people there are like that, scamming billions from unsuspecting people.
