Series you've recently watched, are now watching or have given up on

We’re caught up on Slow Horses, and we finished Severance. I’m looking around for something else to watch. Hubby is interested in Raised by Wolves. He’s hooked by the Ridley Scott/Alien feel. This is the part that repels me. Fortunately I have many, many books on my iPad.

A friend recommended 9-1-1. She told me that starting with the third season, it gets “entertainingly ridiculous.” I haven’t got that far yet, but I haven’t been bored by what I’ve seen so far.

It’s basically disaster porn.

That’s fair.

Two episodes in on Tehran on Apple TV. It’s a spy thriller about an undercover Mossad agent on her first mission in Iran. So far it’s a real edge of the seat thriller. Even though it’s an Israeli production, it looks like they are at least trying to avoid making the lead antagonist a cartoonish villain. He’s not necessarily a nice guy but they take time to explore his personal life. Two episodes in, I know more about him than the heroine.

This show is brilliant. I was searching for a thread on it and found this post.

::sigh:: Sorry, Naomi, but you’re off my watch list. You were a nifty CW superhero show that started with an amazing premise, and some good writing, but I no longer care at Episode 4. You turned into a teen drama instead. I do, however, greatly respect that you didn’t hide your powers from your parents, and you respected them. It was refreshing.

We’ve started watching Season 2 of Young Wallander. We’re enjoying it. They’ve made absolutely no attempt to match timelines, and the actors have a widely different array of accents. Despite that, it’s fun.

Going to commit eight hours to a USA production on Netflix called The Sinner. Starring Bill Pullman, this 2017 police procedural starts with Jessica Biel (Flashdance) committing a murder and the first season deals with her trial.

There were subsequent seasons. Each featured a new story that unfolded over the course of the season.

Wrong Jennifer, it was Beals in Flashdance.

Lol, dammit.

As I was warned, “Killing Eve” took a nosedive in season three. I don’t think we’re going to finish it. The acting is still stellar, but the plot, if there even is one at this point, is a mess.

I managed to get through all four seasons of The Sinner, despite it being really quite nonsensical at times. There’s something compelling in watching Bill Pullman’s amazingly awkward main character, who people inexplicably open up to. Just watching for his next inappropriate smirk is hypnotic.

That does explain my ‘wow, she looks good’ reaction.

Jennifer Beals still looks amazing.

April 18, three days from now, begins the sixth and final season, and Jesse and Walt will be back too!

We liked this. I think the last season was the hardest to watch.

Yeah, someone else pointed that out to me. That’s twice I’ve been fooled by their teasers.

Finishing up Season 1 and I might shelve this for now, watch Yellowstone which Cathy has been pushing on me for weeks.

The Sinner was fine, but I’m really tired of the endless string of sexually-traumatized women who form the backbone of so, so, many plots in these shows. By the time Biels was effectively making out with her sister, I was almost bored with the inevitability of the scene.
