Nobody is asking anyone to drop friendships; far from it! Most of my boyfriend’s friends are women, and pretty much all of my friends are guys. We don’t sleep with them; they’re just friends.
There’s an element to this that I’m having a hard time explaining. It’s like when you were in high school going out with some guy, but there was this other guy you really liked too. Just take that to the adult level. It’s not friendship I’m talking about; it’s either 1) you lust after someone just because you’re horny and don’t want a relationship with them or 2) you fall in love with someone else, but for honor or religion or whatever, you refuse to give into your feeling and stay with your current SO despite the fact that you are in love with this friend of yours… friendship beyond friendship.
Screwing for the fun of it seems to be the lesser of two evils, provided of course that all measures of protection are taken.
