That was really the thing, Sara - you could tell she didn’t like herself. There were issues behind her sexually predatory behavior that I just didn’t want to touch, literally or figuratively.
One thing I’ve noticed in this thread that’s been passed by - the age difference. I’m 32 and she’s 21, so it was never gonna happen (Sara, luv, you are the obvious exception. ;)). The last time I dated/fooled around with/slept with someone that age was six years ago. Am I the weird one, to be so adamant about this personal rule?
I don’t think yer weird, and I’m 25. It’s all about what you’re comfortable with. If her being that much younger makes you uncomfortable, then that’s important. If the rule makes sense to YOU, that’s all that matters, IMO.

seriously, although I understand the ‘translation’ listed above, the only thing you did ‘wrong’ was the first statement, which should have been more of:
“I’m not really ‘looking’ for anything casual at present” and leave it at that.
That way, some one who had, up til that moment had been ‘just another face’ at the table should get the message that you weren’t intereseted in a one night stand w/ some one that you didn’t know. But it would have left things open had you found some one that you had hit it off with, say a 46 year old poster.
