My favorite Shakespearean play is Hamlet.
I also think it’s the latter, though the former seems a valid reading of vagueness.
The tiebreaker favors me, and Bicycle Bill, and Biotop, and probably Demontree and Lizzy (DizzyMrsLizzy). Since we’ve been given permission, I wonder if there’s a way to use that to town’s advantage.
What do you think I am doing? I have no posting restriction, was my post too short? Too cryptic, maybe? For your information, as it seems you have not been here since I joined this board: this is the first time I play this game, I am not sure about some rules, I will not ask for clarifications yet because I believe this could show too much to be to my in my favour, and English is not my mother tongue.
Apart from that, my favourite Shakespeare play is Macbeth, but I confess I do not know them all. Your favourite play, for instance, I know mainly from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comic, which may come back to bite me later. I guess a deeper knowledge of Shakespeare would be advantageous.
I take it you’re claiming to be town. I am not a villian either.
So, was this post more to your liking, AotN? Or have I said too much this time?
ETA: You write we “have been given permission”. I am not sure, I think what we have got is a hint.
Rereading the rules and I see we are using the L-word here. That is not a complaint, I don’t want to start an argument, I just want to avoid confusing everyone. We had stopped using it elsewhere, hence my post explaining LTL.
I don’t think it’s that straightforward. I understood it to mean our Character names.
@Pardel-Lux your post wasn’t “not to my liking,” it seemed like you were speaking in verse. We occasionally have posting restrictions like that; I wanted to clarify if you did or not, I’m glad you don’t because that can be difficult for a player.
Thank you for letting us know English isn’t your first language; you write it very well, but that’s good to keep in mind.
I think that if there is an advantage to knowing Shakespeare here (I’m a native English speaker but I don’t know them all either) it would be in picking up on breadcrumbs. (Breadcrumbs are hints people leave to support claims they make later.)
Yes, I’m claiming Town.
And I see your point about permission vs. hint.
I guess we’ll have to see. Ties are often part of the end of day here.
I think you’re right; I read the rules last night when I was falling asleep and am in the middle of rereading them now.
Does anyone understand what this is meant to imply?
Nope. It looks like something that will eventually come to pass and then will seem obvious.
I think it doesn’t even necessarily require an active attempt at manipulation. If the Town isn’t pretty specific about what they’re intending with each vote, things can get really confusing even before you account for players with hidden agendas trying to make it worse.
It’s a suburb/bedroom community in Dane County just outside Madison. I’m living with my fiancée/soon-to-be wife in a similar community north of Madison.
Whereabouts in WI is your daughter?

Never played before so please indulge me if I ask what seem to be stupid questions.
Does this mean that Minor Characters are automatically not Villains, and are more an example of Innocent Bystanders … and if they are offed by either side it’s a case of "Oops! Sorry about that… " and gets chalked up as collateral damage?
Or are some Minor Characters in cahoots with the Villains – henchmen or minions, as it were?

She’s in the central part of Madison. She’s coming to Mexico on Wednesday to visit, though, and when she’s done with her trip she’s moving back to NJ or Pittsburgh (where she went to school). She went out there to stay with her best friend from high school for a change of scenery but they just had a big blowup fight.
Yes, as the rules are written, “Minor Characters” are what is usually known as Vanilla Town, meaning Town who have no abilities other than their vote.
Yes, Minor Characters are usually called Vanilla Town, and are not Scum (Villains). HOWEVER, there are games where the Scum can recruit to their ranks. This is fairly rare, but it happens.
I don’t think we could have recruitment in this game- maybe as a one shot, but not as a general mechanic. What do you think? Given that Chronos stated he was running the game with 13 players or 16, but not 14 or 15, the numbers seem important.
This is an important enough question to ask directly:
O! @Chronos, great and mighty! Wilt thou confirm, deny, or hold thy tongue on the possibility of recruitment in the present venture?
Ordinarily I wouldn’t answer a question about the game setup like that… but I think that recruitment mechanics, with very few exceptions, are poor game design, and that even speculation about them can distort a game, so I’ll come out and say directly: There is no recruitment in this game.
I think I have an idea, but I may be overthinking it.
Hey, no harm telling us what your idea is. I have no idea, but am willing to hear yours.
