I had an idea about what might have been happening first thing this morning but my car jumped on me and knocked the wind out of me so I lost it. I have a longer Uber ride ahead of me,
will try to remember.
In other news, my friend Wayne (he played on Giraffe as Eddie but he only played I think 2 games there with us) is running a “Tri-State Traitors” game on YouTube. I’ve applied to be on it but he already told me he wants me there so chances are good I’ll be accepted. The game will run Thanksgiving weekend (I’m coming home for the holidays) and will be aired on YouTube shortly after. It’s taking place in Lancaster, PA; if anyone else is interested in applying I’ll send you his contact info.
Any time I deeply analyse anyone’s motivations, I remind myself, “Or they got lucky. Or they had no idea what they were doing. Or they just acted impulsively.”
People have asked why I play if I feel so much is luck. It’s fun. And fun to talk to others and try to suss out who is who. I don’t ever know anything much, but it is fun and sometimes, I get a role where I do have some knowledge and that’s fun, too.
It’s gotta be Thing.Fish today, though. We very well maybe wrong, but Thingy has to got to get killed/yeeted to find out.
The plain text of the PM Angel purports to have received, coupled with Thing Fish denying the result, makes this a fairly straightforward vote. I am trying to imagine a confluence of circumstances whereby Angel is both telling the truth and incorrect, and all the ones I can think of verge on bastard mod territory in a way that seems unlikely (especially with Chronos as a mod).
I am, however, entirely unconvinced on the second half of Angel’s deduction - I see no actual reason to believe that Mahaloth is a redirector, let alone a Villainous one who for some reason redirected a name investigator onto his own teammate.
I think the most likely candidate for redirector is much simpler and less useful to us from an information standpoint - I think it was probably the late Pardel-Lux. The one confirmed power we’ve seen (Banquo’s ability to communicate post-mortem) is closely tied to the color, and I’m guessing all of the other powers are as well. Given that, who better to be a redirector than Robin Goodfellow/Puck, whose Shakespearean job is literally redirecting love for an entire play?
@Mahaloth, in the previous day’s thread, Pardel-Lux was suspicious of you because you asked him to share his idea about what Chronos being mysterious about the rules of the game meant, which he did in the post linked below, but you never commented on his reply.
Can you explain why you didn’t reply to this post?
First of all now that I’m back to my laptop, I have to apologize DemonTree, who I associate with Death. So if I say it again, acknowledge that that’s now stuck in my head and I may remember your name wrong when I’m on my phone trying to keep up with a million thoughts :P. Sorry. It’s out of love my friend.
I also have to apologize for calling you out above. You are participating and throwing out ideas. That’s all I was asking for. I mis-spoke!
You voted me for voting you. Usually retailiation votes aren’t very town minded, when they don’t have substance behind them. You only voted for me, and didn’t give us any meat as to what you thought about the LH vs Mahaloth showdown.
Today, you aren’t really sharing many thoughts with us either. Town has no information. We can’t make a determination about you unless you share your feelings. I get you are new, but a lot of stuff went down today. Surely you have an opinion aside from just a vote?
Do you believe Angel of the North’s Claim?
What do you think happened, when she targeted Mahaloth, and got a result on Thing?
Do you believe Thing’s claim that he’s not who Angel says he is?
If think is lying he’s likely scum…
If Angel is wrong, either Angel made up a result and failed…or she was given bad info…or maybe some mechanism changed the info.
What do you think happened?
I’m going to leave a vote here to push you to give us some insight into what you are thinking!
Well, we’ve got about 20 hours left until the deadline. The absence of anything resembling a meaningful defense from Thing Fish (a vanilla claim and no vote so far) makes me think that the situation is more or less as it appears - Thing Fish is Angelo, and a Villain, and Angel was fortuitously redirected onto him.
I think (assuming the flip confirms this) the next step will be to look carefully at the Day One voting patterns with all of the information we now have, and see if anything interesting emerges.
I also think that even if Angel is telling the absolute truth about her results, we cannot fully clear her of Villainy… but it will go a long way in that direction.
I mean, I’m kinda 50-50 on the question, but I have no doubt that we have to act on what has been put before us. I don’t think there’s anything Thing.Fish could say that would change that, and I’m sure they’re resigned to their fate in that way. If it turns out AotN is lying, they’re next in line - and if they’re telling the truth (the whole truth), I bet the villains will get her before we can, tonight.
If Thing.Fish is scum, and AotN survives the night, it could be because the villains (or, by that time, perhaps villain, singular) are trying to eliminate some other major character, and think they have a better chance if they keep AotN around. If AotN is the sole remaining villain, team Town might need to take a random potshot or two to figure that out conclusively.
Who has not revealed their character name yet? This could get important in the endgame.
Having some not-revealed names could serve as a check on a possible-scum AotN (no offense to the latter - suspicion is part of the game), assuming they survive the night.
You’re overthinking it, @Dizzymrslizzy. Yes, I could have joined the dogpile on @LH75 , but I chose to cast a vote against you as you had no other votes against you. Even if two or three other people had also voted against you, the eight votes against @LH75 would have still rendered you safe for the first go-around. It was the equivalent of casting a vote for the Pail and Shovel Party in a Presidential election.
As for not getting into the Conversation of the Day, I’ve noted that several of the participants have played against each other in other venues and threads, and like professional Texas Hold 'Em players, they know one another’s quirks and 'tell’s. In comparison to that I am, to stay with the poker-game analogy, the player who barely knows the rules of the game and couldn’t pick up on a ‘tell’ unless it was posted on a four-foot square signboard surrounded by flashing lights.
The other thing is that I am currently spending some very serious, very personal time with my fiancée. For the last week or so I have had far more compelling things on my mind than trying to puzzle my way through this.
That’s all fair, and let me be clear. I could care less about the vote on me yesterday. I’m just explaining how it looked.
Let’s put it this way.
One off voting hurts you if you are town. As town especially vanilla town the only power you truly have is your vote. It’s powerful. I can motivate others if your reasonings are good to vote with you, or it could be the nail in someone’s coffin.
By one off voting you are giving away your power. We can’t look back at a close vote and see which side you were on. Did you vote for the scum or the townie?
It’s “too safe”. The kind of safeness a scum
Would look for because it doesn’t mean anything.
That’s why it’s important to be bold with your decisions.
I personally didn’t vote LH or Mahaloth because I felt strongly that neither was scum. That was my statement and I gave a few reasons why yesterday.
It’s okay to be wrong. We are all wrong and as town we are wrong more than right…. Only scum know the answers here.
