So my band is playing this weekend and next at New World Brewery in Ybor. We play this Saturday the 20th at about 10pm and next Friday the 26th at the same time. To the best of my knowledge both shows are $4. It should be a lot of fun plus New World has some great beer.
Last month Broccoli! showed up and we had a great time. More dopers = more fun right?
But HEY! If airfare stays this low (it’s $110 round-trip to Tampa from Baltimore right now!) you might get lucky. But I’d probably come for a Dopefest, so I could meet some other folks too.
Please don’t ever put “shameless plug” and “Tampa” together like that. There are some sick minds that accidentally read “Tampax” and thought this was an entirely different sort of thread.
Because my girlfriend plays piano at the new club in Channelside, Howl at the Moon. They play requests, old and new rock, etc. etc.
It is the hot, happening place right now, and it would be a LOT of fun to go for a Dopefest. Friday night would be very good, so that Cyndar can attend.
Howl opens at 7 on Friday, and all of the tables are usually filled by 7:30. By 9PM, it is wall to wall, standing room only, with a half hour (or so) wait. It stays that busy until 2:30AM or so.
If you let ME order the drinks, they give me the employee rate, i.e. $2-3 instead of $5-6…
Katie~ This Friday, if possible, or we can make it next week if you like. Let me know.
I won’t be around this weekend at all, so I’ll definitely miss Pezpunk’s band this Saturday. But he’s got another gig next Friday. Mr. Killdare and I will probably catch that one.
If the birthday dinner for my FIL (in Plant City) wraps up early this Saturday, I might be able to get down to Ybor for the show. Anyone else going to be there this weekend?
An added note (since these were the directions I got the last time and thought I knew where I was going, but got lost, thanksalot, pez:)), that this is all the way down 8th. Like, in the section they don’t bother to light! If you park near where you come off of I-4, keep walking down through Ybor and it will be on your left.
And, pez, you know I’d be there if I didn’t live 1200 miles away.
