Vegas! A long weekend at the end of July with about a dozen of my best girlfriends from all over North America. We’re going to pile into a couple of suites and spend four days drinking, gossiping, lounging by the pool, and generally pretending to be filthy rich.

I’ve got tickets for Moscow in early September. I have eight days, so I’d also like to get up to St. Petersburg for two or three. I still have to go through the visa process (get an invitation, voucher, then apply for visa) which will be about $250 altogether . Hopefully it will be worth the trouble. I bought the tickets because I found them for under $500, which is incredibly cheap (from NYC). I expect to be lost in a sea of Cyrillic when I get there, so I’ll probably end up in some random parts of town. I’m going to buy a GPS data logger for this trip so I can track all of my wanderings when I get home.

Boulder and Seattle for 3 weeks this summer. Hang out and sample the American family life in Boulder. Seattle because my wife has never been. See how the bambinas do this year with the flights and jet lag. I hoping the twins will be easier this year now that they are 4.5 years old (certainly much easier than when they were 1.5 years old).

Well I’ll be damned. Doug Henning died several years ago. Hmmm… maybe David Copperfield.

I love hearing about other people’s vacations. My boyfriend’s best friend got an awesome present from his girlfriend for his 30th - a trip to see the Northern Lights, complete with sled and huskies.

Hope everyone posts pictures later on.

We were planning to go to Springfield, IL on Monday, but Mr. K is sick and doesn’t feel like he’ll be sufficiently recovered to do it. :frowning: He’s worse on the relapse than he was for the previous 10 days. I’m starting to worry.

No, visiting a doctor is not on his “to do” list. Yes, I’m annoyed. A 102 fever since yesterday is probably not a good sign.

In June we had a wonderful stay in St. Kitts and Nevis. Lots of diving, fishing and golf.

In August we’ll be at the Colorado cabin way up in the Sangre de Cristos and then down at the ranch.

Back to Colorado again in the Fall for hunting season.

Sante Fe, New Mexico in December.

I’m planning a trip to London in August. I haven’t bought tickets yet or anything but there’s no reason why I shouldn’t go. I actually have money saved *and *time off.

Also a friend is getting married in San Francisco in September so I definitely want to spend a few days there.

I’m excited; I’ve never been to either place before. Actually I’ve traveled pathetically little in the past, these are pretty much my first vacation plans as an adult (I’m 24).

Oh, that’s a shame. We have a great little city here. If you decide to re-schedule, e-mail me at heyhomie7@hotmail.com if you want some tips on places to eat or things to do outside the Lincoln attractions (which is why you’re coming, I assume).

Wow - I must see if I can extend my stay in Vegas! ;)

I’ve got none. I have no money for any exciting holidays any time soon. Maybe a trip down the country to Galway or something like that for a night or two.

Thanks! We will reschedule, though I think probably in September, as there’s a Route 66 car thing happening at that time, and Mr. K was born with a carburetor in his butt. I’ll drop you a line when we know more.

Mr. Neville and I are going to China to see the solar eclipse in July. We’re also going on a tour of Beijing, Xian (including the Terracotta Warriors), Suzhou, and Shanghai. We were thrilled to find a tour that would be able to accommodate our dietary needs (kosher, will eat vegetarian food or kosher fish in a non-kosher restaurant), since I think we’d have a hard time doing that on our own in China.

We went to Seattle in May, which was a great trip to a city that neither of us had been to before and we got to visit a couple friends while there. We went to a Korean restaurant while we were there, Haze, and I thought of you. (One of my friends is Korean American so she took us and recommended what we should order.)

In Sept, we’re going to fly to Denver, spend a day there, take a train through the Rockies (supposed to be a beautiful trip) to Salt Lake City, spend a day there, fly to Las Vegas, and spend 3 days there. I’ve been to Vegas, but neither of the other cities (not counting airports), and my husband hasn’t been to any of them. Should be lots of fun.

King Bobo, some friends went to Newfoundland last summer and had a great time. I may have to add it to the “places to visit someday” list.

Route 66 Mother Road Festival

That’s it! Have you seen it before? Is it worth the 4+ hour drive?

I’ll buy you a beer in a couple of weeks, Thief. I owe you one or three for making me talk to people and deciding to go to Ireland.

San Diego, CA.

Yeah, not much. But it is my first vacation in years.

My vacations plans are chronicled here: ATL to KC trip suggestions - In My Humble Opinion - Straight Dope Message Board

I’m leaving tomorrow morning (Wednesday, June 24th) from Atlanta. I’m going to spend the next twelve days in

Along the way my wife and I are planning to take our picture next to any cheesy roadside attraction we come across.

Late 2009: Quit job to travel the world backpacker style for 6-10 months depending on when I decide to leave.

Come back to attend graduate school.

Excited, but also terrified.
