Seattle in August. No big deal about the destination-- I lived there for 20+ years and have been back several times – but this time I’m taking the train. Three days and nights on the California Zephyr, across the midwest from Iowa to Sacramento and then north to Seattle.

Oh, and this Sunday Union Pacific is treating us to a short ride (about 30 miles) in a “vintage” car as part of their Operation Lifesaver program. I’m looking forward to that too.

In July, we see Spamalot in LA and the next weekend, it’s Santa Barbara for the French Festival and then right to San Luis Obispo with extended family gathering to go to Pismo Beach that week.

My partner and I are leaving this Friday for 3 weeks in France. We’ll be going to:

Lyon
Toulouse
Carcassonne
Nimes
Arles
Avignon
Aix-en-Provence
Marseille
Nice
Monaco
Paris.

We’ll be in Paris in time for Bastille Day.

Tomorrow my wife and I go to Kenya for a week then to Istanbul for a week.

Honeymoon in Scotland and Ireland next month.

A week from Friday we get up early and hit the road. A friend’s* place in Pittsburgh for the weekend of the 4th, then out to Peru, IN to visit some other friends, then out to my brother’s place in Maple Grove, MN for a few days. Then we make the long trek back home (with maybe a stopover back in Peru, depending on timing). All in all, 12 days on the road. Can’t fricking wait.

*Actually, a on-line friend of my wife’s whom we’ve never met in person, but who she’s become close with nonetheless.

Hey, try to get a dopefest going in the Twin Cities. We have a pretty good contingent here, usually there are quite a few willing to meet up. If I am not in Ireland at the time, I’ll go.

I had considered setting up something, but I have no idea what kind of scheduling we’ll have going on while we’re there. As it stands, we’re going to be trying to cram a lot into only a couple of days (and I just found out this evening that we’re apparently being taken to the rodeo).

However, I do know that we’re going to be making a trip to the Mall of America (The Littlest Briston’s brain is going to explode when she sees Nickelodeon Universe). If nothing else, then maybe a few folks would be available for lunch while we’re there. I’ll have web access at each stop, so I’ll keep updates coming. Hopefully something will work out.

My SO is turning 40 this year and we usually go on a short vacation up to the North Shore of Lake Superior for his birthday. This year we cashed in our frequent flier miles and got a flight for 9 days in Europe (yes, we actually are only paying airport taxes of $60 for non-stop round trip). We’re flying into Amsterdam and then renting a car to go to Germany, Luxembourg, France, and Belgium. And we’re leaving the kids at home too and not staying with anyone else so it will be some great alone time together.

Peru, Indiana? I’ve been there! Make sure to pick up an “It’s Mister Wienie Time” t-shirt. (I got two and they’re great souvenirs).

Three weeks in France. We leave next Thursday out of Newark airport. Nice then Provence then the Loire Valley then Paris. I’ve been looking forward to this vacation for months and months and months.

I’m going to enjoy my new house and backyard and the beach this summer. In August I’m going to celebrate my daughters first birthday with my family and friends in Toronto and plan to be there for most of the month. In September I’m going to Switzerland for a conference and make it a mini vacation with a stop in Germany as well.

Just got back from a week-long all-family cruise on the Carnival Victory out of San Juan in celebration of my father’s 70th birthday. We went to St. Thomas, Dominica, St. Lucia, Barbados, Antigua, and St. Kitts. A fabulous time was had by all.

I’m going to the Outer Banks, NC, for a four-day weekend for Independence Day and then to Montana for four days in August to be a bridesmaid in a wedding, but that’s it for the foreseeable future. I just bought a house and it’s sucking away all my travellin’ cash.

Cruise to England, Ireland, Scotland and a day in France on the Crown Princess. We board July 19th but get into London two days before. Can’t wait.

Spent the last two weeks of May in Taiwan.
August 7th weekend in LA to meet up with the wife and kids as they return from Taiwan and then all fly back home together to Houston.
August 22nd - flying my mom down for a Carribean cruise (for her 60th B-day which was actually a couple days ago). Originally scheduled for first week in December but needed to be moved on account that we’ll be welcoming our third child at th end of December.
The next trip will be a while, probably next summer to head up north to Southern Ontario to see the family (trying to get the in-laws from Taiwan to fly over for the same trip).

We will be taking our first-ever family vacation in mid-September. Nothing special - borrowing the in-laws’ van and pop-up for a week of camping, but it will be a first for the four of us.

Then in 2011, my husband and I will take a cruise to celebrate our 10th anniversary and my graduation from college. I can’t wait!

Screw it! I’m going!

I’ll be on Martha’s Vineyard in just over a month.

Some things in life are just wrong.

Kicking puppies.

Wearing plaid with stripes.

Me not going to MV.

And the kicking puppies thing is negotiable.

I’m going to England (again) in the fall, on a tour of northern Wales, the Lakes, and the Yorkshire Dales. Best of all, at long last, I will be going to Castle Howard, a stately home I have long loved and never actually been to before. The last time I was up in Yorkshire, it wasn’t open.

I had hoped that my husband and I would be able to spend a couple of weeks cruising the Chesapeake Bay. That ain’t gonna happen. So next week, I’m staying home to play in my studio, hoping to have a kiln-load of pottery ready to fire before the week is done.

Maybe next year we’ll have a real vacation…
