We don’t really know each other but I do enjoy reading your posts. What I would like to point out is that SDMB is a community and in every community you have all aspect of characters.
The internet is different because if something bothers you, you just don’t log on … but does that really solve the problem.
I hesitate to suggest, but I do so anyway - that the best solution is to stay here and be heard on what is wrong and get the opinion across.
The greatest problem in any society or community is that people don’t always fight for what they believe in.
If Straight Dope is to survive eternally then I say stay and fight.
One of the greatest parts of a movie was in The American President when Michael Douglas and Michael J Fox were discussing something similar and the point that was made was:
You don’t fight the fights you can win, you fight the fights that are worth fighting!
And on that note I think I am going to go upstairs and watch it.

I hope you hurry back. Take a breath, but don’t be gone very long. This is a community with differences but the passion between us is what makes it an important place to hang around.
I hope we don’t loose the people that care enough to be upset when things get tough. That shows how much they care for this place, but we need y’all to stay.

I had to defend myself just today from an idiot troll hunter.

There really ought to be a way to require troll theories to go only to the mods and never into the threads, where the
“lynch mobs”, as you put it, can run around without real information.

You deserve some time away from the board anyway after the wonderful “People Pages” you did! (I love them, BTW!)

I myself have been absent from the board for months. Partially because of the new obsession, and partially because of events similar to this. I know that I’ve spoken some harsh words to you in the past, and I wanted to take this opportunity, to let you know that just because I dis-agreed with you, does nothing to lower my opinion of you. You’re a smart, witty, warm, caring person. I hope the break you’ll take will help you sort things out, and maybe be able to take a step back and re-group. Although I don’t read or post more, I know you’ll be missed. I miss you’re playing on the game, and I’m sure the dopers will miss you as much, if not more.
