Shodan: Saviour of the Pit!!

It’s the dreaded /facepalm.

More than that, it’s geek god Patrick Stewart doing the facepalm. I see it on Fark all the time.

Ahhh, I see.

He’s got kind of an Incan skull thing going on there, eh?

I see a Lewinsky style 1990’s knob job. But I’m not a healthy person.

…l…

never mind

You know, it’s not like there aren’t many posters whose every utterance on the board isn’t a slap in the face to various other subsets of the membership, or occasionally all of them at once. For my convenience, Shodan should be singled out by the authorities whenever one of her/his posts proves to be factual and cogent and pertinent to the thread in which it was posted, because otherwise it’s more efficient just to assume it’s more of the same, but that’s too much to expect of a simple message board and I know it.

That said: oh, please. I could as easily be as rude (and mean anything by it) by not offering a “regards” or “best wishes” or “at your service, always” in any message, or by substituting some other *prima facie *-ly innocuous phrase which I could interpret (for my good friends) however I wished, and what’s the difference? Those who feel constrained to say the polite words and perform the courteous acts are, regardless of their state of mind, behaving properly, and I would not choose their freedom to misbehave, or my right to express myself, over common civility in a time of crisis. But I do assert my right to interpret others’ posts, and there’s not enough controversy here for a warm-weather snowball fight.
