I just started dating this guy who is definitely attracted to me, but can NOT seem to get over the fact I have short hair. He says he does not know what to grab on to when we kiss… he keeps telling me I’m the only short haired girl he’s ever dated, and when he saw a picture of me with long hair he said how great I looked and asked when I would grow it out again… besides this issue, all is very good with us. Am I being overly sensitive or do guys really FREAK when it comes to short haired women??

This is definitely an IMHO because there’s no general rule on mens’ preference that can lead to a straight answer. IMNSHO, short hair is dead sexy.
Some guys have definite preferences, and your friend is entitled to be more attracted to long hair. Only you can decide if this guy is worth changing your image to fit his preference.
Well, then I don’t see any problem. But some guys just love long hair. I like it, but I wouldn’t know… I’v never kissed a girl with either, so I just think it’s a matter of personal preference.

If he wants to run his fingers through your hair, or cradle your head in his hands or something . . . what difference does the length of your hair make?
I have baby fine brown hair without a hint of curl, and I am certifiably retarded when it comes to hair styling. For these reasons, I have always worn my hair short. The only guy who ever complained about it was the six year old I nannied for, who told me quite frankly that he thought girls should have long hair. I respect a guy’s right to have personal preferences, but my feeling on the issue is, if a guy doesn’t want to date a woman with short hair, what the heck is he doing with me?

I myself like long hair, like down to the woman’s hips. But I also know some women with short hair that look better that way.

For me, short hair=sexy. Though there’s nothing wrong with long, either. But I’m usually more attracted to short-hiared girls. Don’t know why, but there it is.
Has something to do with the fact that I find the nape of the neck very sexy, but that’s not all of it.

I look like Cousin It with long hair. Short is the only way it works on me. I’ve never had a guy ask me to grow my hair out. My current BF saw me with it long and agrees it looks better short.
I have to admit that I have a long-hair fetish, myself. However, I’ve dated shorthairs without desiring them to have long hair, because it looks good short on them. If one has a fetish that is that strong, one should admit it and not date shorthairs, sparing everyone a lot of eye-rolling. You have an oddball, m’dear.

IMHO I tend to prefer short hair, but again it also depends on the woman.
The woman should style her hair in whatever way makes her feel the best. The man should be able to make “suggestions” on what he thinks looks attractive but bottom line its her decision. Only change yourself for yourself, don’t change for somebody elses needs.
I like long hair, but sometimes short hair looks damn good. Yersinia Pestis looks fabulous with her short hair, but short hair only looks good on -some- women, not others. But when it looks good- whooo!
Tell your boyfriend that he should let his hair grow long (unless it is long, then tell him he should cut it short) see how he likes to be nagged about it (best done in a joking way).

I used to have hair down to the middle of my back, and I hated it, but I was terrified of looking like a man if I cut it off. And I always hated my hair - thick, straight, brown. Boring. It was always a weird combination of flat and frizzy. I absolutely detested it, and toward the end I just always wore a ponytail.
I cut it all off this past June and it was the best thing I ever did. You can see my face! I spend a lot more time styling it, but whatever it decides to do, it looks fabulous. It’s shiny (finally! I spent a ton of money trying to get it shiny before!), sexy, soft, has lots of body, and is thankfully frizz-free.
It’s not mannish at all, either. In the front it’s about ear-length, so I can tuck it behind my ears or pin it back. The back is layered so that it lays nicely and has a shape, but it’s only about an inch long on my neck.
I get hit on a lot more with short hair. Most guys tell me they love it. Easy access to the neck and ears, and it really fits my face much better than long hair ever did. You can click on the link in my profile to see it and lemme know what you think.

My (at the time g/f) once cut her hair, to what I would call very short. As in shorter than mine (and I had a nice conservative short hair cut…) her’s was so short it wouldn’t stick out between my fingers when I ran my fingers up the back of her head.
she looked good that way… but it caused one problem… from behind she looked just like a friend of mine, a male friend… dead ringer.
so one really weird thing was waking up after a party, looking at the back of the head of the person in bed with me, thinking it was my friend, and freaking out a little bit… “What the hell are you doing here? WITH ME???” the answer “we’re dating dumbass, go back to sleep” the voice let me know it was her, but still scary as hell…
thinking: “did I get that drunk at a party that this happened, NO, couldn’t have… he’s straight too… WTF???” oh it’s my g/f… ok, this has to change… "
so we talked about it… I told her that she looked like Tim from behind and that was weird as hell for me… she was pissed for a while… but got over it and now has a beautiful head of long hair and a very nice ring. 
(note: we also have something of a deal, I keep my hair short, she keeps her’s long… works great… I look professional, and she doesn’t look like Tim.)
It’s your hair, right? It’s the same hair you had when you started dating the guy? I don’t get it. If you’d had long hair when you started dating him and then cut it, I could understand his reaction – a lot of us guys have a hard time adapting to changes like that, even if it turns out we like them.
For me, the style I like is the style I see first. If you have short hair, then I’ll like you with short hair. If it’s long, then I’ll prefer it that way. Some men have preferences for long or short; I’m just happy when there’s a woman there, and if she has hair it’s a plus.
I add to the recommendation that he should grab your ass when you kiss. You can be sure he doesn’t want any hair on that.
