So I met a girl, through work. We don’t actually work together. She’s a rep from another company. We had to work together for a week on a special project.
The project been finished now for a couple of weeks but we’ve stayed in touch via text msgs. (We like to trade jokes.) During this time we’ve been toying with the idea of going out together. It should be known that she just got out of a serious relationship two months ago.
Anyway, here’s my problem. I know this sounds stalkerish but I looked up her myspace page. I was browsing through her photos. I couldn’t help but notice the several pictures of what was obviously her ex. The thing is, her ex could pass as my twin brother!! Seriously.
So my problem is two fold.
!.) It’s been two months. Why is the ex still on her myspace?
2.) The dude is my freaking twin. I can’t help but to think she’s only interested because I remind her of him.
I say don’t date her. I poster here was in the exact same situation - down to one of them looking like the twin of the ex of the other- and It didn’t work out. However, my main reason for saying no is that she just ended a relationship 2 months ago, in my personal experience and in seeing how my friend’s relationships worked out it is a good bet that these things won’t work out because of that.
Another vote for asking her out. If it works, it works. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t, but even if it doesn’t work, that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. Just take it one date at a time.
My inclination is to ask her about it, up front. If there’s a problem, then she should be seeing it coming, too, and if there’s not, you’ll figure that out more easily together than separately.
Then again, I might not be the best person to get romantic advice from, as I don’t know the second thing about women.
Yeah, this is a good point. My current boyfriend has a lot in common with one of my exes. It isn’t because I am pining for the ex, but that those traits are things I’m normally attracted to…so it kind of makes sense that two guys I like would be similar in those respects.
