Should I see "Rocky V"? (spoilers)

The first one is one of my favorite movies.

The second and third were OK – they had a few good moments, but they seemed mostly phoned in.

I liked the fourth one a lot – not as much as the first, but in a different way, more of an action film than a drama. Also, with the international angle, and with Apollo’s death, Rocky was fighting for more than just a trophy.

I haven’t seen Rocky V, but I’ve heard the basic story line (so you don’t need to worry about spoiling it, for me).

It sounds depressing, which is one thing I never got from the first four. I’m not someone who insists that every plot be sunny and happy. But I wonder if the whole appeal of Rocky is the determined optimism that sounds lacking from the fifth one.

I’d like to hear from people (who like the series) on whether they liked Rocky V.

I liked Rocky V, and would recommend it if you liked the other four.

But it needs to end there. I just hope that the rumors I keep hearing about a Rocky VI never happen.

Rocky V was one of those “better than I thought it would be” movies.

I don’t have any interest in boxing; I hadn’t (and still haven’t) seen any of the other Rockys; but I got dragged to the theater with some friends and wound up actually liking it.

So yes, you should see it.

By the way, I seem to recall hearing that (spoiler for those who haven’t seen Rocky V: )as the movie was originally written, Stallone intended to have Rocky die at the end of this movie, but this was changed because the studio wanted a more upbeat ending.
