Does anyone believe LK is not a troll after this little performance?
We can dance if we want to!
Who will take out the garbage?
Childcare is pretty key. How many men would not be able to go into work if all teachers and childcare providers took the day off work? How many infants would die from a day of not being cared for by their moms?
Kind of a non-sequitur, but I infer your comment was meant to insult Patx. Because she likes men.
How egalitarian of you.
Careful… (we’re not supposed to notice that.)
Are you sure? I thought it was a day without Men at Work - I was going to run and take cover.
Evidence of the lameness of the moderators here.
I don’t visit the pit, normally.
I don’t suppose anybody defends The Donald?
Echo much in here?
Anyone remember what the policy is about where you can complain about the mods?
I thought it might have been a reference to the Raven Paradox:
A) Proposal: All interesting threads are locked.
B) One way to find this out is to find all unlocked threads: if any of them are interesting, then A) has been falsified. If none of them are interesting, then we have proven A) through the process of elimination.
C) This thread is uninteresting: this is evidence of B).
I hope the HELL you’re joking !!
According to the BLS, 63,943,000 million men work 35 hours a week or more, compared to 46,597,000 women. Which would mean - if my math is right, which is always open to question - a man is almost 40% more likely to have to work full time than a woman.
What’s a “whoosh”?
Arrgh. I was ready for this passive aggressive bullshit thread last night, and it launches at 9am Monday morning. Figures.
Me?
I wonder who wrote it?
Well, yeah, you would say that, what with you being a disingenuous moron. It’s totally the kind of thing you would say.
But mostly, I just want you to go. You said you were going to go your own way and stop caring about what women want. So why are you still here, whining endlessly about women? Go, already. Nobody’s stopping you from leaving. Nobody’s going to miss you when you’re gone. So stop blithering and go your own way.
If Patx will take you, she’s more than welcome to you. Take your own way and go.
I imagine the people who have control over the board.
- A lot of women provide unpaid or off-the-books childcare. This is not a job that can wait for a day. If this childcare is not provided for a day, fatalities result.
- A lot of kids in these situations have backup measures consisting solely of other women. If all women took the day off, there’d be no backup measures.
- A lot of men aren’t normally part of the backup measures for childcare, but would suddenly have to be if women took the day off. A lot of men therefore would also “take the day off” from their normal job, in order to do the childcare jobs taken care of by women.
At my school, there are maybe eight or nine men working, out of a staff of around 40. None of us work in the cafeteria, or in the preschool class, or in fourth or fifth grade. If the women at my school took the day off, each of us would be responsible for roughly 60-70 kids, including kids we didn’t know well, including kids with serious health needs. We wouldn’t be able to feed them.
And my school has got way more dudes working here than a lot of schools, where there may be only two or three dudes.
If you think that women taking the day off en masse wouldn’t result in catastrophe, you’re an idiot. Which, y’know, okay.
