Should we have a QueerDope?

I suggest we have a QueerDope.

I would like to propose here in Montreal, the Queer capital of Canada, possibly circa August 4. I expect to be back from Spain by then, and Aug 4 is the Pride Parade at the end of our huge and fabulous pride week, Divers-Cité.

The week has tons and tons of fabulous ticketed and free events and is by far one of the largest pride festivals in the world. (1 200 000 participants in 2001, including 750 000 at the parade!) Montreal is also an extremely gay positive city, with the largest village in North America and swarms of sexy boiz & grrls.

Wouldn’t that be fun? I need help with the planning, tho. What kind of events should we do? Should there be any X-rated ones?

More on Queer tourism in Montreal can be found here: Tourisme Montréal (don’t you love it? Does the city of San Francisco even run a gay tourism website?)

Yes.

Why don’t you schedule it for Sydney in 2003 - we do a pretty good Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

WE don’t need to - begging for attention is SO provincial…

No, not provincial, municipal. Didn’t you follow the link?

Ummm, no.

you have your fun, I’ll have mine (snow-free, thank you very much)

“If you’re going to San Francisco…”, you’re betta off than the fools going to friggin’ Canada!

Carry on

I’m picturing Happyheathen showing up at the Vancouver border crossing in mid-August. Skis on the roof racks. Sweating in a parka. The customs officials are pointing and laughing.

Bewildered, he blurts, “But they said it was going to be 30 degrees!”

a) you should be so lucky

b) I no longer ski - remember, ‘snow-free’

c) re. (b) - eat your heart out
[sub]Well, they’re out there having sun, in the warm California sun…[/sub]

[sub]exactly HOW MANY songs are there about Montreal?[/sub]

Well hell, I’d show up.

That what, you’d stay on that side of the Rockies? Yes, I should.

“Just like Frère André, I know my heart will always stay here in Montreal…”

ONE??!!!

One single, miserable song?

yes, I will be east of the Rockies again, but ONLY during May-Sept.
and don’t you get tired of always having to convert dollars and temperatures into REAL numbers?

That was the first one I thought of that was in English.

Don’t you threaten ME.

I LIKE having water freeze at 0 and boil at 100. It beats that tennis game you call Fahrenheit.

Aw, is that nasty Fahrenheit scale too complicated? Pobrecito…

I will now excuse myself to allow this thread to die a natural death.

¡Dios mío, por fin!

Now if happyheathen’s done drawing attention to him- or herself, can we get back to the question at hand, please?

I’d love to meet you all, but I think I’m at Hippie School then. Or I’ll be living at home again.

Heh.

I’d love to go, but I’d still be a minor in August.

You sure? Legal age for drinking in Quebec is 18.

Perhaps, but I won’t be 18 until October.
