Show me your booty!

Erm… A gift certificate from Amazon. And one from Borders, but I used that to get a gift for someone else.
Sheesh. Now I feel lame.

I got a crystal vase and two giant diamonds, well, they’re crystal paperweights, but they’re shaped like diamonds. I also got a gift card for Barnes and Noble, and money from my in-laws. They’re in their 70s, so can’t really get out easily.
My SDMB Secret Santa sent me a wolf looking thingy, with arms and legs dangling from strings. It looks like it’s been drawn and quartered. I don’t know what it’s for. It is however, the THOUGHT that counts. right?
The kitten is really for both of us. I seem to be playing with him a lot more than Hubby. (he just untied my shoe…again.)
My best gift isn’t here yet. My son’s widow is coming for a visit. It will be so good to see her!

I got lots of money from my parents.

But I have to use every red cent of it to pay the dentist. :frowning:

Oh well, one step closer to being debt-free. This money ($300) will pay half of my remaining dental bill.

I’m also getting some video games - I know there are five of them, and they’ve been mailed, but they haven’t arrived yet!

I bought my wife an ice cream machine. Yeah, there’s an ulterior motive. Sue me.

And she got me a beautiful, professional picture of herself. Stunning. Can’t wait to see it framed. Also, the Rush 30 DVD, kick-ass.

We celebrate Sinterklaas in this country, the tradition upon which Santa Claus is based. Our date is actually December 5, so we both got loads of prezzies back then as well. But seeing as we’re in a mixed marriage (as in, two nationalities - in this instance, anyway ;)), we figured we could celebrate both!

Funny, we re-gifted our ice cream machine. We had it a year and used it once. It was very easy to use and made good ice cream quickly, but I’m just turning into a lazy slug, and even that was too much work!

I gots a digital camera*. Woo! I also got a wireless router so now I can have my laptop online and keep it on the couch so I don’t have to sit in uncomfy chair just to talk to people. A few DVDs (Scrubs season 2! Yay!), a couple of books, and a USB drive.
*The camera is an Olympus, and alas, uses xd memory cards, and didn’t even come with one. Yeah, not even the obligitory 8MB card thatholds five ppictures (though there is an internal memory that holds 11, apparantly.) I got an xd card yesterday, but apparantly my card reader, which I thought read all types, reads all types EXCEPT xd. Now I have to install the (always) horrible bloatware that came with the camerra to get the pictures off of it until I get a new card reader. But I’m still happy I have it, so much nicer than my old one.

Well, hell – I’ll pony up here!

Let’s see, I got:

  • $80 in gift certificates to Best Buy (which contributed largely to the new head unit I bought for my car)
  • a lovely and warm new robe
  • DVDs of Airplane! and Clone Wars
  • the new Need For Speed for the PS2
  • a metal detector (I intend to cause much havok with this)
  • a new CD holder
  • bowling-themed plates and dishes
  • a nice new shirt and tie
  • some neat little picture frames
  • my mom’s homemade mac 'n cheese

AND

…completely independently of one another, two different friends of mine decided that what I needed was this. I have no explanation for how one person, let alone TWO, could associate that with me, but they got a great deal of joy in watching me open one, then the other. But rest assured that I’ll be using them and providing them with the results.

OK, I tried to post this right about the time the boards went down. Maybe it was my fault…

The mac daddy gift was a really cool ladder. I guess I have a thing about ladders, I have several. Anyway, I can’t wait for my next home repair/renovation project so I can use this: https://www.ladders.com/index.asp

Another cool gift was a spare battery for my DeWalt tools: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002AJKOA/ref=nosim/103-7747139-2048649?n=228013

Also got some barbeque sauce, a tie with the Looney Tunes characters on it (I don’t wear ties on a regular basis, so I’ll be looking for an opportunity to show it off), a couple of Best Buy gift certs, and a landscape design book, which I fell asleep to after overeating Christmas dinner, while visions of patio bricks danced in my head.

It was a good year.

From my husband: A sweater and tank to go underneath, a black skirt, sparkly kitten heels, a scarf, and floor mats for my car.
From my mom: “America the Book,” a pair of really cute lounge pants and fuzzy slippers to match, a rolling pin cover for making lefse and cloth to roll lefse out on (actually, those last two things were from “Santa.”)
From Charles & Camilla (dad & step-mom): An electric knife sharpener (both both my husband and I).
From my grandma: A $25 bookstore gift card and a box of chocolate covered cherries.
From my sister: A sweater and some good-smelling stuff.
Oh yes, and I was also the proud recipient of the Christmas underpants this year, a Christmas Eve tradition at my grandmother’s house. Christmas booty, indeed!
I have another Christmas with my in-laws tomorrow night.

Made out like a bandit, this year! Got a Behringer Fender-style guitar & amp from the Missus for Crimbo, and for my birthday (today) – a Nintendo DS. Do I have the best wife or what?

She got a sterling silver bracelet from Tiffany’s from me, but it’s a little tight on her wrist … so I up-sold her to a different style!

This made me giggle as if I were back in second grade.

I got:
A “Little Big Town” cd (great country music group!)
Three shirts (I’m a shirt freak. YAY!)
An Angel Food Cake Pan (don’t understand why since I’ve never expressed a desire to make angel food cake, but still… it was a nice gift. Top of the line pan and all)
A gift card from Wally*World
Socks (I asked for 'em and got all kinds of dress socks. I cleaned out my sock drawer to make room, even!)
Homemade fried apple pies from my Mom (I am in a fried apple pie eating frenzy!)
An insulated wine bag with my initials on it (You never know when you’ll need to bring a cold bottle of wine or champagne along, after all) Plus it had two wine glasses!

Being with my family. The bestest of all gifts IMHO.

My siblings and I don’t exchange gifts, nor do my husband and I. So:

My parents: CSI Season 5, one of those nylon travel pillows, and a carousel thing that holds plastic containers.

From my MIL: The latest Betty Crocker cookbook; a faux fur throw blanket (it’s like spreading a cat over you; I love it); a misting fountain, and a whole lot of junk in my stocking that mostly went into the trash.

From my SIL: Alias Season 4 and a candle and candle warmer. My husband got Ninja Gaiden Black.

From my FIL (his wife, really): Bath stuff and a pizza oven for both of us. The pizza oven went straight back to WalMart.

My big present from Zyada was a while ago - a truck so I can actually get around! Granted, it’s an old one, but still…

On Christmas (the eve and the day), I got a few books, mostly from my Amazon list, a Bob Newhart CD (His old stand-up is great!), some T-shirts, and some miscellaneous small stuff. I think my favourite shirt was one with a “Chick Magnet” picture on the front, chosen by an eight- or nine-year-old girl I’ve only met a couple of times. She said specifically “This shirt is for Bob!” while the family was out shopping. I just can’t help having that effect on women!

Didn’t mean to make it sound like my Christmas was all that bad in my earlier post, just commenting on some of my experiences Christmas day.

Anyways, I did get a beautiful, stag handle, Boker Whittling Knife (2nd knife from the top). I also got a Kroger and a Shell gift card (Nothing says Merry Christmas like food and gas!).

The whittling knife is definitely cool, something I really wanted, since I am taking up whittling/carving. I just need to get a hold of some basswood stock and get an edge on my knife (Which is proving more difficult than I thought.). I can’t keep a consistent angle on the blade when I sharpen it, so it’s not nearly sharp enough- You need a near razors edge for effective carving.

I got:

T-shirts (DEVO, Camp Crystal Lake, and a general horror-themed shirt with “Watch Horror Films - Keep America Strong!” across the back); a Ramones box-set called “Weird Tales of the Ramones”; “Down By Law”, one of my favourite films; a DEVO sticker for my new car to match the shirt; CD’s (The Epoxies, stellastar* and the White Stripes); a cool little wooden purse; a huge box full of wonderful crafty supplies, like yarn, knitting needles, calligraphy pens and ink, oil pastels and paper; another huge box of cool stuff from my dad including hot sauce, dried chili peppers, Edgefield wine from Oregon, and some cute baby pictures of me he found when helping my grandpa move; a cute, clay “3-legged luck pig”; a 1st edition copy of “Desperation” by Stephen King…

And the show-stopper: the picture of my second-cousin-twice-removed-or-whatever Bing Crosby, autographed to my grandma (his 2nd cousin): “To cousin Coralie, all my best: Bing, 1935”. My mom has been looking for this picture for me ever since I found out we are related to the Crosby family, and she just finally found it this year. Coolest thing ever. Luckily my husband is a picture framer so we can get it framed up right and preserve it forever!

Holy shit! Are you William, or Harry?

I got this.

And a hat and gloves and scarf. And a Christmas ornament. That’s it.

Are the holidays OVER YET???

Must be the drug addict/skinhead one… ain’t it sad when royalty strays to the dark side?

I would have loved an iPod, but I’m quite happy with my loot:
cash, nightgown, candy, cookies, olives stuffed with blue cheese, electronic handheld Hangman and 20Q, Choxie, Johnny Cash’s American Recordings on CD, Serenity on DVD, monogrammed notecards, Starbucks Christmas blend coffee, a gift card for Olive Garden, an insulated travel tumbler, perfumed shower gel, stroopwaffels, Honeybaked ham.
