Whoa, me too. I thought I was the only weirdo! We are sisters!
I also got:
A box of 12 HUGE candles, with a tray and decorative stones
2 small fountains
a 3-set of pink purses with gold embroidery
a candy dish (don’t ask)
the cutest pair of pink socks
a pink bath set, with oils, gels, and salts in it, all in a pink carrying caddy
A hair turban for when I get out of the shower
2 DVDs
A pretty silver decorative Christmas tree, about 1 foot high
I got a bunch of kitchen stufff… New canisters for my countertop, a shiny new spice rack, a couple new Gerber knives and a Mario Batali cookbook. Also got a shiny new digital camera along with a heap of guilt from my mother about getting her more pics of her grandchildren, some poker money, and my son got a new puppy but I am currently taking care of Bullwinkle J Moose (yes, that’s what he named him) til he and his sister get back from their father’s.
Ha! Mika, you’re right, we really are sisters - and I like pink, too.
After reading your post, I went directly to Target (still have some money on the gift card) to see if I could find one of those hair turbans, because I’m always using up regular towels every time my hair gets wet. My husband complains because I use two towels per shower - one for my hair and one to dry off. If I had one of those turbans, though…
I got candles and cute socks, too. I get gifts from two families these days, and both are very generous. And my husband’s family is loaded, so cripes. I got lots of bath sets, too. One a delicious vanilla set, one a nice hazelnut set, and one from my mom called “Winter Frost”, that smells like those Hillshire Farms soft vanilla dessert mints, with the nonpariels on the bottom. I smell delicious.
Hmm lets see I got a bottle of Goldsclager, a purse, some painting supplies, Adobe Photoshop, a couple of DVD’s, the best fuzzy socks EVER, a really cool necklace, a framed family photo from my brother’s wedding, really beautiful watch, red duct tape and lots of random stocking stuffer type things.
Oh yea and about 10 pounds.
I got a bunch of books, two gift cards to Indigo (a bookstore chain up here in the Great Frozen North)–which I used today to buy a wall calendar and the complete Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy incorrectly-named trilogy–one gift card to the Gap, the newest U2 CD, a really nice turquoise fringed sweater with white undershirt and a stone necklace, a couple of posters, $100 from my grandmother, chocolate, and lots of love.
Life is good, my friends.
Oh, and snogs devilsknew
I’ve gotten better. My whole room was pink as a child.
I use two towels, too. This is getting weird. The hair turban is really great, it’s small, and hooks on the back of the door, and there’s a little button on the back and a hook in the front that loops over the button.
Hard to remember everything, but here’s what I can name:
A new dishwasher (technically, haven’t ordered it yet, but I have the cash from my parents) The Complete Far Side, which is awesome and weighs a ton
A book of Muppet-related quotes and thoughts
Best Buy gift card
Two Cirque du Soleil DVDs
A sort of throw/blanket dealie
A candle
A hurricane lamp
Two Christmas ornaments
A bit of cash
And assorted sundries, such as chocolates.
Leather jacket, but that came a month ago, two books on gay people and the bible, a bigger SD card for my camera, three sweaters, a shirt, some hideous tennis shoes (oh, God, hideous), some white sheets for the wrong size bed, a wonderful messenger bag, a copy of Brokeback Mountain, 3 different kinds of lip balm, yarn and knitting needles, socks, gloves, a gyroscope, a toothbrush, candles and a candle warmer, and something that is “on its way,” and being shipped to my school address (My guess is a subscription to the Advocate, since I asked for one.)
I got the first season of the Muppet Show, Muppets from Space, and some Kermit knee socks. I’m wrapped in glee.
I also got a Gray’s Anatomy and a medical dictionary. And a small FM radio, some chocolate, a Terry Pratchett children’s book, some new sheets…
And I bought my mom a Rammstein CD, which she actually likes. Which is more fun, in some ways, than my own presents. Though believe me, I’m enjoying the Muppets, Season One.
I just love the nickname, mostly because I came up with it myself and think I’m clever, which doesn’t happen very often, and can’t resist sharing it with others.
Anastasaeon, feel free to incorporate the Christmas underpants into your family traditions if you like. It really is fun, if everyone is a good sport about it. The best part is that since I got them this year, I get to pick out a recipient and buy a pair next year. Good times!
Well, I got a new car. But I don’t think that counts because I bought it.
As for gifts, I got a lot of books, the second season of Arrested Development, a Borders gift certificate I’ll use to buy more books, a bottle of wine, some candy, and, of course, a bottle of salad dressing.
I got my scooter stolen.
The gift that keeps on giving as it was my only mode of transportation.
So I had to buy a second-hand one the day after, so my christmas pretty much sucked donkey balls.
I got a Tiffanys bracelet from Crusoe. I’m a very lucky girl.
I also got the iDog I wanted from my common-law MIL and step-FIL, and a new robe from my common-law FIL and step-MIL. My grandparents gave me their traditional envelope full of money - I’m never entirely sure whether they’re giving me a present or taking out a hit.
My mum, gawd bless her, in addition to the GHD straightening irons (which are fabulous), gave me the most extraordinary pair of boots. I can only assume she thinks I’m going to be performing in panto and will have to supply my own costume.
I forgot. Last night we had Christmas at the in-laws’.
My husband and I got joint gifts from his parents: A birdfeeder and birdseed to put in it, a dessert fondue pot, some candleholders from IKEA, and a yummy-smelling candle.
Just for me from the in-laws: Yankee Candle brand potpourri and bath gel (didn’t know they made that!).
From my sister-in-law: A sweater.
It was a good Christmas all around. I’m dying to try that fondue pot!
Just the usual affair, really. Electronic stuff (new solder equipment, multimeter, etc), hideous clothes (I love hideous clothes), a turquoise cowboy/porkpie hat, a formal cowboy shirt (red silk, baby!), close to 10 CDs, a ukulele, and a chair. Maybe some more stuff, I don’t know, but that covers the basics.
The best present, by far, was from my best friend, simply because she is my best friend. She made some rather tasty candies/cookies and also gave me an elf hat, to add to my collection.
My neice, whom I adore, decided that I needed to be hip. I am not hip. I have never been hip. I’ve never wanted to be hip, but try telling that to a 15 year old.
She gave me this sparkly purse (or a close approximation) in bronze. Which I oooooo’d and ahhhhh’d over (like a good aunt) but now it resides in my bottom drawer, abandoned and ashamed. DeHusband said I should use it as a swim cap. Did I mention it was in bronze? Maybe if I was 40 years younger and about 400 lbs thinner I would like this purse. But I doubt it.
