They are pretty much the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. Ok, not really, but they are pretty cool. They are Versace, dark brown on the front, tan on the sides, with little diamonds in the lil’ Versace logo. I get about a million compliments a day when I wear them .
After years of having the gigantic plastic frames as a kid, I swore that I’d never go back to them some time in high school. Whenever it’s time for new ones, they always try to sell me on the thick plastic retro ones that are so popular now.
Thank you, thank you! You’re too kind! I love them because they allow me to be a totally lazy ass and not wear makeup. My vision is over all pretty good, but my eyes are a different strength, so if I don’t wear glasses, I end up with headaches (only sometimes).
So, you can pretty much guarantee that if I’m wearing my glasses it is for one of two reasons:
1: I was too lazy to put on makeup that morning
or
2: I want to look more grown up
These are my glasses. I have worn this exact style and shading for over 10 years. I pretty much see the world through rose colored glasses. If I ever had to see how the world looks in the harsh reality of natural lenses, I might break down and cry.
C’est moi. I love my glasses. They’re lined with lavender plastic, which helps soften the blackness of the frames. They’re also my first pair of glasses sized for a grown-up and not a child. They are my version of big-girl panties.
Ah, I’ve got a little head and face. My hair’s the only thing that saves me from looking like my head is oddly small. Really, until last spring I wore little kids’ glasses because they fit my head better than adult glasses, and I was afraid bigger glasses would emphasize the littleness of my head. Then I went into the optometrist’s and tried on pretty much every pair of glasses until I found a pair that I liked. They happened to be these, and I couldn’t be happier with my big ol’ glasses.
I’ve been wearing reading glasses for about 10 years, this is my third pair.
A note about the photo. My employer (a large telecom with an ampersand in its name) decided people needing new badges should submit their own pictures. I challenged some co-workers to see what they could get away with. Then we found out the picture had to be approved twice. Once by your manager and once by someone in the badging office. Darn. My first attempt, with a Clouseau-esque paper mustache was rejected, but this one wasn’t. So this is the picture on my official employee ID.
After a photo shoot with my oldest daughter, me with glasses with middle child.
She enjoyed herself way too much and I think I ended up with a lot of pictures. She ‘needs’ practice. Yeeaah…
Here are my old ones. My current ones are also black, but a square frame. I’d take a photo of them but I’ve left my cord at work. I will try to remember to upload one on Monday.
Yes! I have found I only need to moisturise and (sometimes) put lipstick on if I feel so inclined, when I wear my specs… When I wear contacts though, that’s another kettle of fish.
Because I wear contacts only for special occasions, when I do wear them, my face feels very open and vulnerable, and I’m more likely to pile make up on, to compensate for what I call “the unacustomed expanse of face” - which is what I’m not used to seeing in the mirror.
