My first attempt at real woodworking. I’ve done a lot of carpentry, including some pretty complicated finishing stuff, but this CD case was my first venture into cabinet making.
I’m so happy I started this thread. Everyone has such beautiful stuff!
Thank you all!
And keep them coming!
Since this thread has moved from latest project to any project, I will dig up some pics of some tables I have made. Projects I am a bit more proud of
I’ve begun colorizing. It will be finished next Monday. The glare on the canvas made it very hard to photograph… and it is making weird horizontal lines. Try to ignore those…
If we’re talking about other projects, I had fun last fall making Photograms which I thought came out pretty cool… (laying objects directly on photo paper and shining a light on it, then developing the print.)
And some warped self portraits that I painted (reflections in curved objects)
And two more paintings: first still life, second still life–here is a kind of neat flash movie of the second one
(I don’t have many “interesting” paintings yet–I only started painting last year)
Oo! Does that piece inside pull out and down to cover the CDs?
Here are some of my older projects.
A hall table that I made from walnut
The master bath cherry vanity
(this shot was taken during the installation as the drain wasn’t connected yet)
and a cherry stool
FordPrefect, you do nice work. Isn’t wood wonderful? I cringe when I see designers painting good wood, on doors and moldings (mouldings?).
Not made by me (of course), but I bought this library table at an estate auction. The finish was very dark, almost black, and you couldn’t see the grain of the wood.
As my husband and I were loading it in the pickup, we talked about refinishing it. The antique dealer who had been bidding against us said “You’re not going to refinish that, are you? It’s worth more like it is.”
Well, yeah, but you can’t see the wood grain.
We’re cretins, I guess, and maybe refinishing isn’t much better than painting, but the table turned out really nice. I love wood.
Thanks AuntiePam. I agree about not hiding good wood.
I’ll have to take another picture of the vanity one of these days, the cherry has aged really well over the last year and a half since that picture was taken.
If you bought the table as a collector’s item, you probably made a mistake. If you bought it to have a beautiful piece of wood in your home, then you did the right thing.
Finally finished that painting Finally done
I also finally scanned in some more of my negatives:
Afternoon reading
Candlelight
Wow, I love that!
Yes. Click on the word “first” in my post or [here](http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/timstaab/detail?.dir=a2f9&.dnm=6286re2.jpg&. src=ph) to see it with the door closed.
Cool! I thought the front cover was solid but a clear panel makes more sense! :smack: Is it glass or plexi?
That’s an awesome shot of OpalCub reading. I hope you’re submitting it somewhere.
It’s glass.
That is nice. I also like the counter behind too… You have a nice looking kitchen.
Thanks gigi and Kal.
