I think sigs can be amusing in limited quantities, or as a link to a pic or whatever but they should also be used sparingly.
Dang. And I just got me a new sig too. Oh well.
So, all those ‘sig test’ threads here in ATMB must be, like, twice as meaningless to you then, eh Fenris?
That seems so wrong, somehow.
Hey Fenris Now that you are Sig free’d…
Where’s Roy?
Ducks and runs like all hell.
I’m thinking we should all add Fenris’s name somewhere in our sig.
This sig not visible by Fenris.
Actually, credit for this option should be given to the VBulletin folks. It is a standard item on this version of VB.
But you can thank the admins for not removing it!
I have “Show other users signatures” set to “yes”, but I almost never read sigs. Is it really that hard to skip over sigs when reading posts?
The compliant, Yookeroo, is that it ties up bandwidth to transmit something that you’re not going to read or use anyway.
It’s not a mater of “not that hard” as much as “why waste the microscopic percentage of a calorie it would take to scroll past sigs, which I universally find to be annoying.”.
Besides, I like reading threads as though they were debates. Imagine if, while watching a debate on television, there was a short, unrelated commercial after each person made their point. It disrupts the flow of the thread.
I’ve NEVER understood the point of a sig. If it’s important and relevant to the thread/post put it in the post. If it’s not relevant to the thread, why is it there?
Granted, a lot of people disagree with me, but that’s why I think the SDMB did such a cool thing by allowing this feature to stay enabled when they’ve (by necessity) turned off so many others. Those that enjoy having and reading sigs have that ability, and those of us who don’t, don’t see 'em. No one loses.
