My sig line is from the movie “Spinal Tap”. One of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. This movie is filled with quotable sayings.
It’s such a fine line between stupid and clever.

I guess my sig is a bit longer than average, but when I read the quotes that are paraphrased in my sig, I found it really deep and meaningful. I could shorten it to just the last line, but without the Sherlock Holmes reference, it kind of loses its meaning.
So until I find something significantly better, it stays. But I’ll only use it once per thread, and on subsequent messages, use only my name.

“Sherlock Holmes once said that once you have eliminated the
impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be
the answer. I, however, do not like to eliminate the impossible.
The impossible often has a kind of integrity to it that the merely improbable lacks.”

Does anyone know where my sig is quoted from?
“So what you are telling me, Percy, is that something you have never seen is slightly less blue than something else that you have never seen.”
Might as well…

Lets see if my sig line works…
I’ve just added my old AOL sig to my profile. As kids, me and my siblings operated a short-lived lemonade stand, and we happened to live near a small patch of undeveloped woodland. There were always garter snakes slithering into our backyard, so we would catch them and try to sell them along with the lemonade! I think we made one, maybe two sales…
Lemonade 10 cents
Snakes 50 cents
Let’s try this again, using one complete brain cell.

I don’t use mine very often but it’s from one of the few Charles Dickens books I read and actually enjoyed (he can be so LONG-WINDED!!) and it just touched me as very poignent. It’s said when the lead character loses her brother.
And can it be that in a world so full and busy, the loss
of one weak creature makes a void in any heart, so
wide and deep that nothing but the width and depth
of vast eternity can fill it up!

I used to work as a security guard for one of the most humorless and Draconian companies in Southern California. One of the pettiest people I’ve ever met was a particularly petty field inspector who ragged me a great deal. A lot like Frank Burns of MAS*H. But I got him to laugh when, just before he left, I told him my signature line:

What the hell!? I was under the impression that HTML didn’t work in our sig lines.
If it does, my helpful-and-informative sig line will be replaced by my cryptic-and-confusing ASCII representations of the characters in my name.
Excuse me, I’m of to my test thread…
PS Cow God, I watched you build that thing in a test thread back in my lurker days. I don’t blame you for using it whenever you can.

I like 'em all. Keep them, please! The little story of snakes & lemonade is a delightful bit of Americana. The Dirk Gently quote, though long, is worth it. All the one-liners are good; some are excellent.
