Signs of Spring

Speaking of, where IS da man? (I mean the Rue one, not the Cecil one) He’s been pretty sparse around here.

WHERE ARE YOU RUE?

Well, I really hope you get to feeling back to 100% very soon. I’m going to give my back a chance to improve over the weekend; if it is still FU-BARRED on Monday I will call the doc. I have a big tasker to complete and now some requirements (after having run numerous queries and stuff) have changed completely which means I start over in some aspects. Aggggh.

I thought there were only two cities in Wyoming; Cheyenne and Jackson and the rest of Wyoming was antelope, sheep, and fences.

Well, I need to go back to my STOOOOOOOOPIT tasker. I really wanted to take today off 'cause my lil sis is in town, but I just KNEW something would happen with this tasker. I’m all psychic (is that spelled right?) that way.

Puggy, Wiley shame on you two!

Yup, Lissla, we had to try the rose petal jam right away, I’m amazed I didn’t mention it. It tastes just like you’d think rose petal jam would taste. I’m not sure it’s something I wanna have on my morning toast however, but it satisfied my ‘try sumpin new every day’ requirement. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my stomach. (a much softer organ than my heart.) I knew the Kinder Surprise chocolate wasn’t the best from reading other threads, but the toys are so surreal that they’re my favorites anyway. I’ve got the other two here at the shop wityh me and they might not last until #3GD shows up tomorrow. I wanna know what’s in 'em now!.

You musta had your door closed a lot lately.

Every time I do a preview somebody else has posted an’ I hafta read that before I can submit. Sheesh.

I hate tax day.

Since I’ve got the inside scoop, I’ll share - he mentioned to me that The Little Woman would be taking off work yesterday and today. No doubt, she’s got a substantial Honey-Do list to keep him occupied. OK, maybe I’m projecting, since I always keep a substantial Honey-Do list for my Honey. Anyway, I can assure you he’s not been abducted by aliens, but he’s having quality family time. Ignoring us. How dare he??? The poopyhead… :stuck_out_tongue:

My Significant Bother… err, Other… has left the building. For the whole weekend. He’s going with his pals to goggle at airplanes in some museum a coupla states away. He very nicely pulled up the last of the crappy carpeting before he left, and also mowed the lawn and helped carry the remaining furniture out to the garage, so he went with my blessing (and my radar detector.)

I will now commence to sanding every bit of woodwork in the house. Followed by washing every bit of woodwork in the house. Followed by priming every bit of woodwork in the house. And finally, followed by painting every bit of woodwork in the house - twice. Then I can repaint the living room and prime and paint the paneling in the family room.

Piece o’ cake*.
Alla you people feeling under the weather - feel better IMMEDIATELY. Alla you people facing surgery - good luck! And alla you people driving around in 'stang convertibles with red leather interiors - swing by and bring me some beer and cookies, willya?

Happy Friday all!

(*send help)

Ah, Rock Springs. Visted there. You have my sympathies. The Klingon and I drove over there because IIRC there was a shop there that sold gen-u-ine coyboy hats and The Klingon had to have one. IMO looked stoopit with all his forehead ridges.

lor, looks like you got yourself a humongous “honey-do” list. How’d that happen? Hubby gets to go off on a guy road trip while you slave away? Lost the bet, didn’t ya?

fcm, are you sure rue isn’t still dead?

Confession: I orginally thought MMP stood for Monday Morning Pointless.

Tupug

Yeah, I’m pretty sure. After all, I’m still his #1 Special Friend and most faithful email correspondent (OK, so I’m guessing on that one) and I’m certain that if he was dead, he’d at least send me a free ecard announcing his demise. Because we have this special connection, you see.

Shut up - I am not deluded!

My taxes are done! It took fifteen whole minutes and was awful. The state one was kinda neat actually because it was on-line and you just press a few keys and poof! yer done. I owed money this year, but not as much as I worried since my boss had been paying me too much and I could have ended up in a scary tax bracket, but I didn’t so phew. No sending off boxes to the IRS like **FCM ** said she was yesterday (was it one of those giant game show checks, that you needed a box? hmmm).

Happy friday, yay!

Oh, before I forget, does anybody here know about glucose levels? Mine was high and I’m wondering if that could be because the doctor ambushed me with a blood test and so I’d had a biiiig coffee and cookie right before. Or not. Plus I could call her but you guys are more funner.

Food intake will definitely affect the outcome. Don’t they usually want results after fasting for a certain amount of time?

Yes, but why <snerk> alone when you can get the whole MMP to <snerk> with you? Being naughty’s no fun all by yourself, said the snake to Eve.

I just hung up on a tele/web conference. They always make your head hurt. We don’t use the same software as the rest of the company so the cool new thingy won’t work for us AND because we’re a lowly “partner” office and not a full-fledged office, we’d have to pay extra for the priviledge of using it. So I hung up. That’ll show them. Or not.

I got my very own yogurt maker in the mail today. Yes, I know you don’t really need one, but I don’t have any other way to keep the in-process yogurt at the right temperature. Now I get to go home and try making my very own yogurt. OK, so it’s not as exciting as a new 'Stang, but what can I do?

Last night, after 8 hours at work, then rollerblading, then 1/2 an hour stuck in traffic because of an accident, I only received 1/2 of my normal kitty welcome when I got home. Uh-oh. What happened to my other kitty?? Is he sick somewhere?? Yikes! He always greets me at the door. Then I heard a piteous little mew. Oh no. He’s locked in somewhere. Where’d I lock him? In my bedroom. With no water, no food, no litterbox. I let him out and he ran directly to… no, not the litterbox… he went to his food. At least he’s got priorities. Fortunately, he’s also got a good bladder and there were no puddles (or worse) waiting for me in the bedroom.

Time to pretend to do some work. Happy weekend ever’body!

Type faster?

Ashes, when I was getting blood tests regularly whilst in the Navy, I was told to not eat for 12 hours before, and to have nothing more than a glass or two of water within a couple of hours of the drawing of the blood. I was told that any little thing can make blood chemistry look crazy. Of course, that never made any sense to me, because I don’t normally go around fasting and not drinking coffee. That was my normal blood chemistry status, so why shouldn’t they test it that way?

Surprisingly, I never got a good answer from them in 20 years of asking.

I hate tax day too, especially since I found out last night that I can deduct the money that the judge said I have to send my ex-wife every month. I wish I knew that before I finished my taxes. So now I gotta file for an extension, redo this year’s taxes, and file an ammendment for last year’s taxes. On both the Federal and state levels. On any other night I’d just grind it out and run down to the post office before midnight, but Friday is Yuengling night for me. And I guy I work with is in a band that’s playing in downtown Norfolk tonight. Since his band goes on stage at 11 pm, I gotta start looking for a parking place now.

What do you call 25 IRS agents that are in the process of skydiving?

Skeet.

Have a good weekend, y’all.

You know who else is absent? dangergene that’s who. Where is his manic post for this week? Maybe the mean monkeys finally got him.

I am such a horrible pet friend. I woke up this morning to both the cat and the dog fussing at me. It appears they are both out of food. Do you think one of the kids could have mentioned it to me? Of course not! So, now I get to feel guilty ALL day until I get home. Of course, on the way home I will have to stop at Costco for my poor kitty and doggy and buy them food.

**Bumba, ** I’m just trying to decide how much of your stuff I want now. Also, the Litsea Cubeba; is that limey citrusy, lemony citrusy, orangey citrusy smelling? Can you 'splain a little more. Too bad we can’t smell through the computer, huh?

Well, I need to finish my bunny food (yet another salad) and work some more on the STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPIT tasker.

Sean, you probably don’t ACTUALLY want some sort of answer or anything, but what the hell, I’m on a roll today.

I bet what they are looking for is a baseline result. We know that food is going to cause fluctuations. But if you’re already starting from an elevated or depressed blood sugar level, that’s going to determine if you’ve got any diseases or not.

So you’re removing the variability of diet from the equation. Maybe calling it your “normal” level is a misnomer. Personally, (in my absolutely laywoman’s vocabulary) I prefer to think of it as “baseline”.

I’ll shut up now…

Tell me about fasting before a test! A couple of years ago I was having tests all the freaking time and had to sit around all limp and more pathetic than usual until I could get poked with a million needles. At least I bleed well, but sheesh. And you’d think I’d know more about glucose levels and stuff, but I can’t keep track of what those little blood pressure numbers mean, much less what high glucose means. I can tell you the entire plot of every single episode of *I Love Lucy * though.

Okay taxi, what kind of deal did you make that you can lock your kitty up and he’s not shredded the door jamb and carpet? My uber-princess Violet makes confetti of anything in her way when I foolishly close any door. Doesn’t matter what room it is, or where she was last seen, if I close a door, she will be locked in. I think that may be a clue to the whole Schrodinger’s cat dilemma.

Weekend’s in two hours, yay!

Aerin just pounds on the door and demands to be let in. Any shut door indicates a room full of mice. Crinkly rustle-y mice. And bugs. And anything else that’s fun. She also makes loud offended noises that sound exactly like, “Moooo-om! Mom! Mom!”.

This was on the second page. Is it the weekend or something? Sheesh.

There was a Family Thing that came up this week. It was sorta sad, but not totally tragic, and it ate up the week. It’s pretty much settled now, and things are getting back to normal, so next week should be all better. That’s pretty much all I’m saying about it one way or the other, so you’ll have to live with the cryptic and vague.

But I will say House DeDay and all the pets are currently hale and healthy, so you won’t have to worry about that.

And now that you’ve told the world that the pets are healthy, you are tempting the fates, risking puddles of puke. Beware!

My third pottery class went rather well, according to my teacher. I’m still not sure if I like it or not. But I did find my lost bowl. I now have 4 pieces done: 2 waiting for the kiln and 2 drying so I can trim them next week.

My husband kicked me in the shin. OK, so he was asleep, as was I, and he was probably dreaming, but it was a kick all that same. Hard enough to wake me up. I told him about it and he got all apologetic - like I ever thought it was deliberate!! But maybe I can milk it for chocolate or something. I’ve been accusing him of chasing bunnies in his sleep - I wonder if last night he was auditioning for the Rockettes or something??

Get chocolate. Make him feel real bad and get you chocolate.

Mr. Lissar is at a karate and weapons tournament today. I hope he returns with no broken bones.

Time to take apart a chicken!

Yes…definitely chocolate. Always a worthwhile reward.

Rue, sorry to hear you had a sad week. Hope the next one is better…

I. am. tired.

I spent a fair amount of time yesterday in the garden pulling weeds and moving stuff out of beds. I scraped my knee VERY STUPIDLY on Friday (I should not cross the street while talking on the phone…) and was unable to kneel, so I mainly did stand uppy stuff such as continue to remove the big wild rosebush and the out-of-control blackberry brambles. Both should be gone by the end of next weekend - YAY! Also I obtained a weeder that you can use to pull dandelions while standing up. It actually works quite well. I bought an edger that’s the same brand last year and it’s worked out well, so I figured it was a pretty safe bet.

And then there was this morning. Four of us spent about 2 hours distributing 50 bags of mulch in the church garden. I’d hoped there would be more of us, but was glad there were at least more than two. It’s sunny and warm and I’m probably sunburned, but it looked quite nice when we were done.

Now I’m wavering between going out to look at plants and continuing to work in the garden.

Or maybe I’ll just take a nap.
