The Spring Done Sprung MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 54 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 77 for the day. As I look at the forecast for the week, I see mid to upper 50s for lows and mid 70s to lower 80s for highs. Also, trees are all budded out and the pollen is a flyin’, so Spring done sprung here in the southern USofA!

Anybody else in the northern hemisphere seein’ Spring? Don’t know if we have mumpers in the southern hemisphere on a regular basis, but just in case, any sign’s of Fall there yet?

Happy Monday and hijack away!

Yep, spring has most clearly sprung here. Miniskirts, people in short-sleeved shirts, children forgetting their coats in school…

Yup, spring has sprung.

Blurf. Gigablurf.

Spring is my favorite time of the year, yet two things really bite: Daylight Savings Time, and tree sex. I’m grumpy, my head hurts, and the FooMobile is orange (trees), and barely awake (DST).

One positive this weekend: my garden seed order arrived Saturday.

Daffydills all over my yard are bloomin’, and the day lilies are poking their greenery thru the soil. The pansies I planted in the fall are absolutely gorgeous now - altho I think watering them helped. And, like swampster, we’re looking at highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s for the next 10 days or so. I plan to have windows open, and I intend to start working in the yard a bit.

I have a Dr appt at 9 this morning, and after I get back, I’m making a trash-n-recycling run. Then I’ll start some yard work. Not too much - I don’t want to overdo and hurt myself, but I think I have a project that isn’t too big n will make a noticeable improvement in the front yard.

Tomorrow, probably morning, the tree guys are coming to take 4 trees down and away and grind the stumps. I have to remember to park the truck in the back yard before they get here - so I’ll just put it out back when I come back from the trash run.

And on Weds, I’m taking a load of afghans and hats-n-scarves to Mom.

**FCD **is going to PA today and with luck, he’ll be back Thurs for supper. He’s not looking forward to this trip, poor baby. At least he’s not going alone - his minion/draftsman is going along.

Thus beginneth my week. Well, thus, and with leftover PapaJohn’s mushroom pizza.

Happy Monday!!

A Poem by A. Nonny Maus that I was forced to memorize in 9th Grade
Spring has sprung
Da grass is riz
I wonder where dem birdies is?
Da little bird is on da wing
Ain’t dat absurd?
Da little wing is on da bird
No applause, please. Just send money.

and, oh yeah, blurf.

My mom’s poem was:

Spring has sprung and fall has fell,
Now it’s summer, and it’s hotter than usual.

Cracked her up every time…

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. It’s spring here, time for asthma season.

Like Nava, we don’t put our clocks back until 25th March so I can claim that it’s still winter over here! Needless to say, the weekend was gloriously warm and sunny so that gives a right lie to the idea of winter hanging on for another two weeks. Today it is a little overcast but it’s not cold.

The maintenance guys came to fix our office kitchen door this morning, it is supposed to be some sort of fire door and if the alarms go off then the door should close automatically but it is broken and shuts at random times of day. Naturally this was not the straightforward process it should have been, and we were unable to make drinks for a couple of hours. Monstrous!

No wonder my morning has had a serious dose of blurf.

Awakening. Going to have to drive down to the soon to be ex’s to deal with some mundane issues. Not looking forward to it.

Had a nice, quiet weekend. Managed to hook up my aged Mac tower to my tv and discovered I had a season of the Venture Brothers on iTunes to enjoy - forgot I had them. That kept me entertained for 4 hours. Though I bought this thing 9 years ago it still has life in it. What a pleasure.

Ahh well, good morning all!

We’re out of coffee so I’m having the last of the Prince of Wales tea this morning. This also represents the last of the black tea, so I’m going to have to drink the green and herbal stuff now. I’ll have to make a coffee run soon.

I should really get around to calling the Subaru place in Mont Noir soon to schedule a diagnostic. After tea.

:mad:EARWIG!

:mad:IN MY ROOM!

Yes, the season of flushing insects down the toilet is officially here. This looks like it’ll be a bad year for** A Ticks**.

:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
great - now my ears are going to itch all day

Back from doctor-related stuff. Turns out I was supposed to have been given the paperwork for the procedures back in Sept, then I was supposed to make the appointments after the first of the year. Since she didn’t give me the referrals, I assumed I was supposed to come back after the first of the year. No biggie. I’ve got all the forms and I’ve made 3 appointments for Thurs - tit squishin’ and bone scan in the morning, and meeting with the surgeon who does the colonoscopy in the afternoon. I assume the colonoscopy will be done soon thereafter.

BP is slightly elevated, so I’m supposed to take it for 2 weeks and report back. No biggie there.

And I forgot to share our latest addition to our undersea world in the living room. He’s about 5" across his broadest point - a very cool critter.

Great clam - really fancy folds!!! (And from me that just sounds dirty no matter how I word it)

Our winter was light snow-wise but lots of rain and rock salting here and there. Poor side cases on the mud-motorcycle are looking a bit shabby. Need to get to polishing but I think I’ll procrastinate that one a bit.

Back to work and never more glad to see my desk.

I pulled a tick off of Freya’s paw last week, and was  and . The first eek was for seeing a tick this early in the year, and the second for finding one in town, in Merrylande.

It was the first one on either dog since moving; de-tickification was a regular event in Cottonfield County.

ETA: I’ve already smacked my first skeeter of the year.

**kopek **- we call him Clamzilla. For some stupid reason, photobucket wouldn’t let me add the title to the pic. I couldn’t understand why **FCD **would want a clam in the tank, of all things, but it’s really interesting! When he first put it in there, all the fish stayed on the far right of the tank, seeming to just stare at the new resident - it was hilarious!! Now they mostly just ignore it. The guy at the fish store said the wrasse (we call him Wrasse-putin) will probably pick parasites off its shell eventually. Watching it at feeding time is really interesting. Really!

Well, I need to gather the household trash and recycling. woo and hoo…

Blurf.

I meant to take pictures of the furniture I bought on Saturday but I didn’t manage to. On the other hand, I did get Dad to help me start fixing them up. One thing I’m going to need his help on, the rest I can do.

Had fun at the party, but I basically zonked out on the couch after a few hours. I was tired and nauseous. Part of the stomach problem was apparently Mom and I’s late lunch - she was sick to her stomach too. Bummer.

As far as spring, it’s been alternating warm (and windy) and cold (but still) for the last month. I wish it’d make up its mind. Not too bad on the allergens front.

My head hurts again. Trying new drug. Yay for drugs!

yaaaaawn

Am definitely not awake today, after being rudely awoken by people outside my window, from a very odd dream involving tornadoes dropping turtles all over the place.

Spring has definitely sprung here- the daffodils are already starting to look tatty, and the cherry blossom’s coming out. My windowsills are already overrun with pots and seedlings, and it’s only just starting into growng season…

Went garden centre shopping, having got overly excited by the weather, and got some teeny fuschias and more seed potatoes. Was going to go try hunt down a cherry tree, but I got sleepy, and gave up, as I’m planning on going to my juggling club tonight, and I don’t want to get too tired and miss it.

Spent yesterday down the allotment (cheap council-run rental ground for growing fruit, veg 'n flowers); I have my own plot, which is lovely seeing as I live in a city, and move rental houses often, means I get a nice if chaotic garden, though it’s well over a mile away at the moment. Planted stuff out, pottered around, and lay on the grass in the sun, watching the birdies. Definitely the way to spend a sunday afternoon.

Then wound up doing a late night visit back down there in the dark, ‘cos someone offered me some free paving slabs, to finish off a path, but they had to go right away. I got my housemate to do all the carryin’, 'cos I’m still not allowed (doctors orders, I would have loved to carry dirty heavy slabs of concrete around, but my hands are tied, what can I do? ) and dropped them off there right away as it was close- was really dark, so spent a while out there admiring the unusually bright planets which are visible at the moment.

Happy Monday all!

One of our things with wheels is being a nuisance. Happened to look out and see the truck listing to one side atop a nearly flat tire. Figuring I’d picked up a nail or whatever, I pulled out the air compressor and filled the tire, making a note to take the truck to the tire shop tomorrow. After re-filling it, I pulled the hose off, and heard hissing. Turns out the valve is leaking. At least that should be fairly cheap as a fix. Although, the truck really needs a set of five new tires. (The spare has been hanging under the truck for six or seven years and is pretty much dry-rotted.) I just don’t have the requisite $800 to make that happen. :frowning:
