I’m off to purtify for irk…
Hijack away!
I’ll come back later.
First!
ETA: Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of a hunnert and two. Still no rain. :dubious:
Ok, that’s all I got for now. I must seek out more caffiene and some brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. Blurf.
Happy Monday Y’all!
Well, I get first blurf.
I got nuthin but meetings today.
It is way too early. Unfortunately, I still have to go to irk as I have mandatory training this morning and have to go represent my employer at a meeting this afternoon. But then I’m coming home to garden. I hope. So, there!
Hope everyone has a great Monday.
Hugs.
GT
Back to the old salt mine for me today. At least vacation was fun.
All you people posting that you’re having your morning coffee, and I’m sitting here munching my lunchtime salad!
After a miserable day of constant rain yesterday and the threat of the same this morning, it’s now bright and sunny out there.
gt - I have finally “cast a clout” and put the summer weight duvet on the bed so that means it will turn positively arctic tonight. I only have four days of irk this week, I’ll be off on Friday and the following Monday as we’re off to York for my friend’s unbirthday weekend.
Following the advice in the previous MMP, I’ll be checking skirt lengths on the Centurions and Vikings, and I’ll pick which one looks best!
Tired. My hubby drove from CT to NC, Saturday and Sunday. He then immediately turned around and drove back to Long Island. I stayed up to hear he got in safe, then couldn’t sleep.
Tired now.
Blurf.
Here I am at irk, sipping coffee.
The fireball is coming up, and we shall have a week of dry, hot 100° days - no chance of rain.
Ugh.
My boss is gone to Vegas for a conference. Lucky dog.
Ooh - you know I made a ham last night, right? (Well, you do now!) Anyways - I had a fresh pineapple that I sliced up and sauteed in butter with a sprinkle of brown sugar. Oh em gee! 'Twas wonderful. I love pineapple and ham.
Ok - I’ll go check my email now. Gotta look like I’m working, right?
Howdy from irk! Same weather here it looks like Rebo. I guess it just won’t rain at all anymore. :dubious:
Mornin’ everyone. Hope everyone’s weekbend was a good’n.
I got to do somethin’ pretty cool; I’m just getting to know my across street neighbor, Glen, but Friday he suggested we go to a client’s cattle ranch and poke around. He frequently takes his metal detector out there and searches around 3 sites. One is an old plantation from an original Texas 300 settler that came down from Virginia w/ 100 slaves. A second is where General Custer camped w/ men during the Civil War and a third is a shallow water crossing of the Brazos where Sam Houston and his men crossed as they baited Santa Anna east before turning on and routing his just a ways further in San Jacinto. It was also used by the Indians and recently Glen’s discovered both arrowheads and two mastodon teeth. He actually found two of the sites metal detecting, told Greg the owner and they’re now being officially excavated by archaeological teams. We went into Greg’s house there to see some of the items. He owns among other things Cowboys and Indians magazine, so his house was incredible. He was telling us about interviewing Richard Farnsworth (one of my acting heroes), John Wayne, Robert Duvall, Jeff Bridges, Mark Harmon (who gave him spurs given him by Farnsworth) etc. Fascinating guy.
Back at Glen’s house he showed me a bunch more Gred insisted he keep, US Army beltbuckles, buttons, coins, gun pieces, a silver smelter, etc, etc, etc. As a history lover I was salivating profusely. This is the kicker I needed to finally go purchase a metal detector myself. Next time I’ll think to tote along a camera and share some pics. Made for an enjoyable weekend, all in all.

coffee is brewing. I iz tahrd
I’m at irk with not much to do. Blurf.
Blurf. Nothing much to do today at work…
House inspection today as part of the relocation thing…wondering how much we are going to have to repair if the company has to buy the house.
And this afternoons excitment is getting 30 bajillion signatures notarised on the relo paperwork. Urgh.
Oh and our washer crapped out on us yesterday. Water everywhere so we have to go shopping for one of those later this week as well.
Need more coffee. Didn’t get enough sleep. Our 2 1/2 year old decided he had enough sleep at 4:30. Then my wife woke up at 5:30 having some contractions. Alas 8.5 months doesn’t seem to be long enough for our second kid to be done cooking in there. She got up (our first was up again) and the contractions stopped. Darn, I was hoping I would be calling off today.
Good afternoon all! Still adjusting to the alt. in ABQ!! I love it, though, it’s so DRY here!! Internet connection won’t happen for a couple of weeks, but I will post when I can. Love to you all.
Spring has returned - the first 3 or 4 days of this week will be in the 70s!!! <happy dance> So the house is open and it’s 74 inside. Very nice.
I need to gather the household garbage and recycling and head to the convenience center. I also need to think about making supper.
Not much going on at work. The boss won’t be in till tomorrow - we could have waited till today to do the balloons. At least 1 popped and at least 2 are deflated and limp. The rest seem a bit deflated. But we do have photos of how cool it looked on Friday, so there’s that.
The guy who hired me 7 years ago popped in to talk. He’s put in his papers also, and we’ll go skipping out hand in hand on the 29th! And like me, he doesn’t want a ceremony or a to-do. So far, only 6 people have requested retirement. Looks like I could have held off till the end of the year. Oh well…
Other than that, a dull day. I was asleep before 9 last night, but the idiot dog woke me at 2:30, so I’ve been dragging a bit. Dumb dog. Oh well, off to gather trash…
Good morning (still, for a couple of minutes more) and I have my coffee mostly inside me, and I am looking forward to the day. I had a good weekend, Saturday my niece (from my former marriage) and her two daughters came over and we had a wonderful visit. It was so good to talk with someone who grew up in the village, she understands what I am talking about! They will be coming over this Saturday, and I am happy that I haven’t lost all of my ex-in-law family!
My parents returned Thursday night from a three week vacation in Hawai’i, and there was a mention of presents, yay! They recently had some extensive remodeling done to their home, and mom made me promise to not go there until she was home so she can "introduce me to the “new” house, and I am going up there later. Yesterday was her 70th birthday so we met them at a restaurant for dinner, (they had gone with some friends, so we stopped by after their friends left for a quick bite at The Olive Garden, which my parents absolutely love) Today we will bring her gifts (including her favorite, a key lime pie I will be making in a bit with fresh key limes) and then we will take her and dad out to dinner at the restaurant at one of the hotels here; it’s much more upscale and befitting a 70th birthday celebration, imnsho! There a lots of other prezzies for her too, everyone loves my mom!
My new deck is a virtual Eden (in my eyes at least, and I suppose that is what matters) and I am such a happy woman. I love my home, and if a couple of you remember I have a “secret” which I haven’t shared yet… his name (for anon purposes) is California, and he is wonderful!
Happy Monday y’all!
Ugh. My stomach has been acting up the past few days. Not quite nauseous, just icky. No news on the job yet.
Supper was mac-n-cheese and peas. I’m going to knit now. I’s tahred…
