Leftover lasanga and sallit for dindin. That was easy. Got a poke roast in the convection oven for tomorrow night. I figured cookin’ it tonight would be easier. Don’t ask me why.
The aunt of two good friends of mine died yesterday. No big shock because she was 96 and had been in ill health for several years. For that reason, there is a small ham cookin’ in the slow cooker. I’ll take it over tomorrow. I don’t know why that either except that well, a ham is a good thing to nibble upon while one mourns. Fried chikin and N.O.T. are good for that too. And cake.
Whew! Long day, and although I was productive, I still don’t feel like I got a lot done.
My son started his new job today. He was doing some demolition work at some housing on the military installation I work on. He was clear across post from me, but I wish I would have known. When he left, he took the wrong entrance ramp onto the freeway and ended up going south instead of north, so he had to turn around. Then he realized he’d left his cell phone in the work truck, so he had to go to a co-worker’s house to retrieve it. He came home covered in dirt and grime and has a blister on his hand. He’s showered and cleaned up, but he looks and acts exhausted. In fact I know he’s exhausted as he’s sitting around in lounge/jammie pants instead of getting ready to work out.
lieu, that sounds really cool. I love history and that stuff sounds right up my alley.
Hi** wiki! **Good to see you. I’m glad you had a nice visit with the family.
I’m sorry about the auntie of your friends,** Swampy**. She did live a long life, and if she was in ill health, now she’s at peace.
So I missed the broadcast of the Tonys because Cousin forgot to call me (or even remind me when I saw her on Saturday) But I found the musical numbers on You Tube.
I have to say - NPH is one talented little mo’fo’; and who knew Harry Potter could dance?
And then there’s Hugh Jackman. <sigh> 'nuff said.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 102! This is Summer with a vengance!
Ok, other than that I got nuttin’ this mornin’. Thus I shall seek more caffiene and brekkie for rumbly tummy. Also, alas, irk purtification must commence.
BBBobbio, I can’t imagine who could possibly object to you joining the rescue squad. Got any clues?
Nothing exciting to report today, I had a peaceful evening at home last night but I felt sufficiently guilty about my slothful Sunday that I did get as far as vacuuming the carpets. I also cooked and washed dishes, and folded the laundry in the bathroom. It wasn’t enough to burn many calories either, so the scales were rather rude to me this morning and it’s Fat Club tonight. Bah!
I am looking forward to my long weekend in York though, only two more days at work and then I am off on a little break. I am also not going to the pub tomorrow as my drinking buddies are on holiday and I am instead going to feed their cat and three ferrets. No doubt the cat will insist that he’s starving and hasn’t been fed for days, and also demand a certain amount of fuss before I’m allowed through the door.
Never seen a winter, spring or summer like this’un before. “Historic” would be far from inaccurate.
Taters, ain’t nuthin’ in the world I enjoy more than ‘artifact expeditions.’ I found some really cool Indian pieces on our CO place this past trip and a visit to a serious hunter’s house nearby simply had me floored by his collection. Now this place down here opens up so it looks like the fun can continue. My friend is passionate about it and undoubtably the archaeologists onsite will provide a measure of inspiration and expertise as well. Now, if we could just get some suitable weather for field work…
Morning, all! I’ve been head down at work, for all the good it’s done me. It looks like I’ll be losing this job before I can find another one. I’ve been in this position for 16 months, which is apparently a record for the past 15 years! This is the job where my predecessor quit on her way home on her first day. I’m not sure if that makes me persistent or stoopid.
Our landlady ordered us a new fridge, because the old one is going wonky. New one was supposed to be delivered this AM, but apparently some moron at the warehouse speared it with a forklift…
Second attempt now scheduled for Thursday AM. Anyone want to bet that Sears will go beyond 3 delivery tries?
Howdy Y’all! Takin’ an eary N.O.L. break cause I’s hongry and got somewhere to be at noon. Figured it’d be a good time to sneak in a post just cause I can.
Well so much for that. My noon appointment cancelled on me. She called at least, so there’s that. Bless her heart, she’s not feelin’ well and called to say she’d called her doctor and was told to come on in. So, I shall see her tomorrow mornin’. I knew y’all would want to know.
Stomach is doing better so far, but we’ll see. I think most of it is not drinking most of the day (usually at work I keep a water bottle next to me. Yesterday I didn’t because I brought a drink and I usually don’t at home, although I try to get up and get a drink when I notice I’m thirsty.)
Still no word on the job and I’m starting to get pessimistic. Too soon to worry do you think? They emailed me Thursday and I didn’t notice until Saturday.
I made the mistake of putting real milk in my coffee yesterday because we were out of soy. I paid the price this morning. I got to come home from irk early (the two managers in today are also intolerant of the lactose–who knew?) and now I’m eating soup and drinking Gatorade to deal with the dehydration. I’m getting more soymilk tonight. No more moo juice for this kitty.
Home. Mini-pizzas for supper. Boss came in today and laughed at the balloons, so yay! He also asked for my resume and came and asked me some questions about it. I see a roast or something in my future.
Three other folks are leaving this week - one retired, 2 got new jobs. Another has a job offer from the FBI, but I don’t know when he leaves. Yet another is being courted by the CIA. I’m leaving at a good time - many of my buds are deserting the sinking ship.
