Sorry to hear about the kitty, WileE..

It sucks that you had a bad day. I’m very sorry, and so are my kittens. Well, Aerin is sorry. Bailey is flipping out and hissing because the furniture is all moved around.
I look like I’ve been axe-murdering people, but the first coat is on. My room is dark red. It will be very peaceful until 6:30 tomorrow morning, when they start drilling again. Attacks Husband says he is willing to be painting-crew-slave-labour as long as he is paid in Trader Joe’s cocoa almonds. He also tried to run off with the Dulche de Leche caramel balls.
I did mention that the Canadian postal service sucks, yes? This is why you haven’t got your parcels yet.
Wile E I’m so sorry about the kitty.
There’s a brand new fully loaded dark metallic gray Mustang convertible in at Ford Town (the local Ford car buyin’ place). I got a call about it last night but I didn’t say anything then. I’m going to look at it after work. I got promised first dibs if I want it cause I really want a Mustang convertible real, real bad. Note that is want, not need. It’s only drawback is red leather interior. The red I don’t mind. It’s the leather. It gets hot here and stays that way for a loooooong time. Sigh ACBG’s going with me to look at it and perhaps to try and talk me either out of it or into it. I never know with that critter. I want one of the new Mustang convertibles! Maybe they’ll offer me a real sucky deal. I need help. First a new puter now I’m drooling over a car. It’s like I got “he’ll buy anything” tattooed on my forehead!

I’m sorry to hear about your bad week and the kitty, WileE. I lost my favorite to a car accident a couple years ago, and haven’t gotten another (it was an inside cat that my ex thought should go play outside.)
I was going to say something about bracing for an onslaught of words from dangergene (it is Wednesday), but I don’t think it’ll be as funny after your news,
So sorry about your cat, Wile. At least it knew it was loved. I’ll give the ferrets an extra scritch tonight, just to be thankful for them.
Try roasting the asparagus in the oven, and then sprinkling with salt. It brings out a sweetness in them, and they are even good cold. If they have thick stems, peel them with a vegetable peeler. The inside is tender, and has become my favorite part. (This was a tip from Julia Childs.)
{{{{{{{{wile e}}}}}}}} So sorry. Their lives are so short anyway, it sucks when they die young.
quilter, my BIL grills “spare guts” with olive oil and spices. BarbeeDoll[sup]TM[/sup] says it’s quite delish that way. I must try it soon. BIL grilled some Nova Scotia Lobster for us last summer at the beach. It was devine!
swampy, leather seats aren’t as bad as you think. Get you one of those windshield screens and you’ll be jake. I had a 65 mustang when I was 19. It was a white convertible with white interior and a 289 V8 engine. Durn thing was too light in the rear end. It was okay on nice dry roads but pretty much sucked if the roads were wet or snowy. Good thing I was too young and stupit to worry about the occasional hydroplane ride back then.
fcm, sorry…we just sucked your spring down here cause this is sunny Flawduh. We have a rep to maintain, don’tcha know. We’ll give it back in a bit.
Tupug
Wile E- I’m sorry for the bad day, losing a friend without warning is never any fun, but it reminds me to give the dog an extra Scooby snack tonight.
Taxi- that is a shame you can’t go inside the dam anymore, that was a neat experience, and the generators in that thing are absolutely massive. Maybe if I can dig out the pics we took of them I can scan them in to a free photo site and post a link. I had no idea how incredibly large that thing is in general. I have to agree with you on the fountains at the Bellagio, they are a great site, especially at night when they are lit. We stayed at the MGM, and were fortunate enough to have a fantastic view of them from our window. Unfortunately, they were rearranging the gardens when we were there, so we didn’t get to tour them, a major disappointment for me, and our wedding photographer. We were able to get some great pics on the lawn there, as well as on the marble staircase.
Scout- do yourself a favor and head to the top of the Stratosphere tower, just for the views. I was too chicken to hop on the rides, but Mrs. S. said the Big shot was quite a rush, and they have put in a few new thrills there, if you are into it. Downtown, or old Vegas is a good place to get away from the tourists, and there is a great light show on Fremont street, as well as plenty of cheap rum drinks!
I developed a love of asparagus later in life, but some melted butter and thin sliced almonds do it a world of good.
Wile E I am sorry to hear about the kitty.
I luuuurves aspargus, even if it does make your uh…water smell funny.
I love it steamed, I loved it grilled. Another way to prepare aspargus is to cut it into bite sized or just slightly longer pieces and saute it in butter. Be creative with the butter, season it up with various herbs or spices or lemon or whatever.
Nummers…
I like Mustangs too. I always wanted a candy apple red 65 thru 67 convertible Mustang when I was a kid. I’d still buy one now if I didn’t have to worry about packing the family and groceries around. Now I’m thinkin’ newer Explorer. So, the Mustang will have to wait. Besides, the older child is nearly to driving age. No way on God’s green earth would I allow her to drive my Mustang.
I’d really like to get an Expedition but gas prices are just astronomical and I cringe enough when filling the Explorer. The hubby’s truck causes me physical pain when he fills that monstrosity up.
I am getting old. My lower back is causing me some very extreme pain. Usually, the pain kinda goes away once I’m up and moving around, but these last two days have really been bad. The pain hasn’t let up and it’s getting worse as the days go by. I’m going to give it a couple more days and if it doesn’t clear up, I guess I’m going to have to break down and see a doctor. Have I mentioned that I detest going to the doctor? Have I mentioned that I must be near death to even go near there? I am bad, bad, bad about going in for regular visits, be they physicals, girl exams, or whatever. I’m a year (next month) overdue for a mammogram. This issue with going to the doctor is totally illogical, I know it. I have insurance, I should use it. I make sure the kids go, I just don’t set the example by going myself.
Guess I better start the work day now…
Wile E, I’m sorry to hear about the kitty. I’ve got two, and I volunteer at a kitty shelter so I know how much each and every kitty means to a cat lover. My kitties and I will keep you in our thoughts.
Striker, I definitely want to check out the Stratosphere. I wanted to check it out the last time I was there, but didn’t have the time.
Taters, please don’t wait. Unexplained lower back pain could mean a kidney infection, even if you have no other symptoms. Waiting a couple days will only make things worse.
And speaking of kidneys, the last couple times I ate asparagus, I didn’t notice that distinctive odor. What could that mean? Since I love asparagus, I may have to go eat a bunch more to investigate this phenomena.
Taters, get thee to the doctor (says the chick who’s over due herself).
Plus, swampy, I’ll also mention that leather seats aren’t as bad as you might think. It gets up to 125 degrees here and I’ve got black leather seats in a black car and I do okay. In fact, the worst part is the hot door handles. Silver with red looks awful spiffy, especially if the red is a little dark, zowie! Oh! Besides the window thingey that was mentioned, you could also cover your seats in summer. Think of the fun you could have designing custom seat covers; you could get them in fuzzy bear fur (fake o’course), with little bear ears on the head rest. Or not.
Wile E., take time to hug the kitties and be happy about the ones who *are * okay. And I don’t suppose there’s a vaccine for that bad stuff, is there? Special food, exercises? My two monsters are getting extra smootches tonight.
I almost want to leave the bedroom without the second coat. I think it looks cool with different shades of red and burgundy. It’s pretty. The ceiling is still white, and the closets and ceiling stand out beautifully. It’s not as dark as I feared it would be, alothugh it’s pitch-black at night, which I rather like. Warm-looking. If Mr. Lissar takes some pics, I’ll put them up.
Laundry’s done. Lunchtime, then fridge cleaning, then dance class, then painting.
In about 25 more minutes I’m going to look at the car. ACBG is meeting me. Will I be the proud new owner of a 2005 Ford Mustang Convertible? Will the red leather interior scare me? Will I mangle an arm or something trying to figure how the top works? Stay tuned to this MMP for the answer to these questions and all kinds of other weirdness.
The previous message was brought to you by the Ford Motor Company, where selling cars to people who don’t need them is Job #1.
Good news!! Well, maybe. I was interviewed by an investigator today. She told me she was told my file was a priority. Actually, I think our admiral made a bunch of us priorities - we’ve got people who have been awaiting security clearances for over a year, one guy close to 2 years!! So anyway, something is moving on my case. So maybe I’ll actually be able to do my job soon. Guess I better get in gear and finish my training exercises…
swampy, are you having a mid-life crisis? Mustang convertible? I’m sorry, it doesn’t work. If you gotta drive a convertible, you have to get a pick-up and cut the roof off. It’s a Jawja law. Look it up!
Okay, so it’s been about three hours since Swampy posted to let us know he was going to look at the 'Stang. What’s the status?
Of course, if that dealer is anything like the Ford dealer where I got my Explorer back in '98, he’ll be in there for about another 4 hours. The constant “I have to check with manager” trips. Yeah, right… I finally called the guy’s bluff and got up and said I was walking unless I got what I wanted. Guess what, I got what I wanted. I should have done that much earlier in the process.
I’m sure Swampy won’t put up with it for as long as I did though.
Twenty more minutes and I can finally go home. I am SLEEPY! I don’t get to sleep when I go home though; dinner, laundry, etc. I think I’m going to try and get to be fairly early, all the same.
Thanks to everyone for the spare-guts/a-spare-grass ideas. Last year, I had a recipe that involved some shallots and a little bit of bacon. I think the asparagus in that one were roasted - also very good. Now if the asparagus would just grow a little faster (I really had a taste for them today, but alas, they’re not ready to be harvested just yet…).
::taps foot impatiently:: Shouldn’t swampy be back by now with a full report? (It’s been four hours now.) Hope he realizes we all expect rides in the new car.

And, of course, I got so focused on tapping my foot that I forgot to break out into my happy dance…my taxes are all done!!! (I’ve only been going to do them since February).
This is a sure sign of spring.
::does happy dance…wildly::

I wasjust out walking the dog…and I noticed Orion dipping down toward the horizon…n a few weeks , he won’t be visible anymore. That to me is spring! I also saw Draco for the first time since last summer.
Sometimes you don’tnotice the constellations…but now I’m sure we’re headed in the right direction.
