after all of the comments on how eerie Silent Hill is, I decided that I would like to try it out. However I am not sure what format it’s in. Is it only available in Playstation??
Only on Playstation–although Nintendo -is- making an ‘interactive fiction’ Silent Hill for one of the gameboy systems. Forget if it was for Game Boy Color or Game Boy Advance, though.
The best way to play Silent Hill is to jump right into it knowing only what the box and manual tells you–and play it alone–at night–with no other sounds to bother you. 
(Ridley Scott would be proud of the way the audio works in this game.)
It’s one of my favorite PSX games–right after “Metal Gear”. If you like games that are really immersive–you should have a lot of fun with it.

I second that motion–and also suggest that you use headphones if you can. I literally could not play this game alone with the aforementioned setup. (Well, I was able to until I reached the HOSPITAL! Arrggggghhhhhh…)
Also let me recommend Resident Evil 4 (Code Veronica) for Dreamcast. It isn’t near as scary as Silent Hill, but it’s still pretty freaky.
