Simpsons Didn't Do It!

[pedant mode] That wouldn’t be possible as the Simpsons exists in Futuramas “universe” as an old TV program. Groening says as much in the DVD commentary for the Futurama episode where they have to get rid of the giant garbage ball and they find a bart simpson doll…this doesn’t explain how Bender has appeared in an episode of the Simpsons (the fund raising one, he’s one of the guys manning the phones) [/pedant mode]

I don’t think anyone’s ever aged in the Simpsons (although Lisa has had a birthday).

“Mayor finances private swimming pool?! There’s no emoticon for what I’m feeling!”

For the OP: Has George Bush Jr. been spoofed yet? I know George senior lived next door, and Clinton has been featured many times, they’ve had Dole on there, and they’ve alluded to Dukakis a few times, but I don’t recall GWBJ being on there.

Was there anything else to that Family Guy/Spider-Man gag? I just found it funny cause it was out of nowhere, did I miss a bigger joke?

When Bart goes loopy from watching cable TV, he imagines Bender is one of the characters raising his chair Bar Mitzvah-style. So Futurama must be a TV show in the Simpsons universe as well.

There were a couple of episodes in which the Simpsons are older (Lisa’s First Love, Lisa as President), but I don’t remember any transitions from young to old. Does the orthodontist’s computer-simulation of Lisa count? “We could tour the countryside and charge two bits a gander!”

She’s had IIRC three. Bart’s had at least one. Maggie’s had one. Marge has had one. Not sure about Homer.

There are of course flashback episodes as well where the characters are younger (or being born) .

One thing they have never done - told which state Springfield is in.

Okay, going over these as I find them:

Computer-simulated aging-transitions were done for Lisa’s teeth, but also for the entire family (except Maggie, oddly) when Lyndsey Nagel was advising Homer and Marge on their finances. Apparantly, Homer is so poor that his grave will go untended and vanadalized (HA-ha! kof kof).

Spider-Man was indirectly referenced in the Malibu Stacy episode, when one of the talking Malibu Stacy dolls said “My spider-sense is tingling! Better sling a web!” or something to that effect (based on a real-life incident when some talking Barbies were accidentally given recordings for talking G.I. Joe dolls).

Mail-order brides were referenced in an episode where (I believe) a telephone company builds a cell tower in the Simpson home, which allowed Marge to start listening in on cellphone calls with a baby monitor. Moe was on the phone telling someone (Barney, I think) that Groundskeeper Willie had sent away for a mail-order bride but was too cheap to pay the COD, so she was stuck down at the depot.

Although the Goreans haven’t been mentioned, Bart’s video project featured medeival-style bondage and torture, which naturally freaked out Marge when she came home after stewing about the younger woman who had briefly moved in after being jilted by Otto.

Homer’s had at least one birthday, though it wasn’t exactly celebrated. It was shortly after he’d seen an alien in the woods, but couldn’t get anyone to believe him:

Homer: I can’t believe it. I’m being mocked. By my own children. On my birthday.
Bart: It’s your birthday?
Homer: Yes! Remember, it’s the same day as the dog’s.
Lisa: Santa’s Little Helper, it’s your birthday? Ooh! We’ve gotta get you a present. [cuddling him] Yes we do! Yes we do!
Bart: [cuddling him] We love you, boy.
Marge: [cuddling him] Good doggie. Good doggie. [Maggie joins in, leaving Homer alone at the table]
Homer: [grumbling] Lousy loveable dog.

Homer had one; when nobody remembered, he mentioned it was the same as the dog’s, and everybody sarting giving the dog a lot of attention (and ignoring Homer).

How do we know that The Simpsons wasn’t a live action show in the Futurama universe?

Well, they did have a stand-up comedian (possibly Krusty?) who said, “If your idea of a date is burning down her village, you just might be a viking!” A viking in the audience laughs sheepishly and says, “That’s what I get for sitting up front!” Then he throws a torch down on the next table and drags away two screaming women.

And ‘Futurama’ exists in the ‘Simpsons’ universe as a TV show; Matt Groening was a guest voice recently as the creator of ‘Futurama’.

I thought you were trying to think of a rock group that hasn’t yet done a guest shot.

I kinda think Homer getting raped while wearing a panda suit would qualify.

Apu’s family has.

Dooku, George W. hasn’t been mentioned directly (that I can think of), but in a recent one many of his Cabinet members were in the audience as the Simpson family was forced to do a patriotic song and dance.

Regarding time travel in general: In one segment of a THOH, Homer makes multiple trips back in time and to the present day via a badly repaired toaster. But please keep in mind that THOHs are considered non-canonical. (Which would also exclude the Kang and Kodos taking over the world segment. OTOH, they do appear in at the of the “roasting Homer” show so they are “real” characters in the Simpsonsverse.)

I don’t believe any member of the SDMB has been mentioned on the show by their pre-existing name. (Choosing a user name like Jubjub obviously doesn’t count.)

Furries as a community.

Also, the otherkin. Don’t you just know that the Comic Book Guy, deep inside, has a troo dwaggyn spyryt?

Well, aside from the commentary, Bart Simpson relics in the Futurama universe could be the remnants of his short-lived fame as the “I didn’t do it” boy. So I don’t think it can be canonically established that they’re separate worlds.

In the Australia episode, when Bart calls Antarctica, the one guy checks the toilet and it’s frozen. As he’s leaving another guy comes in with a magazine and makes a “disappointed” sound.

I always thought it was a girly-mag. If so, that would cover Antarctica and onanism in the same scene.

But maybe he was just bringing the mag in to take a dump with.

I assume that means me, too. I chose the name Superdude as a riff on a less mature Superman, then later learned that it was the name of Bart’s class’s hamster.
