Only by killing the pregnant Sim. Sims never “Try for Baby” autonomously, though, so if your Sim gets pregnant, it’s because you (the player) wanted it to, or because you stargazed with the expensive telescope and forgot about the risk of alien abduction. (Sims may stargaze autonomously, so it is possible to get pregnant autonomously, but only for male sims.)
YOu can get your mail Sims pregnant?
Er, I mean male Sims.
:smack:
Male Sims that get abducted by Aliens will always come back pregnant, without fail.
Has anyone tried building his own community lot yet? I never visited the community lots in Pleasantview, so I don’t have an understanding of how they work in Sims 2, only how they worked in the original game’s expansion packs.
The other night I realized I was sick of dealing with the Caliente sisters and Don Lothario, so I’d just stop playing Pleasantview and start my own new neighborhood from scratch (besides, it would let me crack open SimCity 4 again). I got a terrain and street layout I was happy with – Crystal Lake, where the summer camp has been shut down after all the “unpleasantness” and replaced with a peaceful suburban community. I made about four or five houses and three families to populate it, and that took so much time that I just decided to leave it there for now.
However, one of my sims has the “romantic” aspiration and is constantly wanting to “meet someone new,” even though I didn’t feel like making any more Sims right now. I figured I’d build a community lot and let him meet all the auto-generated Sims there.
I built a ski lodge with a pool and hot tubs and plenty of space for a nice romantic restaurant, but then I couldn’t find anything to make a restaurant. The only food-related items I saw were an outdoor grill, and then freezers and produce stands for a grocery store. Does anyone know how to make a restaurant on a community lot? Or do I have to wait for the expansion?
Yeah, I think we’re going to have to wait on that.
Thank OG that eating that crap does so much more for them now.
They can actually get full from a hotdog!
Unfortunately, there are no restaurants in the community lots, which for me was a big disappointment. There’s actually very little to do downtown at this point that they can’t just do at home, except for meeting Townies. I very rarely go downtown at all for that reason.
Well, Alexander Goth had Athena Goth and his spouse, Cognac Broke, Adopted Gnose Broke, but at their birthday party, a glitche reared its ugly head. The party drug on a .3 frames per second, and never ended, so we had to destroy the lot and rebuuild. Fortunately the family is ok and is enjoying their much more stylish and larger home I built for them.
So what does Adult Cassandra Goth look like? Still a nerd?
A bit. She’s got a freaky-looking hairdo.
Does anyone know if you can change the names of your sims after they’re in play? I had a roommate move out and I want to give him his own last name.
That she does. We had to change it; it is just too weird.
Only way to change a last name is to marry (or join) to someone else. There is no known way to change a first name.
Darn, that means I’ll have to create a new character, have the roomie move in and take his name, then kill off the new character.
Oh well, swimming pools for everyone!
On the name changing thing, for our mixed sex couples, does the wife always take the husband’s name, or does the couple get the name of the person who initiated the “get married”?
I had a bit of a scare with the Lovebird family last night. Lyle went to work, in his helicopter, and teen Laurie, with the romance aspiration, grew up into an adult. Getting a good start on his goal of making out with 10 different Sims, he made a play for the maid. That was going well, but she kept wanting to play video games so while their relationship points were rising, it was taking ages to get them to have a crush on each other.
Meanwhile, Lyle was not coming home from work! I could see his meters falling rapidly, I think the poor guy was in kidney failure. Finally I realized that with the maid’s van parked in front, the helicopter had nowhere to land. Whew. Sent the maid home, although not before Lyle messed himself.
I also got a kick out of the fears for the elder Sims. Fear of sending email … I couldn’t figure that out for a while, then I realized heh, they’re old, and afraid of technology! They also often get a fear of being stinky.
My “wife” sim has been missing work since her husband got the helicopter ride into work. I think I need to get him out of the house sooner as it keeps causing her ride not to come…
It’s fun to see the names others pick! I’ve been planning a classical theme for any children of Mortimer or Alexander as well. So far, only Morti has been able to have a child - Daphne Caliente.
(But then, I haven’t been able to get the first generation of teens up to adult hood yet. I keep changing my mind about who I want to pair them up with!)
Has anyone else noticed that on the cover of the game…it’s a grown up Angela Pleasant having an intimate moment with Don Lothario? It makes me want to shake things up for her and finally free poor Dustin when the time is right!
Just send her to work in the heli
The last name is determined by the house in which the marriage takes place, I’m fairly certain, but I’ve never had a couple get engaged in one home, and get married in another, so I can’t be 99% sure of that. But in general, it’s by the house that the couple stays in.
I’ve noticed that they house name stays the same regardless of what the Sims last name is.
For instance, I had Betty Johnson and Pao Mellon married.
Pao initiated the marriage, so now both their last names are Mello, but in the neighborhood screen it still reads Johnson when you click on it.
Same for her daughter, whose family name is Lawson, but the house says Johnson.
When Harold Harshess was proposed marriage by Mary-Sue Pleasant, he bacame Harold Pleasant.
I wish I could, but I don’t think that’s allowed. Unfortunately, hubby is due to leave for work at 9am (Business) and she’s due to leave at 10am (Medicine). Can I send her to work at 9 with hubby?
Usuaully not, and even if they had the same work times, I don’t think a Sim can use a carpool vehicle slated for a higher (or lower) work level than their own.
