Which Rocky Horror did you guys used to hang out at? I used to go to the one near Lakehurst Mall, but only occasionally.
Oh, I also used to go to the Thirsty Whale all the time for the all-ages shows. There is, sadly, evidence of this era, in the photo album at the Thirsty Whale rememberance site with a guy I used to date, Jamie Patrick of No Romeo. Everyone around there knew me as Angel.
Ah hell, I might as well post the picture. Anyone laughs, I’ll, I’ll…well, I’ll understand. It was the late 80’s and I had big hair and a leather bra. Try and bear in mind I was only about 17 at the time, I didn’t know any better.
More connection - the majority of my RHPS days were spent at the Biograph, but when that closed, I could be found at the Prospect Theater in Mt Prospect, the Lakehurst theater at the mall, and the 400 Theatre in Lincoln Park. Performed it live on stage at the Orientla Landmark Theatre in Milwaukee twice, too.
My uncle is a drummer, and several of his bands appeared at the Thristy Whale, probably from around 1974 through the mid-80s.
Kalhoun, with that much in common, I’d be very surprised if we HAVEN’T met one another at least in passing.
I used to be known almost exclusively by the nickname Turtle. There was a bar in Schiller Park called Rog’s Turtle Inn, and I had a jacket with the bar’s logo on the back - a turtle in a top hat. The nickname stuck until I was well into my 20s.
Grew up in the Richmond District of San Francisco.
Went to St. Monica’s, Sacred Heart Cathedral, and a few semesters at CCSF.
Visited UCSC often enough to know a lot of the Stevenson class of 2004. Visited UC Riverside often enough to know a lot of the theater dept of the past five years.
Worked at the UA Coronet Theater (RIP), Cala Foods (Bell/Ralphs), and now at Kaiser. (voguevixen and I have both worked for the same guy at UA.)
I ate dinner at one of those places the first night I was in Dallas. It was late and it was the only place we could find near our hotel that was open for food after midnight. I think it was called something like “The Million Dollar Gentleman’s Club”. Of course this wasn’t terribly recently, maybe very early 1990s. Have I seen you naked?
I’ll give it a try.

My best chance to interact with any of you would be if you were an undergraduate at Duke University between 1993 and 2000…at one time, I probably could have guessed your middle name. If you called the school as an incoming freshman to ask for advice on what classes you qualified for, I probably spent an hour on the phone with you.
Or, if you worked at or attended the Duke TIP program in summer 2001 or 2002, I may have been the administrator of your summer program.

Lightnin and I have a fairly close one although a LOT of years apart. I grew up in Pasadena, Texas. Graduated high school from Sam Rayburn in 1969. I doubt that he and I would know many of the same folks that graduated then. However Lighnin if you ever had catfish at Sudies on spencer highway the you were sitting in center field of our old sandlot baseball field!

Well, no one can match you, but a few years ahead of you I was born in Royal Oak (St. Mary instead of Shrine), then grew up in Rochester (where I missed being a schoolmate of Madonna by being one year too old), then the family moved to Lake Orion (while I was going to school in Detroit) and Mom continued to live there until last summer when we shipped her out to Seattle.
(Years ago I had thought you might be from Metamora from some of your AOL posts, but North Orion is close enough.)
As to connections, years ago, Highlander made a guess about my background from a comment I had made, we compared notes and discovered that he had worked with a former classmate of mine and was still good friends with that classmate’s ex-wife (whom I had also known back in the middle ages when we were all young).
